  1. Of course I would like to see 4 more wins this season first, then a basketball season that ends in April, but I am also excited to see what develops in the spring with this team.
  2. I just posted this in another thread, sorry for the repost. I wonder if Mac would consider moving Micah Thompson back to DT? He has the size to play the position and he was pretty dominant in HS. He has not gained much trust from Mac as an OL.
  3. I wonder if now that DMAC has been able to bring in some depth on the OLine, that he would consider moving Micah Thompson back to DT next season. He seemed like a pretty capable DT coming out of HS that was moved to the OL due to depth issues. His size could certainly help and we are pretty thin there, assuming he is still capable.
  4. I thought that Schrapps saw some time early in the season, but then got hurt, so maybe he will have to apply for a medical waiver? Rodrick Lancaster is a frosh that got hurt before the season (I think), so he should be redshirting. Has Dylan McDorman played this year? If not he can be added to the list. Jamal Marshal shows to have played in 7 games according to the NCAA site (not sure how accurate it is). Also, there are walkons that are not on your list, but I assume you are talking about scholarship players. http://web1.ncaa.org...g=497&year=2012
  5. Maybe Busby can apply for medical redshirt? His neck has to be pretty sore from the last couple of weeks.
  6. Can't agree more. Boutwell and Lincoln played hard this year in the rotation, but they are both trying to play the position at 40+ pounds under weight IMO. Hopefully McDorman and Wallace will be ready to compete for playing time next year along with a couple more new faces.
  7. You just can't build sustainable success with so much turnover. If DMac does nothing else but build a roster that is stocked full of 3rd/4th/5th year players, he will have improved the program.
  8. According to the website, yes. http://www.meangreensports.com/liveEvents/liveEvents.dbml?&&DB_OEM_ID=1800
  9. A couple of DMAC quotes from the article regarding the secondary: “We have some of the same issues we had in spring football,” McCarney said. “There are some personnel issues, and we have some guys who are not doing the things we know they can do or would like them to do. In the secondary, you have to play with your eyes. Of course it’s also about speed, quickness, technique and talent, but if you don’t play with your eyes back there and don’t play with good technique, you can look silly.” “We are in November,” McCarney said. “There are no rookies this time of year and inexperience is a bad excuse. We have all been coaching since the first week of August. We have to do better, improve and be more consistent. One or two guys can make a unit look bad. That is where we are right now. We didn’t have any effort problems. We played hard against a fine football team.” Me thinks DMAC is chewing some DB arse behind the scenes.
  10. He was referring to DMac's comments about our secondary in the 2nd quarter and how a few players made the entire unit look like clowns (or something to that effect). Miller did say that it was the first time to Apogee.
  11. I don't disagree with the overall desire to recruit through HS and develop. However, it isn't always so short sighted to bring in some JUCO players especially at strength positions like DT. Sometimes teams find themselves in a situation where the HS recruits do not pan out and leave the program before their junior/senior years or players do no develop the size/strength that is needed. We are not deep at DT. We need to add some immediate size/strength to this position. This issue is compounded with Cantly's impending departure. This year's recruiting class will be very interesting.
  12. Ok, I jumped the gun earlier by trusting ESPN's recruiting info and some people alertly point out the issue with the ESPN site for 2011 and earlier data. It does look like Dodge was able to win a few recruiting battles. Unfortunately, there is only 1 player left on the roster from 2009 where we won a recruiting battle. There are 5 left from the 2010 class. Keep in mind this is just showing players that we signed that had other offers available to them. The list in no way is meant to take anything away from players on the roster that did not receive other offers or those that walked on. Some of those players have proven to be very valuable contributors, but it is extremely difficult to continually find diamonds in the rough and develop them into key contributors. It can be done, but it would seemingly reduce your odds of being successful in the long run. The idea here is that as we are able to sign more players that receive multiple offers, that we are essentially signing higher rated players, which you would hope eventually results in improved performance on the field. It looks like Coach Mac is able to win a comparable number of recruiting battles (it still needs to improve). The proof will be in whether or not he can keep these players in the program in their 3rd/4th/5th years. 2009 (8) – *Shavod Atkinsin (SHSU), *Austin Fitzpatrick (FAU, ULL, New Mexico), *Jamaal Jackson (LaTech), *Kelvin Jackson (ULM), *Daniel Mayberry (UTEP), Daniel Prior (Iowa St, LaTech, ULM, Rice, smoo, UTEP), *Ira Smith (LaTech, Ole Miss, UAB), *Tyler Washington (LaTech, smoo, UTEP) 2010 (9) – Aaron Bellazin (Buffalo, ULM, New Mexico, SDSU, smoo, SFA, UTEP), *Ryan Downing (Northern Illinois), *Steven Ford (ECU, KState), Antonio Johnson (ULM), *D’Leon McCord (Western Carolina), Zach Orr (LaTech, SDSU, Tulsa, UTEP), *D’Andre Wood (Louisville, Ole Miss, South Florida, Vanderbilt), Will Wright (UTEP), Mason Y’Barbo (Houston, Northwestern St) 2011 (13) – Derek Akunne (Air Force, Colorado St, WKU), *Jamone Greer (Cent Ark, Utah St), Cooper Jones (Air Force, SFA), Cyril Lemon (FIU, Houston, LaTech, Mizzou, NMSU, Rice), Austin Orr (Montana St, NMSU, TxSt), Brent Osborn (Murray St, Tenn-Martin), Chad Polk (Baylor, SHSU), Andrew Power (Memphis, Nevada, Tennessee, Utah St), Chaz Sampson (Pitt, Tulsa, UTEP), *Kerry Swarn (Arizona, Iowa, ECU), Micah Thompson (Tulsa), Freddie Warner (Col St, Utah St), Zach Whitfield (NMSU) 2012 (9) – David Busby (Navy, Utah), Malik Dilonga (ULM), Boone Feldt (Houston, LaTech, TxSt), Brad Horton (Air Force, Army, ULM), DQ Johnson (Akron), Xavier Kelly (Ball St, Florida A&M, Memphis, MTSU, Wash St, West Mich), Ryan Rentfro (ULM), Nick Schrapps (Air Force), Connor Trussell (New Mexico) 2013 (5) - Dajon Williams (Montana), Cody Nelson (LaTech), Turner Smiley (Navy), Fred Scott (TxSt), John Schilleci (Wash St), hopefully more to come!
  13. I feel like an ass for my post the other day. Completely out of line. My apologies. I took the post completely the wrong way and now see where you were coming from.
  14. Yep, it looks like a few, especially the 2 you mention had several offers per Rivals. However, even after looking at Rivals, there are not a lot with multiple offers. I will try to use Rivals and repost.
  15. Thanks ESPN... I will delete the post and try to research further.
  16. Can you provide info? I used, http://espn.go.com/college-sports/football/recruiting/school/_/id/249/class/2013, it looked at each player that signed commitments for each of the years listed and documented what I found. Most all of the players had additional schools that they were interersted in or that were interested in them, but it does not show that they officially received an offer (except for the ones I listed). I would be happy to update the list.
  17. How about this. We will trade you taking MF'ing Eagles out of the fight song and you keep the hill, rap music, drinking, partying, curse laced chants, cheering while on offense, doing the wave, having fun at games, alumni donations, etc...? Deal?
  18. I won't fight too much on the other stuff. The students being too loud of having too much fun is kind of like us having too many wins because our schedule is too easy. It will take me quite a while to get tired of either. The students new to the game experience will learn quickly enough for when to use their vocal chords to our advantage. When in doubt, it is better to be too loud than too quiet. Scream your arse off as far as I am concerned.
  19. Agreed that it is not new. We were somehow distracted the first few games and it did not look as bad, but since the Houston game we have played a lot better passing teams. I went back and watched the MTSU game last week and there were three different TDs in the first half where Busby and Trice both got burned on play action and let receivers get behind them and one additional TD as a result of poor tackling by them. Instead of these 3 plays resulting in an incomplete pass or a small gain, they go for 21 points. MTSU added a couple of solid drives and BAM 31-0. I saw the same mistake by our safeties on first TD on Saturday. Simple play action, safety bites, receiver runs wide open. These are fixable mistakes that do not require burner speed to resolve. Based on the numbers of DBs that Coach Mac is stockpiling, he seems intent on finding a solution. I can't imagine that the mental mistakes in the secondary are sitting well with a disciplinarian like Coach Mac. Changes can't be far off. I don't see him pulling a redshirt off of anyone, but he has to be pissed.
  20. I for one really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really appreciate the student turnout and support of the program recently. It is a dramtic change from when I was there and I don't believe it has gone unnoticed by many. I also think it is pretty clear that a fair number of folks (some students included) do not appreciate the line that has been crossed here. Students were asked to stop on their own. They did not, so changes were made by those with the ability to do so. It is the way the world works and speaks to the level of visibility that this topic had risen to. It seems like a non issue for the near future (at least until the media starts reporting on why the change was neccessary). Other than that, carry on, have fun, and MAKE US PROUD. Go Mean Green!
  21. I have no issue with the kids partying on the hill. Do what you want within reason. I think it has helped tremendously in getting students close to the stadium and most eventually come in for at least a little while. Most of the actual music seems to blend together when it is all going at once.
  22. Writing an MF'ing editorial to the MF'ing Daily about an MF'ing boycott to Saturday's MF'ing game because all the MF'ing alumni don't appreciate the MF'ing current students and how they started a new MF'ing tradtion by improving our MF'ing fight song? Count me MF'ing out.
  23. Yep. I forget his exact wording, but it also left me with the impression that he is still dealing with some players and staff that have not completely bought into his approach...and that he would make changes if neccessary. I heard them on the radio broadcast driving home. I have been meaning to try to listen to his comments again if I can find them.
  24. College isn't just a time to try all the things you were never allowed to do. It's also a great time to figure out that just because you can do something it doesn't mean you should. Whoa. That's some pretty heavy stuff dude.
  25. If you think the man is trying to keep you down now, you are in store for a real treat when you graduate. Just try to have a little class. MF'ing Eagles is not tradition. If you're entire college experience is going to be ruined because you can't say MF'er during the fight song, you have bigger problems. Actual words? Ok. Something less vulgar like give 'em hell Eagles? Maybe. MF'ing Eagles? No. And I don't have to be 60 to know acceptable from unacceptable. It seems like the grown ups have stepped in and taken care of the issue. Problem solved.
