  1. Man, I thought the negative comments were just from the ever present camp of nay-sayers, but this 'new' scrappy is terrible. I don't see this one growing on me. The fluffy head and floppy wings look homemade.
  2. Really great to see the excitement. As the segments went on the crowd grew nicely and even the announcers seemed to be enjoying the energy. Proud of the student organizations for making it out there. Lets take it to UTEP and keep the good times rolling...

Great to see you showing your pride!
  4. We have to hand it to our coaches and players, they took the short week and made the most of it. Things didn't start off pretty, but we came around and pounded Rice into submission. Let's keep this up. I had mentioned that we would find out about our character tonite, and if this is what our team is made of, they are damn-good representatives of Mean Green Nation.
  5. Me too....Wooo WOOOOO
  6. My wife, who never watches sports, was so excited as this was going on she said "my heart is doing loops." I think that after all my years of trying, our defense has turned her from a casual observer into a Mean Green SuperFan. We are incredibly proud of how the team played and she even asked me if we could get the 'UNT Game Bibs' from the team shop.
  7. Very impressive victory, made me proud that we made the most of the national spotlight. We had so many players step up tonite it would be impossible to call each of them out, but I guess that's the hallmark of a great TEAM. As coach always tells our team, lets celebrate this for 24 hours, enjoy how good the victory feels, and then start looking forward to the next game. Go Mean Green!
  8. Thanks, I've been around here for a bit but finally felt like it was time to post something. I started going to UNT in 2004, and like a fool, assumed the New Orleans Bowl trips would continue. Freshman year my girlfriend and I skipped out on that chance and we have forever regretted it. As we all know, that next trip to New Orleans never came, and many frustrating years followed. Despite this, we were at every home game as undergrads, and I've always been very proud of my university, so it was painfull to get kicked around for so long. I believe that our university is on the precipice of taking great strides toward becoming a top tier institution, and I am very happy with the progress our football team is making in concert with this rise. This is why I feel like the stars are aligned, right now, for us to pounce on this chance and finally earn the respect UNT nation deserves, both academically and on the field. The great ones always make the most of the shots they are given and tonite's game will be telling of our character.
  9. Totally agree - fair weather fans would find it too easy to fall off the bandwagon if we can't pull this out. After hearing how 'things have changed' this season we need to continue to build on our success and convince nay-sayers that something special has begun. If we lose tonite and win out the rest of our schedule, I'll still be disappointed in mediocrity. We will never get where we want to be by only aiming as high as our best C-USA competition, we've go to measure ourselves against the best in the country and not be satisfied until we can compete with these programs. I know things don't change overnite, but the ups and downs of perpetual 'rebuilding years' chop down fans-in-the-making and keep us spinning our wheels. At some point there is no substitution for victory, and starting now, we must not let statement games like this go through our fingers.
  10. A great write-up on our very own Lance Dunbar and his path to the NFL... "So does Dunbar have the goods to stick with the Cowboys? Well, George believes that if anyone can overcome the long odds that face any undrafted free agent, it’s Dunbar, who says he loves competition. McCarney compares Dunbar to a player he coached while an assistant at Iowa, Ronnie Harmon. Harmon carved out a 12-year NFL career in which he gained nearly 9,000 yards. McCarney says Dunbar has similar strength, hands and versatility." http://www.dallascowboys.com/news/article-1/Star-Practice-Squad-RB-Has-Already-Had-Amazing-Journey-/8c2c4995-8f14-457c-b7d7-e72b29e9b39b
