That is funny because that is my post on KillerFrogs you quoted. I went to UNT (Now I am back at UNT in grad school) and I got a masters at TCU. So, I support both teams.

Homophobic chicken tastes great. -
In the section of your post you make reference to the fact that TCU is not "winning in the Big 12". All I was explaining is that they did have a winning record in spite of many set backs. Clearly, you were not just talking about uniforms. It is not a big deal, I just wanted to inform you of the facts. Have a great day!

Yep... The fire ants were the issue. Then the pesticides to kill them destroyed the red ants in and around the suburbs as well.

It is a lizard... Really, they are just called horned frogs or horned toads, but in fact they are lizards. Look it up. However, you pretty much got it right on the big reason they are not around as much anymore.
-
No it is not. Neither is black... Still they use both all the time (Black a lot). The red is used because a Horned Frog (which is really a lizard) shoots blood out of their eyes to scare off possible attackers.

Do you realize that TCU still had a winning record even though their two best and most experience running backs (one for the entire season the other for almost half the season), their starting QB who was leading the NCAA in passer rating, a linebacker that would rival the best from any team last year, and about 5 more players before and during the first few weeks of the season? TCU started more freshman than anyone else in NCAA football last year. There is not many teams that could end up achieving a winning record with issues like this. Most of the older TCU fans hate these uniforms, but the recruits love them. That is what matters. Most teams are not Alabama or Penn State, so why not mix up the uniforms the get more recognition?

It also helps that one of the Nike executives is a TCU alumni.

North Texas needs to do the same thing. Recruits love this stuff. UNT needs to start doing whatever they can to get better recruits and more interest. If fancy crazy uniforms do that, then I am all about it.

Thoughts on Derek Thompson back on top
North Texas Shep replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Since 2005 I have had very little interest in the football team till last season. It was fun going to the games and seeing hints of greatness in a few plays here and there. However, my interest peaked when BB joined the team last year. With him on board there was a chance of quality QB play. Many of us on the board went crazy with excitement of the prospect of less interceptions, over throws, and under throws. Sadly, with BB not proving to be a complete bad ass, like I assumed he was and the QB situation not changing, I am once again disappointed. I truly believe that it is impossible to make a QB more accurate when he is a senior in college. At some point you just have to realize that accuracy is not a young mans strong suit. This is the case at UNT now and sadly, will be the case this season. That is, if a change is not made at some point. Will I still have fun watching the games? Yes. Am I a little annoyed that the QB situation is the same? Yes.- 87 replies

How did Thompson do in the scrimmage today?

We should probably acknowledge the Dunbar Fumble

I turned it off after the interception. Too much bad for a game that does not count. Last thing I need is to stress out about a preseason game. -

It is getting too close to the first game to not know who the starter will be. Tomorrow should be the day to see who wants it the most. I look forward to hearing how it goes.

Anybody seen this shirt in Denton...you're going to now!
North Texas Shep replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Dang Straight! My wife thought it was funny that I was so excited about the new jerseys. She is a UNT alum but never really was into football jersey sales. I had to explain how horrible the selection has been (if we can even what we had in the past a selection). The jersey should be a good purchase as long as we do not change uniforms again. -

I wear a very stretched out 47 brand XL or a XXL, and a 7 7/8 in New Era. So, I feel your pain. There are getting even better stuff next week (at least I was told). Try out the 47 brand, they could be work. Plus they are cotton, breath well, and last a long time. -

They look like real jerseys in the photo. I am going to get one of those dang things when I get paid. Just hope they are not $90.00 like some other Nike jerseys. -

How much are we going to run the ball?
North Texas Shep replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
A team that can run often is a good thing as long as they are picking up first downs. Our running game last year, was the bad kind that went almost no where... Which is also where are passing game went. Hopefully we run a lot and achieve a good 5 yds a carry. -
