MGB: Spring game five quick thoughts
North Texas Shep replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Over all I was okay with what I saw. We at least put damn points on the board. They really should have let Shanbor take a series with first team. Regardless, we have two QBs better than any QB we fielded last season, and we can score. Looked like the defense was pretty limited but did not look horrible. They got some good pressure. Best spring game/ practice we have had in years. -
You mean like David Finfrock on a hot tip about a cold weather systems moving from the north and the possible depression caused when it hits a hot system moving from the south?
-
Me either.

Damn, I asked @Christopher Walker to grab me some jerseys and I can pay him back in three months after I get back to work, but screw that. I didn't think they would be that much.

Not going... Back surgery the day before. Will be watching on my iPad at home, on lots of drugs.

1) Yes, we will be better. We have some new coaches that seem to know what they are doing and are getting results (It seems so the 3 scrimmages/practices I saw). Also, I am impressed with the organization compared to the last regime. Lastly, these young men have bought in. I spoke with a player's dad at the scrimmage and he stated all around it is a better situation for the players, as stated by his son. Now, with all that said. In a couple of year we could be contending for a top stop in CUSA. 2) Better on offense? Well hell yes we will! Last season was a joke. The previous system was not known for producing big points. The new system is made for that. I believe, if Morris can control the turn overs, he can set passing records at NT this season. He has talent and wants a chance to show it. We have not had a QB talent like this since Brock Berglund... Just joking. Ha! But really it has been decades since we had a QB like this. Can't wait! 3) Defense should be better. I think even if they are not amazing, they will be better if the offense can take more time from the clock. The lbs, corners, and ends look pretty good and improved from what I saw in practice. The new co- defensive coordinators are fired up and I believe can get more out of the guys then the crap we had last year. Should see some heads gettin crack once again in Apogee. PS Not going to spell check. Too much work, this late.

I am fine with all this. They will still be competing and knocking each other around.

I have had about 7 herniated and bulging disc. Also, my spine is nrrowing. Most my surgeries come from that issue. No real way to fix it, without surgery.

This Mean Green fan needs help...

Thanks -
As stated a few days ago I am having my 8th spine surgery this coming Friday. This is unavoidable and I can not put it off any longer. It is getting very difficult to do day to day tasks and take care of my two year old daughter. Physically, I can deal with the pain but financially, is the hard part. Paying for surgery and monthly bills is where all my stress comes from. It hurts to ask for help but If you can help, please do. https://www.gofundme.com/efz5hnjw Thank you, Shep Go Mean Green

That quote is sickening. He shoots himself in the foot and so many don't care. I saw some many people bullshitting with him at the practices and I do not get it. People need to treat him like that quote treats us... Like we as donors and fans don't matter.

RV has always rubbed me the wrong way. He talks in circles and always seems to be so confident, which I can only assume comes from the fact he is pulling in massive amounts of money for doing a crap job.

So, I am going to have my 8th spine surgery on the 22nd. Crap news because it sucks, in general and because I have to miss the spring game and spring sale. So, this brings me to my questions... Will the spring game be shown online? I know a few years ago it was. Also, does anyone want to grab me some merch?

No 5-7 should ever get a bowl. If that is still happening, then we need less bowls.- 48 replies

I always expect the defense to be stronger in spring ball (most know that is the norm). The offense looked better organized today. Not sure why the first string line could not handle there assignments, but hopefully they can change that quickly. The dropped balls are unacceptable. I believe these coaches will address both issues (or already have) , and these players learn from today. Still better than anything I saw last spring or last season.

I like the attitude and confidence of these guys. They are ready to win. Now get out there and earn those wins. -
Damn, you have a good memory. That sounds right. They even had a staff member (maybe athletic trainer) doing drills with them. Since, they only had 7. They could have had a few guys helping other drills. In the position drills it was only them.

DRC: UNT looking for return men heading into scrimmage
North Texas Shep replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I only saw a couple of punts caught the entire scrimmage. Hopefully, they are working a lot on this. I miss the days of Brelan... -
Exactly! Super scary.

MGB: UNT, Memphis announce series
North Texas Shep replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
This is a good idea. Wouldn't mind a visit to Memphis. -
@Christopher Walker is correct. Only 7 in drills. This number is concerning if that is all we have. 13 sounds good... If they have skill. Those hog mollies are going to be on the field a lot if we have a true hurry up offense.
