  1. I'm sure the way we played last night had nothing to do with Benford. He might as well not show up to the games anymore. I think our guys can coach and develop themselves better than with the help of him or his staff.
  2. By his direction I mean his product on the floor. His formula for building a winner. In no way am I say that Jones had the program going in the wrong direction. I meant he should get his 3 years to develop his program. Installing his ways. You people who think its best to get rid of a coach after 1 year clearly don't know a lick about coaching. Your delusional to think that will solve the problem with a snap of the finger. If that would have happened I'm not sure we would have been able to field a team this year. Last year had a lot to do with a new coach learning how to be a head coach and a group of players who quit. There was no effort and no execution of the motion offense. It was clear our guys didn't understand it. Last night they showed a lot better understanding. I'd be willing to bet that this team will look much like Jones teams. Lots of scoring and no defense.
  3. If you fire a head coach after one year you will lose a lot of interest in the position. He deserves 3 years to get his program going in the right direction. He has proven he can bring in players with recruiting and transfers. So it's not like there won't be talent later on down the road. It's just plain stupid to fire a coach after one yr. Find me teams that were successfull in the year after firing their head coach who has been there for one year.
  4. OU will finish in the top 6 of the BigXII. They just beat a team that is picked to make the NCAA tourney. Also we didn't just give them 95 points. You make it sound like we played no defense and every shot was wide open. Not the case. The refs had something to do with that 95 too. Giving up 80+ points is going to happen more this year than last year. It's just a given with the rule changes
  5. Your not going to see a lot of defense in any college game this year. So just don't expect it from UNT. The new style has made defense a thing of the past. The NCAA discourages defense this year. They want to see points.
  6. 1. One thing you have to love as a Mean Green fan was the effort this team put out last night. They didn’t give up when it was 13 or a 12 point lead. They kept battling and made OU work for the victory. Now we just need to see consistent effort. 2. 16 TO’s. Your not going to win games against better teams if you turn the ball over like UNT does. UNT just doesn’t value the ball. I see way too many loose and care free passes. No need to make the fancy play, just make the smart play. 7. Correct. I'd take the homeless guy from down the street with no vision, no hearing, has a walker and who once won a Pop Warner football championship in 1930 as a QB and still has 1 yr. of eligibility left over Nick Montana.
  8. Let me just get this out of the way. UNT putting the hurt to Tulane's QB Nick Montana did nothing to help UTSA win that game. Montana is about as bad as they come. Him being in the game gave UTSA a better chance to win then anything else. It's crazy talk to gloat about knocking Montana out. Tulane would be a far better team had they have had the Southern Miss, La Tech, or UTEP QB. If I was Joe Montana I would go back to my wife and slap the crap outta her and say there is no way, no way that is my kid out there!
  9. It's pretty simple if UNT plays like it has been playing then UNT wins by 2 or more scores. Their good is not as good as our good. Will they challenge us? Ya, but it's nothing we can't handle. Just need to avoid the noise, put in good preperation, and take care of business.
  10. I appreciate all the support and sarcasm. It's been fun putting this thing together so far this season. Could have never imagined so many would enjoy it. Put a lot of time into getting this together. Now on the question of whether or not it will be posted again. I can say that there will not be another like this. That doesn't mean you wont get something. Lots of things to be determined in the next 2 weeks. Stay tuned. Again many thanks to all who stopped by and checked it out.
  11. You can never have enough good pass rushers.
  12. You're right it's garbage that is why there won't be another breakdown posted. This was the last one.
  13. They are not very deep.

  15. Here you go ladies and gentlemen. Enjoy the last one. THE BREAKDOWN. And as always hit me up with questions or comments. I will try to get to them all.

  17. The UT BR wanted the new AD to deal with Mack. Deloss was in no way going to make that call. So for me to believe that Luck expected it to be handled before taking over is kinda crazy. Also Patterson isn't a friend of Deloss like Luck is. They prob didn't want Deloss to influence him.
  18. Todd Graham going to UT is about as likely as Todd Dodge coming back to coach here. Its not going to happen and its quite an outlandish statement. Patterson was brought in because he can make the tough choices and he is a money managing guy. Luck thought he had the job, he never told them to deal with Mack first that is bum information. He was a good choice for them. I hope we face Mack next year and not someone like Saban or Tomlin or Shaw.
  19. That still goes on. But it's a much nicer tone.
  20. I've heard and read enough to know something's I'd rather not share. Some people on here love to focus on one piece of the pie because its all they can see. Some people just don't have that ability to step back and look at everything. Just how it goes.
  21. Some of these views are just off the wall. I just love our fan base. When it comes to debating QBs it's like republicans vs democrats. No real moderate views on here either. Anyways my issues with the offense are more than just the QB and what he can or can't do, but that got lost somewhere along the way.
  22. I will speak to the Tulane play. He could have avoided it by throwing it away. How is it silly play calling if the play was open? If the pass was delivered on time Jimmerson picks up positive yardage. The DT didn't notice it was a screen until DT held it for an extra second. Again if you don't feel confident and comfortable in delivering the pass just throw it away.
  23. Trap games = poor preparation. Coach Mac and these seniors won't allow a week of poor prep. They've gone through too much for too long to just let up.
  24. I feel like when we talk about Derek it always turns into a conversation of whether or not he deserves the job or if he is good enough to help UNT win. Blah blah, blah...... Dude earned his job and he deserved it period. He has done a great job this year of showing improvement and helping UNT win games. To me the conversation with this whole thread and all other threads where negativity or concerns might arise should be about the offense as a whole and not just one particular player. That includes the HC and all the offensive staff, and all the players. Game plan, execution, play calling and so on My concerns are this... if faced in a situation where we need to make a drive or multiple drives to stay in or win games do we have what it takes. Because at the level our offense is performing it has become a concern. I'll say this we know our offense can function with a lead late in a game so far, but what happens when we absolutely need them. Or what about when we have a lead and go back to our watered down offense and then all of sudden we lose the lead. How does the offense react then? I just want to see better execution out of the offense that includes DT, Chico, the OL, RB and everybody else. Until I see it, I'm going to be concerned.
  25. So we hit 6 wins and we stop thinking about improving and getting better. If you were to ask the team, the coaches and probably Derek himself where could this team improve. I have no doubt they would say offensive efficiency and penalties. I'm not trying to hate on our QB. So I think everybody who thinks this is a hate Derek party please exit the thread. This is about legit concerns that have come up in the past few games. If you don't think that the offensive output is a concern you should go check with our HC and OC. Canles even mentioned it being ugly on Thursday. When you go out there and play balls to the walls and show us all what you got, well you have set the standard. You know what Derek has done this year? He has raised the standard of QB play. I've been holding him to high expectations after he showed me what type of player he can be. I expect a certain standard now from our QB when he steps on the field. We need him to deliver.
