I don't put a lot of stock in their spring game. Yeah they have QB issues, but Ash will most likely be healthy for our game. Swoopes should be headed for a redshirt year bc come fall he is their 3rd best option. They are really counting on Ash to be healthy, He is the key to them being a 9 or 10 win team vs a 7 or 6 win team. The one area where they are weakest on D is the one area where we might have trouble attacking. That area would be their secondary. If we don't have a QB who can beat them with his arm we will have trouble. I dont see us having a ton of success running against their DL. Their OL is shaky right now. Malcolm Brown will be their workhorse. Stop the run and force them to pass and we have a shot. Let Malcolm Brown loose and its going to be a long day.

I may get burned for saying this, but the up tempo more open offense suits McNulty more. That's the type of offense you want correct? Better suited for running the zone read (than Greer), gets the ball out quicker in terms of delivery, more accurate in the shorter throws

Can they dictate where he transfers if he has already graduated? I think aTm is on SMU's schedule. To me SMU is the most logical destination within Texas. Pass friendly offense. Jones has pulled in the transfer before with Gilbert from UT. SMU is thin at the QB position. TCU wants to do the zone read fast paced offense with Boykins and Joeckel just got out of an offense that would be something similar.

We don't play in the Big XII. We can win our conference with a physical fast D and a smash mouth offense. Patterson is holding out hope that this new offense can save his job. They basically had no offense last year. They have no QB who can throw. I bet they struggle even more this year and their defense will suffer. I'd imagine they are going to a zone read baised scheme. So it's going to still be a run first oriented offense.

I've seen SMU and TCU as potential landing spots

Kent St., Idaho, New Mexico St, and Buffalo are a couple of places that are far worse off than UNT was. It would take an SMU/SEC level of cheating to win consistently at those schools. Mac has done a great job of guiding the program in the right direction. He has dug us out of a pretty deep hole. I'm glad he is our coach. He has put us back to a respectable level on the field. He hasn't done anything out of this world. He hasn't taken us to a BCS game or won a conference championship yet. He has done what I thought he was going to do when we hired him. When he arrived we did have talent. A lot of those guys that helped him right ship weren't his recruits. He helped those guys realize the talent that they had.

Well there hasn't been a better option to replace the starter. I guess he doesn't believe in replacing the starter just for a change of scenery out there. He doesn't believe in the Cleveland Browns motto of using 20 QBs since 99. DT was the best option at QB the last 3 years and there was nobody better than him on the roster at that position. There was also nobody capable of handing the ball off as gracefully either. We don't need a difference maker at QB next year to win 9 games again. There is enough offensive weaponry to help turn a mediocre QB into a good QB. Just need the guy that's going to get the ball out quickly, make the correct reads, get us out of few bad plays, not turn the ball over, and the guy that earns the most trust from his teammates. I trust that Harris, Terrell, Kidsy, Jimmerson, Pegram, Evans, the incoming FR, etc will be able to make our QB look good as long he gets them the ball in a timely and accurate manner.

Wittek is nothing special IMO. Heard may end up being their guy.

Ollie is known to be a supreme X's an O's guy. So there is no real comparison.

Not to hijack this thread, but it won't matter who steps up if the guy under center can't get them the ball. Harris and Kidsy are solid. Terrell will see plenty of playing time bc of his size and blocking ability as a WR. Will be interesting to see who comes in and makes an impact in fall camp. Lots of possibilities. Should be one of best competitions for pt.

Watching the cone drills I see a lot of guys slipping on the field.

Chancellor reportedly ran a 4.5 flat. It wont lock him to being drafted, but it moves him up in the conversation on teams draft boards. Zach Orr 4.71 unofficial is pretty good

Can't say we will miss him. Could never stay on the floor. Was normally out of position when he did play. Best of luck to him though

Not to disrespect Mr. Byrd, but he will not hear his name called during the draft. After it yes. As a free agent yes. The NFL does not not value the running back position like it once did. Plus there are about 30+ other guys who would get the call before he does. Just the truth, it doesnt diminish what he did for UNT though. He will get a chance to make a roster somewhere.

Consider the guy from Oregon D. Thomas aka the black mamba ran away from a ton of guys on the field yet he only ran a 4.5 at the combine. Some players play faster and look faster on the field than they do posting a 40 time.
