  1. In case you were wondering and you probably weren't I did do a breakdown. Here is it: The Breakdown
  2. When you defend a spread team you have to win a lot with your front four. Alabama is not a great team at rushing the passer. They ranked like 78th and sacks per game. Thats why they struggled against OU. Couldnt get pressure on big bad Trevor Knight
  3. And then he got beat by a TE for a TD and later got juked by Manziel. He has though made a few other tackles.
  4. Just a few wrap up thoughts for those guys who think this game is on the OL. 1. We expect the OL to play very well. 2. They are 5 guys. 5 guys can't block 7 or 8. If you don't force the LBs and DBs to worry about the pass they are going to be playing downhill all day. There will be those traditional 8 in the box against UNT. 3. Greer playing good is the X factor in this game. His level of play will determine if we have a chance.
  5. I agree Harry. If UNT is going to have any shot at all against big bad vanilla Texas than its because Josh is playing really well. He has to make quick smart decisions. Has to be able to hit those 3rd down passes to move the chains. Needs to stay in the pocket when its there and be able to move around when it collapses. He has to be able to look at the 10 other guys in the huddle and give them confidence. Needs to be an efficient distributor. Has to prove he can hit passes down the field (should we chose to throw them). If we do pull the upset its because Josh played one hell of a game that will go down in the UNT history books.
  6. I believe it was over 30 like around 33.
  7. For all you guys who want to tune in. MGN Podcast starting at 8ish. Go log on the website to chat/send us questions. Link is on the bottom right of the website. "Says Click Here to Chat" http://meangreennation.com/
  8. I wouldnt jump to conclusions from the first depth chart. Lots of time to develop. I'm pretty sure he was singling out the guys that stood out in fall camp.
  9. Texas and their DL will go about 285 on avg. Which is about what UGA was last year. I believe the biggest DL we faced LY was La Tech who checked in at 287 per man. Texas and their OL will go about 309.2 per man
  10. He should be is he not an alum? Personally I think he is one of the best play by play guys out there.
  11. I'm fine with him not telling us. I'm not fine with Coach Mac and his staff not knowing themselves. Its a huge concern. Also I'm not okay with this: “There is a possibility we play both whether it’s by design or whether we go with the flow of the game, who is struggling and who could give us a lift,” Just not a good idea to be rotating QB's. Pick one and move on. If you want to have a McNulty running package so be it, just dont rotate these guys.
  12. Agreed. I just dont feel like they will want to risk him vs us. Especially with the games after ours.
  13. Clearly this guy doesn't have a clue.
  14. Each team will at least throw the ball 20 times. Guaranteed. 2010 Interm Coach Chico Run to Pass Ratio - 62% to 38% 2013 OC Coach Chico Run to Pass Ratio - 56% to 44%
  15. Come on I thought of all people you could pull it off. College Gameday is 8-11am and the game doesnt start till 7pm
  16. Asking for @MeanGreenSports to show their support @CollegeGameDay next Saturday at sundance square in Fort Worth. 8a ct — Lee Fitting (@leefitting) August 21, 2014 Before this tweet they asked SMU fans to show up, I promptly responded why not ask Mean Green fans to show up, they have more to cheer for.
  17. I didn't list every strength/weakness and how they fit or will develop. I think it would be an interesting read to hear your opinion
  18. I agree about the future. I also truly believe this year our pass rush will be really good. If we can win on the run downs and force teams into those obvious passing situations I like our chances to dominate.
  19. Browns fan here. Craig is doing well with the new coaching staff. He will be put in more situations that make him successful. Last year he stuck in situations where he was guarding guys like Reggie Bush and athletic TEs, which is not his forte. It was a bad year for him. Craig is a run stuffing LB. He does a good job of reading the flow of a play and plugging the holes to make a tackle. I'm expecting a bounce back year from him. The Browns draft Chris Kirksey to handle the passing downs and split time with Craig.
  20. I agree Benson is better than Gray or Brown, but the combo of Gray and Brown is better than Benson and Young. Plus the OL is better than 02.
  21. I think their run game may be a little better than 2002, but they wont be able to throw it all over the field against us. No Roy Williams, BJ Johnson, Sloan Thomas or Bo Scaife. I think our secondary can win their one one match ups, which should allow us to throw numbers at their run game.
  22. Coach Mac may be thinking that way, but I don't honestly think that Strong and is staff is worried about our QB situation. McNulty and Greer are not two way different QBs. What I'm saying is one is not an option QB while the other is a pocket passer. I don't think UT's game plan would differ for either QB. They are going to play pretty base defense against us working more on fundamentals than anything.
  23. Yes a challenge over the long haul, because their offense is going to be dedicated to the run. Against us you have to certainly like the matchups on the outside for UNT. I felt good about them before the Shipley injury. I feel like our DBs can hold their own. You have to imagine that the game plans for both teams will be similar. Both defenses are going load the box. Both offenses are going to rely heavily on the run. Who wins up front, and which QB plays the best? I wouldn't be surprised to see the Vegas line of 24.5 come down to 20 or 19, by August 30th.
