  1. I think your thinking of QBR. ESPN calculates Passer Rating the same way you said in your equation. Which his rating was 65.3 against Iowa. Completion percentage100 * completions / attempts100 * 14 / 3638.89Yards per attempt8.4 * yards / attempts8.4 * 137 / 3631.97Touchdowns330 * touchdowns / attempts330 * 0 / 36-0-Interceptions-200 * interceptions / attempts-200 * 1 / 36-5.56Computed rating (total points):65.30
  2. I think our staff should start with this list http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/high-schools/headlines/20150929-local-leaders-top-10-gunslingers-after-week-5-with-a-5a-dual-threat-leading-the-way.ece and find some kids worth taking a look at. Just me but I like Luke Skipper from Forney http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1934148/luke-skipper
  3. They are both equal IMO. I get what you guys are saying about correcting the mistake, but Mac doesnt believe its a mistake. He will claim that Smith didnt know the offense or didnt practice well enough. Its all a load of BS. I high school kid could understand this offense. McNulty doesnt read a defense. They are punishing a kid for missing spring ball thats it. That is the number 1 reason Smith is not playing. They are refusing to play the best players. This staff clearly cant identify who the best players are either.
  4. Dane Evans at Tulsa checks in at #16
  5. Mac's problem is he thinks he is right about the QB. He is blinded by his old school mentality. When old people like him think they are right, well then you arent changing their minds. There are maybe 5 other people who think he is right about the QB.
  6. If Smith did come in and win 4 or 5 games its grounds for firing McCarney and Canales. I mean I know there are a lot of reasons that these guys need to go, but screwing up the QB position as much as they have is unacceptable. Any one of us on here could do better at picking QBs to help this program.
  7. I could be wrong, but it could just be Mac teasing with us. Maybe he told Vito that he is a 2 with Greer. All I'm saying is that normally they put an -OR- there if they are equal.
  8. Sir you are wrong Its now at -16
  9. I don't see an -OR- there. Greer still looks like he is ahead of Smith
  10. Is this still relevant?
  11. Me when I hear Mac's its hard or any one of one his excuses. Grow a pair and fix the damn problem. Quit pretending like the 120+ other jobs in America arent tough either. Didnt hear Chad Morris complain.
  12. Your goal as an OC should be to create mismatches and advantages through scheme, formations, and motions. We seemed to have forgotten how to do this. There are so many unique things we could be doing with personnel and formations. Yet we chose to be basic, maybe thats bc there is no trust in the QB. How many of ya'll would like to see a 22 personnel set of Wilson & Ivery @ RB Loving & Smith @ TE Harris or Smiley or Goree or Rutherford or Thompson @ WR To me it wouldnt matter who the WR is, you could do so much with the other guys. You could even do this out of a Gun formation What about Gun Formation Wilson RB Smith & Loving on one side of the formation & Harris + Smiley on the other
  13. Its a gentle kick to the nads, rather than a sledge hammer. It hurts, but not as much as still being behind him.
  14. My response to Ryan The fans well we are Herb Brooks The rest of the players are Rob McClanahan ( We are just trying to fire them up) Rentfro is Michael Eruzione (He has plenty to worry about with his own game)
  15. Yeah I know just thinking outside the box, something our coaches dont do.
  16. I was going to write up a long post about it, but whatever. Its a great scenario to bring Smith in for. To throw the ball down the field. I'd make the switch to Smith. I'd only only throw it 20-25 times a game. At least 10 of those throws would be 20+ yards down the field. You can still hurry to the LOS, but I'd take my time from there. I do what Rice does and use as much time as I could. Doing this means I'm protecting my defense, by putting them on the field less. If we had the 2013 defense this year, they would even struggle some. I'd try to create more mismatches for Loving and Smith. I would stop throwing deep balls to Harris. As soon as we get to the red zone I'd put Rutherford in and at least attempt a jump ball. J Wilson would get 20+ carries a game. Jimmerson and Ivery would split the 20. I'd put Harris in the Wild-Eagle and let him make plays passing or running. I'd think about burning the red shirt on Chumley and make him my short yardage Tim Tebow package. I'd bring back some 3 TE sets. Until we can show that we can score 30-40 points a game there is no reason to go up-tempo. Up-Tempo + 17.7 Points per Game= No W's
  17. Disagree Iowa is a good team. They will be good all year. Iowa isn't a team that stunts or has a lot of run blitzes. They win at the LOS and with fundamentals. Our OL did a good job yesterday against one of the best DLs in the Big Ten
  18. Throwing it 40 times a game with McNulty is not a good game plan. The offense isn't complicated I don't know why people think it is. A lot of McNulty's throws are predetermined. He isn't sitting back there reading the D. The offense has to be reworked to protect the QB we don't have. The HC is an old crotchety man who is stubborn and set in his ways. He brought all these problems, issues, and questions. Your asking him to do things that he isn't comfortable doing. The only people feeling sorry for themselves is really just the players. The coaches believe they are doin the right thing. The fans well they are just pissed and ready to burn this thing to the ground. The best thing to do is to start preparing future. Play as many young guys as possible. Get them experience.
  19. He tore us up last year and will do it again this year. The Southern Miss offense is really good.

  21. Abused was too strong of a word I agree. I dont think Chad Davis could have picked that play off. Our DBs lost one on one battles with Parks. Whitfield lost a battle with Parks right before half time. McClain got burned for one 54 yarder. Safeties and CBs both had bad days in coverage. For the corners it wasnt so much being out of place, it was losing a one on one battle.
  22. MGN CUSA Power Rankings: Week 4Inside the Numbers: North Texas Inside the Numbers: Iowa - A look into Iowa's tendenciesThe Break Down: Iowa - Previewing Iowa's offense and defense, and breaking down the match-upsMGN Podcast 48: Game day - Join us live Saturday morning (around 9-10am) as we provide y'all with Mean Green talk before the big game. Think of this as a little college gameday show, just for North Texas fans. This week there won't be a rain out! On one of the video's I called Iowa's QB Beat-Hard instead of Beth-ard. I just couldnt help myself. This is a tough match-up for North Texas. Not sure NT will be able to slow down the Iowa running game enough. I also think Beathard will have a great game against us. His mobility along with Iowa's short passing game will just be too much to handle. I dont think NT will be able to win the battles in the trenches on both lines. I do think NT can get to Beathard with some blitzes and stunts. Beathard took quite a few big hits against a tough Pitt defense. I dont think Iowa will score a ton points on us, unless NT is consistently turning the ball over and giving them a short field. I also think the fact that we played such a physical team in Rice last week will work against us big time. A number of the UNT players were beat up and bruised. Playing a team like Iowa the next week is not a great scenario. The offense has to sustain long drives. Im not sure how long the defense will be able to hold up.
  23. A modern read option attack would be preferable. Would be easier to recruit and develop a QB.
  24. So how do you explain the fact that we've thrown the ball almost twice as much in the 2nd qr. than the 4th? Also we have run plays about 5 seconds faster than last year. So yes there is more of an up-tempo offense. I'm not advocating that I believe in this offense, but the facts are that is more open. It is more up-tempo. The execution is sorely lacking. The design is lacking as well. I know you like to complain just to complain, but come on.
