D. Smith theme song

So about that. Iowa just dominated Wisconsin in their own house. Yes 10-6 is dominated in the Big Ten. Wisconsin had no business being in that game.

Will we win at USM? (voter names public)

It sums up Coach Mac's entire career of QBs he has had. Only one top QB go over 3000 yards passing. Only one top QB throw 20 TDs in a season Since he has been coaching the avg numbers of his top QB each year 55% completions, 2093 yards, 6.9 yards per attempt, 12 TDs, 11 Ints, 118.86 Andrew McNulty is on pace for 47% completions, 2271 yards, 5.4 yards per attempt, 8 TDs 16 Ints, 90.75 QB rating. His career numbers 53% completions, 2251 yards, 6.2 yards per attempt, 9 TDs 15 Ints, 104.6 QB rating So no wonder why Mac thinks he is solid. He really hasnt coached good QBs for his entire career. Sure there are a few bright years, but its all pretty poor. Consider this: McNulty is on pace to throw more passes this year than DT ever threw in one season. In fact it would come in second only to Seneca Wallace who threw 443 passes the year he threw for 3200 yards. So Mac trusts McNulty more than Bret Meyer, Sage Rosenfels, and Derek Thompson. He has to trust him more because he is willing to let his offense put the ball in the air more. To me that is huge red flag. -

Better passer than runner. Can run if needed Most athletic QB we have FBS level arm Maybe has the best arm in C-USA depending on who you talk to When he throws the ball WR's hands pop. No flutter This isnt the NFL, playbook is overrated. Give me a guy who makes plays rather than is safe. Ask yourself is this a team who needs the safe QB or the guy who is going to make plays and score points? McNulty is a guy who plays the way Mac wants a QB to play, only we arent running a Mac offense right now. So we are putting a bus driver QB out there and asking him to be someone he isnt. Seems to me that this staff is confused and befuddled with the QB position. -
RB/WRs against USM 472 yards, 4.4 yards per carry 1 TD You will essentially need a perfect Mac game. Offense does enough. Defense creates short fields and points. Special Teams is special creating short field's and possible point. Every phase of the game has to complement each other. Its the only way. Dont believe we can win a shootout Dont believe we can shut them down completely. Dont believe that one phase can completely dominate the game

They do a lot of work over the middle with Martin who ends up playing in the slot. They are going to be in 3 WR pretty much all day. So Mullens gets into trouble staring a guy down over the middle and thats why our safeties made plays. He has been lights out since the 1st game though. He hasnt really faced a good secondary since Miss St. Not saying ours is good, just wanted to point it out. Harris will get attention, but I get the feeling from hearing Monken speak that they arent too worried about him. Monken made it seem like they just need to worry about themselves this week and the game will take care of itself. He said something like we just need to know North Texas better than they know us. He did praise Carlos, but didnt stress that they are focused on him. FGs wont win this game. Has to be TDs. Cant stress that enough.

Chris Loving is 2nd on the team in targets and Marcus Smith is 3rd. So that trust is building. Like you I would just like to see more of those targets be further down the field.

From what I was told by a Coach at Butler CC "DaMarcus is a very good if not great athlete, with a huge arm" "A lot of the plays he made for us were outside of the pocket" I think you have to look at what Butler was trying to do. Where they asking him to run read option plays? Where they asking him to just be a passer? -

Study on the effects of firing a losing coach - not good!

Simply hiring the RIGHT new coach will mean winning right away. Now some P5 school may come jump in and take him away and then we make a bad hire and now we are back to losing. -
Who would your candidates be for AD?
Mean_Green09 replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Respect your thoughts and I understand what you're thinking. I'm still going to disagree with you. I'm pretty sure we have a bigger athletic budget than WKU. I believe there was some talk of WKU cutting their athletic budget. So I could see us winning him without overpaying. I don't think the next athletic director has to have ties here or to the state. The number one thing he has to be able to do hire good coaches. He has to have a good track record of finding the right guy. . That's why I put him up there. -

Don't know what he makes now, but in 2013 it was only $186,000. I'd say we could afford him. -

Cant win the lottery if you don't play. In our case we aren't even playing the lottery, but we are still losing. We didnt win the last time we played, but seem satisfied that we won a $1. If we stay the coarse, it will yield the same results as making the wrong hire. So what do we have to lose? Morale is all time low. The future doesnt look brighter than the past. We have no answer to the QB question. Everything is trending down and way down. If we made the wrong hire, we we'd be right where we are now. Id even believe we'd probably be a little better off. -
The season & off-season have been epic failures. Playing off your Star Wars stuff from the podcast.. Is Jeffery Wilison our only hope? Is he the type of guy that can be a program changer?

Its all about who you hire. Hiring the right coach at a G5 program should yield instant success. At a P5 school it may take some time. Consistency is a big thing in the coach world and it often equals success. We have had pretty good consistency here with Mac. We've lost some coaches, but the formula he tries to win with hasnt changed. The offense has changed much. We should be seeing success and growth on the field. We arent seeing that. Mac is really hurting the future of this program with his recruiting failure. The right move for North Texas is to move on from Mac. We have to hope that our current AD or new AD if happens someday will make the right hire. Again make the right hire and the article doesnt really mean crap. -
Yup. You can either protect your defense, by using clock and keep them off the field or you can help them by scoring a lot of points. We are doing neither so we are failing.

About as solid as they come

Well at least he tries. Rather have the player put forth his max effort than sucking & loafing.
