He whiffed on a couple of easy tackled in the open field, but I agree he looks the part. I expect we see more of him as the season progresses. If you get him prepped for nx yr with Scott, and Garner we may have a decent group. Minor got to the QB on a few blitzes. Havent heard Finney's name as much as I wouldve liked.

Im going to be realistic on defense. IT wont matter what you do in the defensive backfield if the DL gets no pressure. Playing Brooks, Preston, and McClain together will help mold the future of the secondary. Garner is a sold LB piece. The DL has been a train wreck this year. Young showed some flashes, but the DL ranks 96th in TFL. 111 in sacks. New Mexico St ranks last in TFL and Sacks and their defense is giving up 572 a game (127). When you lose at the LOS you lose everywhere. The DL play has been shocking to me. I know a lot of people are high on KP, but his unit this year is not getting it done.

I can totally understand your argument. The reason I have him on the list, is bc he maybe one of the few options left on the table when the committee has to decide. Do I have him to high right now? Probably, but until more candidates throw in their interest he maybe an option. I also think he may not want to be here next year, based on some things Ive heard.

FootballScoop: President to make hire
Mean_Green09 replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
Talked with Zach and this is what he had to say "It’s my belief the president will be very involved in the search and there won’t be a hire made without him signing off on it. He’ll see the opinions of the committee but they won’t make the hire. " I think its pretty much the search committee presents the best option and the president has to okay it. -
It depends on how you run the ball. UNT can either run a spread offense with a zone running scheme. Or they can go triple option. They could attract kids for either one. Most likely the spread. Running out of power formations wont work. Lots of good offensive minds out there, now can UNT find one and can that guy find a good defensive coordinator.

Villarreal: UNT wants offensive-minded coach
Mean_Green09 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I do believe we have more offensive weapons then they had. If we hire a good offensive coach he should be able to add to those weapons. Im not putting a lot on Smith, but if he continues to get better he only makes this job more attractive. It will allow for the next HC to take the time to pick his next QB. Smith would be that one year stop gap -

I do believe we have more talent than SMU had last year. If Smith gets better our offense should be light years ahead with the right offensive coach. Can this new HC hire a good staff? That will be a big issue as to how far we can climb next year. -
MGB: Villarreal -- "We have things we need to finish here"
Mean_Green09 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Its still there. Im saying its okay because it was okay. It was no big deal. It didn't effect the players. You're not going to change my mind about it. You're the only one who seems to have a problem with it. You've been the only person to question me about it. Everyone else seems fine. -

Didn't think I was defensive at all in responding to you. Did I attach #Breaking or tweet it to ESPN? No I didnt. Not sure what harm I did. In no way do I see it as irresponsible. My sources were certain it was going to happen so I tweeted what I did. Look I had information dating back to the Iowa game that McCarney was likely to be gone. I waited till it was a sure thing and said what I said. What I did was not wrong. If I were to go about tweeting every bit of info that I receive without checking into it now that would be wrong an irresponsible. -

Pretty sure he means he has to finish the baseball program. -

Our site learned he wasn't going to be back next year and I was just sharing information. Did it get retweeted a bunch of times? No. Did it make headlines? No. Letsche from 1310 questioned it until after the game when he heard reports saying it was going down. -

I want to get snippy with him, but he knows my name so I must be on some hit list now. Got to be careful what I say. -

The man called Mac a good hire yet treated him with disrespect and fired him in the locker room. Even Pat Haden had enough decency to wait a lil longer before he fired Kiffin. You dont call someone a good hire him and fire him the way he did. If Mac had all the tools to be successful like RV said then why wasnt he? What makes him a good hire? Because he won a bowl game? Still did that warrant firing Mac the way he did. Of Coarse Mac was going to take it like a man, bc he is old school. -

That only allows him to blame a bad hire on the committee as he did with Stephens in basketball. -
This is what I was told regarding Fritz and his interest in the job "Fritz would like to stick around Statesboro and have his name attached to a team that is turning a lot of heads." "As far as North Texas is concerned, I think it might be a little too toxic." "If/when Fritz leaves, I get the feeling it will be to replace a coach at a moderately successful P5 school."

If I do share it will most likely be on our blog website Mean Green Nation and would address his response there. I don't believe Harry would want me posting it on here. I respect that. -

Gettysburg address. Personally I've visited Gettysburg multiple times, the museums and battlefield. They are worth the trip. -

I do not how he received he the email. He mostly defended himself. I know other people have received emails from him in the past. So I'm not some major player. Did he really need to defend himself vs little ole me and our blog though? He could've spent time elsewhere.
