  1. He is on the team. Confirmed
  2. The pay scale is set at 900K-1.5 million. Source athletic department
  3. I sure do hope they do this. Any given Saturday any team can beat anyone. Not saying it would happen, but it would be funny if they rest starters only to end up in a close game.
  4. You do know we are paying quite handsomely. The next hire is probably going to be the highest paid HC in CUSA.
  5. It most certainly can be a quick fix. Hire a young offensive minded coach. He brings in a good quality DC that he really trusts. The offense goes to a whole new level. He gets an FBS level transfer QB or steals a QB recruit before signing day plus a few more offensive weapons. Our offense should be able to score 34/35 points a game. With Wilson, Ivery, Goree, Smiley, Kidsy and new weapons. The new DC is good enough to get the D to only give up 30 points a game which can be done with better coaching. We are in business. Bowl game next year and most improved team.
  6. One thing that may deter us is how much we are willing to pay. Would you be willing to pay a Skip Holtz guy $900K. I know I most certainly would not. Would I pay a guy like Holgorson 1.2 million yes I would. So I think the money becomes an interesting topic when discussing a retread.
  7. Along those lines if guys like Holgorson, Richt, Rich Rod, Sumlin got let go Id be willing to take a look.
  8. Like getting free tickets to watch a game or what? Because they certainly wont be a team playing in March Madness.
  9. Probably will be playing their 2's at the end. Im okay will it being all Smith. He is the best chance we have at QB for next year as the current roster stands. Im hoping that if we get a young offensive coordinator he could swipe a QB late.
  10. Kinda shocking that we have 12 passing TDs to those 6 rushing TDs.
  11. Well Iowa is a lot better than some on this board would give them credit for.
  12. I'm not advocating don't ask sorry if it seemed that way. If you think he'd fit here and, win sure gauge his interest. Now in my unprofessional opinion Id think he'd turn us down. Probably bc he'd be afraid his name might get leaked during the interview process.
  13. I think he will have higher suitors. It would be a backwards step from Bowling Green. Maryland, Minnesota or someone North of us will give him a call.
  14. Spavital hasnt really accomplished as much as Norvell. Just my opinion but Spavital was handed a lot of weapons and really hanst produced. Norvell has been an OC for 5 years now. Is Norvell calling bad plays or could turnovers be a problem? Against WSU -1 Against Oregon -1 Against Utah -2 They are 96th in Turnover Margin per game 112 in fumbles per game 64th in INTs per game. Just my take Norvell has had a pretty solid track record. I'm not sure how he ended up being paid as one of the top 10 assistants in college football without being good.
  15. He is the front runner in our Coach Tracker that we put up yesterday. http://meangreennation.com/mgn-coach-search-tracker/ For those that haven't seen it.
  16. Line dropped all the way to 5.5 before the game
  17. http://meangreennation.com/breakdown-la-tech/
  18. If we end up with any of those guys I'm all for the President being allowed to get a Gatorade bath and crowd surfing in the student section.
  19. If we got a Norvell/Thompson package oh boy that would be a steal. Two good offensive minds with our resources in Texas. The turn around would be quick. Norvell would probably get job offers in a hurry from bigger schools and then we just replace him with Thompson. That could be a dream scenario.
  20. Updated Coach Tracker http://meangreennation.com/mgn-coach-search-tracker/
  21. 608 or 608-1 for Direct TV
  22. Tonight 8:05ish @aztecskin and myself will be talking North Texas sports. Agenda for tonight's show: -Soccer Update -UTSA Recap -Breaking down LA Tech -Coach Search news meangreennation.com/live
  23. There is no case for Canales. The story is closed. He doesnt want to be the HC here and the administration doesnt want him either. Its hard to imagine UNT paying Canales 900K to 1.5 million. Its really becoming clear that nobody has any idea as to what Canales can be attributed here during his time at North Texas. If he was the outsider and he was denied by Mac at every turn, why stay? He has plenty of contacts in the coaching world, why not go some where else where he would be appreciated. I appreciate what he has done. He is a great motivator, and great person, but he isnt the right fit for North Texas. He wont change recruiting. It wont change how others view UNT. Its time to move on from this.
