Finally we scraped the tempo. That helped the defense a lot. We should run the ball and control the clock the rest of the way. No reason a better DC can't come in here and clean up the D. They have made strides lately, but have had too may missed assignments and flaws in the overall design It's was tough to run it against an SEC DL That playing surface was atrocious. That was unacceptable and contributed to injuries. I thought DaMarcus Smith handled the game pretty well. He missed some passes and his WRs had some big drops. Yes he only had like 100 yards passing, but he threw a lot of short ones. Tennessee scored and their offense shut it down then they stalled and tried to turn it back on again. Hard to do. Too many missed tackles. Canales is a great motivator and has a ton of energy. He lacks in other key areas though that takes away from him having a legit shot at the job here. Hated to see so many guys get banged up in an unnecessary game.

When you look at the production we lost he HAS to be a scorer. We lost 74% of our scoring from last year. We are a guard oriented team. So he HAS to score and he HAS to hit the boards.

I dont want to turn this into a coach search thread #150, but Traylor is a little different personality wise then Dodge. He is way more organzied. Also Traylor doesnt fit the salary range we are looking to hire in. Not sure you could pay him 900K. Could we give Applewhite 900K to be the HC and then pay Traylor 500K to be the OC? That would be a dynamic recruiting/coach duo.

I like his pocket awareness. I like his accuracy. He does have a bit a slower delivery (windup). I like the arm strength. I saw someone on Twitter trying to get him some pub, so I thought Id take a look. I think he has the initial tools to be a good QB down the road with good coaching. No doubt, but you never know depending on who our next coach is. Always the chance that we flip a guy.

Thats a very good point. Streetball or actual team ball I would. I like the idea of my first sub being an explosive scorer like Harris. Also Im sure there will be much more tinkering with the lineup. They had close to 10 different starting lineups last year.

I appreciate the feedback and you are right. I shouldve highlighted more useful matchups. I will make adjustments in the future. Maybe not an overall rating, but rather a receiving rating of a RB/WR vs the coverage rating of a LB matchup. For OL vs DL Pass block vs the rush abilities. Would that be more useful or insightful?

I bet they would like Holston to start with his 6-7 size and defensive skills. I dont think he is ready offensively to start yet. I bet Benford rolls with the small guard heave lineup and tries to spread the floor. It would also be hard to spread the floor with Brice.

The only reason I have Harris coming off the bench is bc they really need an experienced guy with that second group. He is the only guy I trust being with that group. Yeah he could easily start as well, but it's not a problem if he doesn't. The real problems are when Combs gets into foul trouble. They've got no other guys who can score down low. I can't see Brice starting yet he is too raw. He'd clog up the lane for the guards.

Based upon what I was told he would not be receiving minutes and it's very likely he won't travel with the team.

Practice maybe, but it is VERY unlikely that he sees any playing time this year. He wont be a contributor.
