He is quickly becoming that under the radar coaching prospect that comes out of no where to nab the job. I'll admit I have a list of 40 names that I started developing the coach tracker from. He one of the very few I didnt have. He checks off most of the boxes. Everything you read and see about him impresses. While maybe not being a splash hire, he could certainly be the right hire.

So who is on your list then? Dont tell me Fritz, because he runs a modern option offense. If he came here his offense would look more like Sam Houston, than GSU. It wouldnt be a Navy/Army/Air Force flexbone option offense. There would be more passing.

News flash Auburn is the modern day Navy. Even Willie Fritz is more a modern day option attack. If you brought Fritz here he would throw it a lot more than he does at Georgia Southern and that is a fact. Almost every high school in Texas is running something similar to what Malzahn, Morris, and Herman run. So saying that we cant get the kids to do it is false. There are plenty of underrated QBs out there who would come to UNT given the chance to run something similar to what they do in high school. The recruits will come with the right guy recruiting the right guys.

we are better because we have guards that can actually break down people one on one and get into the lane. Doing that gets open shots for other guys. We also have guys that can knock down open shots this year. That makes us better. Reese & Brown are the biggest reasons we are better. Ball movement is much better. Movement without the ball is better. What do those guys know?

We are just stuck with very few options when it comes to North Texas sports. We got recaps and post game stuff, but we are lacking in the analysis part. I know we suck in football, but why? Why is the basketball team better? Dont tell me what Benford said or a player. Tell me what on the court makes them better.

I understand your concern, believe Id love to see better defensive principles. I just believe this team is built to be over aggressive. I'm sure they are hoping Brice Jr. can bail them out with rim protection.

Why would you run that? Doesnt fit the style of this team. They want get out and run. They want to force turnovers and be aggressive. You dont have to pack it in like Virginia for NT to be a good defensive team. As long as the defensive rotations are solid you can play the aggressive man like they want. Virginia is a "Dan McCarney" type of team. They play great half court D, and run a bunch of sets on offense. That wouldn't fit the type of players we currently have. I view Katenda as a role player. We need him to provide post scoring behind Combs, because we dont have much. He did a lot of damage in garbage time, and against a weak opponent. Interested to see him vs a better quality opponent before we can declare exactly how he fits in the rotation.

Troy and Samford should not be able to exploit our interior. Those teams dont have great guys down low. It should be a step up in competition, but dont expect an exploitation.
