Let Meacham/Litrrell hire Brad Smiley from TVCC as his OC. Smiley can bring QB Jerod Evans. Problem solved. The first question is can either one of those candidates fix Smith. If they believe you can then it buys you time. Secondly can either one of those guys steal a HS recruit away from some other school with the chance to play early. We need to find a GS or JUCO who can come in the spring and compete right away.

The only way either of these guys will strike fear is if they find some better groceries. We don't have a QB capable of running what they want. Not sure we have enough good WRs either. Also we won't be able to out score other teams if we don't at least find a DC who is FBS worthy

Based on that if we would've fired Mac last year and brought Tom Herman in you would've considered him an underwhelming guy. Both Meacham and Applewhite have worked a lot of years below the P5 level.

One of those 4 has to be Briles. The other guys could be Littrell or the forgotten Mike Norvell who was very interested in the job. I find it pretty odd to that the TCU OC's names have been pretty quite. Maybe Cumbie or Doug's name are being floated around secretly.

I think he wants that Texas job and wont just jump ship for anything. If Art Briles were to go to Southern Cal he could go to Baylor If the Aggies fired Sumlin he could go to aTm If Texas lost Strong he would be drooling over that I could see him in play if Notre Dame loses Kelly to the NFL.

That's to be expected. You can't roll in all these new faces and expect them to look like a team. Bigger programs can do it that way bc they replace great talent with great talent. Almost all of the good mid majors cultivate their talent for 3 or 4 years. How many times do you see a JR/SR laden mid major team making runs in the NCAA tourney? There is almost one or two every year. Bedford can find talent, but he can't keep it here. He doesn't really have a system either. There is plenty of talent on the floor for North Texas, but there is no system for that talent to run. It's all about the fast break. No half court offense. No solid defensive principles. Anyone whose been around winning basketball programs knows that you can win with either supreme talent or a team that has great chemistry combined with a solid system. From my experience I've been around one of the winningest coaches in the state of Texas and our teams were built off the later. I played ball with guys for 6 to 7 years. We knew what everyone was thinking on the court. It was constantly great communication.

Yes we were the more talented team, but Idaho's pace of play was not something our guys could handle. We struggle mightly in the halfcourt game. Part of that problem was because Brice was out there adding more cloggage to the lane. Like @GMG24 said get 4 guards out there and open the floor up more. We are so good at running the floor why not see what a small guard oriented offense could do. Reese and Brown get in the lane pretty much when they want. Surround them with shooters and lets go. Sure you sacrifice on the defensive end, but that may be okay.
