  1. They dont have a clue who their HC is going to be. Its kind of fun to watch their fans panic over it, but there are also those who think it will be better than Littrell. Not sure they are capable of matching the Littrell hire. Not to mention the momentum he has going into hUNTing season.
  2. Mike interviewed for the ULM position when it was open.
  3. Naw man. The culture shock will be in style of offense and how Littrell runs things. One way RV will affect him is how small the crowds may be other than that he really wont be a factor.
  4. It's a chance to make our staff better. KP is a good guy so I'm happy he gets a chance to move up, but I feel we will be okay. I don't feel like it's bad news. Instead I think it's good for both parties.
  5. Or go there to collect a pay check and retire like Bailiff would do.
  6. Or your pretty desperate to find someone. Your candidate pool doesnt deserve that money. We just paid one of the top assistants in CFB close to that. Y'all are bringing in some pretty "meh" candidates. Also your AD wants to keep most of the staff, bc you cant afford to raise the assistant pool. How many coaches want to be forced to keep guys who arent "their guys"? Good for you that someone reported you have a few bucks to spend. We had plenty to more to spend. We chose to spend wisely and raise our assistants salary too.
  7. Cornerbacks coach Nate Brown is leaving ULM to take an assistant-coaching position on Seth Littrell’s staff at North Texas. http://www.thenewsstar.com/story/sports/college/ulm/2016/01/08/ulms-brown-takes-job-north-texas/78507308/
  8. Webb is a graduate transfer
  9. Davis Webb is still floating around out there.
  10. If Seth Littrell is a good talent evaluator he will have no problem bringing in the recruits here that he needs to succeed.
  11. He might like Mike Jinks, but if Cal or Florida or Texas A&M call I believe he would listen. Jace Amaro tweeted earlier in December that Davis was not transferring to Bowling Green
  12. I dont think he will end up at Bowling Green
  13. My take is that Morris would instantly make us better. But I dont think he makes us a contender in CUSA. We have way to many holes to fill. Our defense is in desperate need of play makers. Our offense is in need of play makers. We need dramatic improvement from the LBs and DBs. I dont believe he would be someone that would make a ton of mistakes like Smith or Greer. I believe he would thrive in a QB friendly offense that we may have next year. Not sure he has a Sokol type of year, because I know we dont have the weapons around him that Sokol had. Plus I know our defense wont be that good. Overall the Morris news is good news. Coach L is improving the roster step by step, but its going to take time. He was pretty much left a bare cupboard and has to shop for a ton of groceries. He knew he needed a QB who could play right away, bc this roster was void of one.
  14. Contrary to your belief no. Derek was an average QB at a school with a below average history of QB play. For North Texas standards DT was a hall of fame QB. For standards based on national production and perception he was average. I appreciate all he did. We did miss him in 14, I thought we wouldn't and I was wrong. He did make the 2013 team better. Its time to move on and raise the standards bar around here when it comes to QB play.
  15. Only 29% of his throws came on 3rd down in 2013
  16. And Sokol was a 3rd stringer at Iowa "HawkeyeReport.com reported that rising senior quarterback Cody Sokol has elected to transfer out of the program, possibly to either Louisiana Tech or Ball State. A junior college transfer who was part of the 2012 Hawkeye recruiting class, Sokol did not attempt a pass in his two seasons with the Hawkeyes, redshirting in 2012 and serving as Kirk Ferentz's third-string quarterback in 2013."
  17. Just because your high school offense was a triple option or power run base and you were successful in it doesnt mean a kid wants to play in that kind of offense at the next level. What stood out the most this past weekend was defense and not the style of offense. The teams that played with spread offenses were overwhelmed at times with the play of opposing DLs and speed in the back end. The elite athletes on defense won this year. There were also a lot injuries to key offensive weapons too.
  18. I think the answer below sums up what he is going to try to do. The passing game will look very similar to the Leach Air Raid attack. Same route concepts. But he is going to tweak the offense to fit the personnel. Look at what Holgorsen did this year with his run attack. Dont just expect us to throw it 60 times a game. I think Littrell will tweak his offense to be a marriage of all the offensive minds he has been under. Expect to see a combination of Leach, Wilson, and Fedora in Littrells offense. How would you describe your offensive philosophy? SL: I played under Mike Leach at Oklahoma in 1999, so a lot of it comes from that "Air Raid" background. But the biggest thing in coaching is you have to adjust. We've had to adjust. Sonny Dykes had to adjust when he first came to Arizona, and then I came in and we had Rob Gronkowski, so we used a little bit more tight end, play-action underneath. And then last year, we didn't have as many tight ends, so we were more spread. You have to be a teacher and you have to understand what your strengths and weaknesses are as an offense and each individual player, and hopefully build something great around them. People look at me, coming from a huge passing background, but you look at Dana Holgorsen, who's one of my best friends at West Virginia. He's tweaked it his way, I've kind of tweaked it my way. And the tweaks you see are based upon what we have as personnel, but at the same time getting those guys in the best situations to compete.
  19. We are probably a year away from Littrell being able to land that nice transfer or grad transfer. He might get in the door to talk to a Trevor Knight, but won't be able to land him. Players like Littrell and respect him, but they gotta see what exactly his offense will look like.
  20. We had interest in Fritz. It never materialized so we moved on. Id imagine that Fritz probably got 1.5 to 1.7 million. Id say it ends up being close to the Scott Frost deal at UCF. I dont think he will hit it that hard. Plenty of talent in Louisiana, Mississippi, and the Houston area for him to attack.
  21. Couldnt be any worse than Cosh right?
  22. I dont think he is shocked at all that we failed to recruit and get in doors. He has already changed the perception of UNT among a lot of DFW area high school coaches. They know his name, they know his offense, and they've reached out to him. We know he is going to them, but the fact that they are reaching out to him is good news. Its step one to changing the culture. Recruiting under Littrell will be a whole new ball game.
  23. Sometimes they have those large play call sheets because they have a large number of formations like Stanford and David Shaw. So same draw up of a play, but just in a different formation.
  24. Young aggressive staff that is exactly what we need to change the culture here.
  25. With Littrell's offense it wont matter what position. Just recruit play makers. Littrell will find a way to get them the ball. This guy is a playmaker and we need those.
