MGB Saturday night recruiting notes

JUCO heavy defense. Trying to get a quick fix there. Probably feel they can coach up the offense. -
Littrell's recruiting strategy going forward

Talent does matter, but so does the man shopping for the groceries. Ohio St aint only losing 1 game in 2 years without Urban. -
Yes. Bob Davie out recruiting Littrell. lol

'16 QB Augie Debiase (Florida)
Mean_Green09 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Very true. I view this offense as being one that takes advantage athletes, by putting them in position to succeed. Something the previous offense failed at. The offensive brain power UNT now has is probably more than has ever been here on a staff. -

I do believe Debiase is better suited than Means or Chumley. Im of the opinion that this staff is better suited to evaluate QB talent then the previous staff. Anyone they offer or bring in I believe is a step above what we already had here. Landing Debiase, Fine, and Morris would be a solid starting point for Littrell. Moving Dillman to QB would be a wise move as well, but Im interested in seeing him as an athletic TE. Off topic here but could Chumley and Dillman eventually develop into a poor mans Jace Amaro/Eric Ebron? -

My bad it was WR Rick Wells 4 star committed to UF. He also had another WR who was a 3 star who is committed to MTSU. Both those WR's had tons of offers so plenty of other coaches saw Augie throw. -
Wilson is a better recruiter than Littrell IMO. However, its not a major concern at this time. I still think Littrell is a better fit as a HC and has a better staff. I trust Littrell and his offensive system vs Wilson and his probable pro style offense in the state of Texas.

I'll disagree with you on this one. They get their info from more than just coaches now.

We dont have one. The only way for a fan base to get constant recruiting coverage is to have a site associated with a network and enough subscribers to warrant hiring manpower to cover it.

Read an article recently that he went on a visit with his star TE to Florida St. There was some belief that FSU may offer him a PWO. Also some VT sites said his accuracy was shaky and that his TE helped make him look good. Just passing along info -
Lewis is visiting Central Oklahoma this weekend. I wonder if he has grade issues. Fialoa is a guy I would watch out for. He is one guy I listed that could end up at NT here http://meangreennation.com/5-thoughts-as-signing-day-approaches/

I remember, but Ive thought about doing one on meangreennation.com

Thought about doing it before

There is no specific strategy other than winning, building relationships, and branding. Littrell and his staff are building relationship faster and better than the previous staff. We've seen some new branding and marketing with Twitter, but more is needed. Finally we just need to win. I think if we become good in those 3 areas we will go to new heights as a program.

MGB: UNT to host top QB prospect
Mean_Green09 replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Both IU and VT offers are old. Landing him would be a nice get. In no way do I believe he is a highly regarded prospect. Florida St might ask him to be a preferred walk on. -

There are a few guys that Im sure they are working on and probably have offered, but nothing that going to move the needle toward this being the class your hoping for. -
MGB: UNT to host WR Jason Pirtle on official visit
Mean_Green09 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
No, bc we havent offered. And if we do offer its not going to be a full scholarship. Its simply an offer to play football like Fine. -
Tyler Natee, Euless, TX (Trinity), Ath,Rb,FB,Qb
Mean_Green09 replied to TravisUNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
His position would be play maker. Its pretty clear this staff doesnt have a lot of faith of the current guys we have outside of Wilson. They've gone after quite a few athletes and WR's. Wouldnt be suprised if 3 or 4 other WRs hold offers from NT. Timmy Wilson from Plano East could be one. -

MGB breaking news -- UNT lands high school QB
Mean_Green09 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Recruiting QBs is different than recruiting DL or WRs. Size and speed are nice, but there are no measurables for QB that say a young man can compete at a certain level. I've seen plenty of small school guys become good college QBs. Fine is an FBS caliber QB otherwise he wouldnt have gotten an offer from UNT. I dont think anybody is pointing towards Fine being the answer. I think most fans are interested to follow his development. I dont think any of the QBs we had last year wouldve been able to put up the numbers Fine did when they were SRs in HS even at his level of play. -

The Air Raid has evolved into a lot of things. Dana Holgerson runs the Air Raid. WVU ran it 60% of the time this year. TCU runs an Air Raid offense, but they run it effectively. These Leach disciples are taking the concepts and tweaking it. I really dont think we have any idea what our offense will look like next year. The best player on offense is Wilson by far. So Littrell will probably feature him, but this is his first head gig so he may chuck it 60 times a game. Its all a guessing game for now.
