TV Coverage Upgrade for Rest of Season?
rws69 replied to Mike Jackson's topic in Mean Green Football
Our punt return team has been seen clearly on every sports and news channel in the country! -
Went off briefly for Nic’s 66 yard run, but otherwise just off on purpose during weather delays. On Amazon Fire.

I do not like the "smart" schedule at the end or MBB regular season. I am in two organizations with annual fund raisers during that time, and cannot make plans.

DRC: UNT hammers Arkansas five quick thoughts (Updated)
rws69 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Cannot argue five points, as I had similar thoughts; but one game at a time please. -
Officiating, especially after 1968 robbery.
-
You are correct - how could I forget after seeing all three of those?

Cedric Hardman wore #42 in yearbook picture, but played defensive end that year - not FB-HB as shown in that program.

I was there and had seats that were very low. The touchdown in question was in the end zone to my right and across the field. I did not see the ball touch the ground. It looked like a clean catch, and I was shocked when the second referee called in incomplete. Your story, however, is the first time I heard that we had that captured on film. That 2-point "win" was the closest for Arkansas that year as they beat the Aggies by 3. North Texas went 8-2, losing to Arkansas and Memphis. (Memphis accounted for 3 of our 5 losses in 3 years.) Arkansas went 10-1, losing only to Texas, after beating Georgia (8-1-2) in the Sugar Bowl, and finished #6 in final AP poll. Texas went 9-1-1 after a tie with Houston and a loss to Texas Tech in their first two games, and beat Tennessee in the real Cotton Bowl.

Go early - visit tailgates - watch the team and band parade 2 hours before KO - have fun. By the way, blue lot looked full from my seat.

Current RPI has UNT at 42 - about the same as before they played. FAU dropped, but FIU is highest CUSA team at 39. Arkansas 66 SMU 88 Liberty 147 (they still show as FCS) http://realtimerpi.com/college_football/ncaaf_power_rankings_Full.html

Looking forward to the game in Fayetteville this year while thinking about the game I went to in Little Rock in 1968. Both teams had outstanding years with NT going 8-2 with losses to Arkansas (17-15) and Memphis (who accounted for 3 of NT's 5 losses in a three-year period). Arkansas went 10-1, including a 16-2 win over Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and one loss to Texas, who beat Tennessee in the Cotton Bowl. Hard to believe I am headed to see NT play in Arkansas fifty years after that 1968 game.

I plan to be there by 6:00.

I am in club seats, and I do mean outside and not inside. Club seats have simply not been available the last couple of weeks. They were sold out. As I looked across to the student / visitor side, there were more students standing behind the last row in the lower section than there were empty seats in the top section. I estimated maybe a hundred empty in the upper visitor section. Lower visitor section was full. The wing seats were used almost all the way up in the middle, where the top row is much lower than the ends; but the ends were occupied maybe two thirds the way up. Glancing at the empty rows, I figured maybe up to 400 empty seats in the wing. Lower sections on west side looked full from my view, but I could not see the highest seats under the overhang. To summarize, that was up to 500 empty seats that I could see. Not being able to see under the overhang, I said to friends 28 plus. The 29.5 did not surprise me.

A lot were in place Tuesday morning.

Does your spouse or significant other support your UNT habit?
rws69 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
My wife went to ETSU (now A&M - Commerce, but she rejects that). We've had season tickets for just over ten years now. She went to all games early on, but less often now. So my NTSU-grad sister goes to one game, and a close friend goes to one or two. Even though my wife will not go to basketball games, I am going from two to three tickets this year so that my grandson (5 years old) can join friend and me on weekend games. -
These appear to based only on historical scores, i.e., last year.

Paul Batchelder (spelled differently on chart) has been gone over a year. Has he come back?

http://www.fox4news.com/sports/colleges/massive-party-deck-to-be-new-student-section-at-smu-football-games I believe that used to be the visitor section when we were there last year. It is the student section per this article.

Should be.

Glad to hear. I tried to call the ticket office today, but could not get past "all line are busy" wait message. Then sent email, but response to that yet. This is why I often just drive up there - from Flower Mound!
-
But SMU needs that capacity when UNT plays there.

Column: This men’s basketball roster is finally McCasland’s
rws69 replied to Skipper's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Freshman Zach Simmons was progressing nicely during the year after not playing most of his high school years. Jordan Duffy missed most of the year due to injury. A.J. Lawson played with an injured right hand/wrist. Much of the CBI success was the result of Zach Simmons coming on, Jordan Duffy and Michael Miller getting in the lineup, and continued strong play by Ryan Woolridge and Roosevelt Smart. Aside from the first eight minutes of the loss to SF, the team played great for six straight games in the CBI. Heck yes, we can get excited about next year. -
Seems like last season some were looking forward to our 2018 game against Arkansas in a down cycle. 2017-2018 season final rankings: 39. UNT 9-5, 21.89 87. Arkansas 4-8, 18.93 Granted, Arkansas had tougher SEC schedule, but that 3 point RPI difference is a near offset to home advantage in most cases. Fayetteville will be a little tougher, but I am not assuming a UNT loss in that game.
