When will we get a new uni announcement?
Tyler Maryak replied to agubriz23's topic in Mean Green Football
Cannon Maki has them made. I asked about it on Twitter and he DM'd me saying he's all out but hoping to get more in around September. They're sick AF... -

Didn't we pick up some minor league ball player at one point? Whatever happened with him? -

Did you see the tweet that followed? I'm getting a Carlos-ian prima donna vibe and I'm pretty much over it. I get that folks believe kids should enjoy the recruiting experience, but I'm about over the "look at me" element in this particular instance. -
My thoughts exactly.

Haven't gotten down-voted in a while... Am I alone in thinking/worrying that it will be possible for it to have looked better as a grassy area than having tents there?

W/L % vs Conference and Recruiting Opponents
Tyler Maryak replied to Caw Caw's topic in Mean Green Football
This did nothing but depress me. I hope we can just break even with most teams before I die now... And I plan to live to 125. -
https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2017/7/25/15966760/la-rams-roster-2017-preview-lance-dunbar Many comparisons are drawn for the Rams to emulate the Washington offense under McVay. One of the underrated players of that offense was RB Chris Thompson who excelled as Swiss Army knife type of back and profiles physically and stylistically to Dunbar. Anything resembling Thompson’s usage would be a boon for Dunbar as Thompson had 117 touches for 705 yards and 5 scores in 2016. I would expect Dunbar to see the kind of receiving looks that Thompson got in Washington while hardly getting any rushing attempts. I’d think WR Tavon Austin is likely to get more carries than Dunbar.

No saddle = too lazy for our system? Discuss... -
Beer before the game and a ride from East Side to the stadium (and back). I did it last year. Incredible value if you make even just three of the games.

I like it. I didn't make it past the page showing the proposed new parking because it's loading so slow on my computer, but I really like the idea of moving everything closer together. And I'm really excited about having dedicated spaces for the various events.

Thought I'd feed the Twitter-less baby birds among us with this nice little vid.

Regardless of one's own opinion about the quality of opponent we have in Houston (and ignoring factors like gaining access to the recruiting grounds around Houston), the reality is that the previous AD said to me quite matter-of-fact-ly that "Houston just isn't coming to Denton any more. It isn't going to happen. People say, 'Oh, why don't you schedule with Texas Tech?' Tech doesn't want to play us. People may not like it, but that's the truth." Maybe we feel like we deserve better, but this AD is doing stuff that was previously declared impossible. I sure as hell appreciate that.

If accurate, we get a team with some national name recognition right away while we have a coach who, with his new contract, we should expect to field a team that will be damn competitive in the game. What was attendance last time they were here? I won't say I'm necessarily "pumped" because I'm not optimistic about winning yet, but I definitely see this as a positive addition to the schedule (given that we, as of yet, have no details of the deal). Regarding the favorability of this compared to the Army game - as the son of an AFA grad and brother of an Anapolis grad, you might think I have great animosity for West Point, but I really don't. I'm far more interested in Texas programs. I love the recent success of the service academies, but I have reason to follow them more closely than other people folks. I don't know if it's an age thing or what, but I know several people who are unaware that the academies have D1 football teams. I would speculate that those same people are, at the same time, aware of UH football. Which game would get a better TV broadcast? I can't say. But which team name makes folks (or maybe just folks around my age) perk up their ears? I'd say Houston. ETA: If the noise about none of the games being at Apogee then I will join the first rabble I see headed to campus with fire and pitchforks.
