Tyler Maryak replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Lolol, it will never get old...their board talks about how "obsessed" we are with having a rivalry with them when they are SOOOO superior, then 4-5 of them come to our board to talk shit. Like a psycho needy ex-girlfriend... -

Thanks UNT90. I don't know what the Center has done so right to make you such a proponent of it, but your words make me glad to be a part of it now.

Oh man, I am so glad you mentioned that. Thank you very much!!!

Lol, y'all are both too funny. Thank you, oldguystudent, you're the best! I'll try to remember to message you once I see people on here saying that their tickets are rolling in. Thank you again!!!

Hello again ladies and gentlemen! So, as some of you already know, I am the grants manager for the Child Study Center in Fort Worth. No one on my development team has been here for more than about six months and we have an auction event in May that is expected to have over 800 high rollers. Our director wants all hands on deck to solicit auction items for the silent auction portion of the night. The issue is that I do not have the connections to get thousand dollar stuff for free. But, even better, I have y'all! To keep this short - I was wondering if any of y'all may have box seats for a game that you won't be able to attend that you would be willing to donate to our auction event. Again, I appreciate any help y'all can provide and Harry, feel free to boot me if I'm getting too bold here! Cheers! -Tyler tmaryak@cscfw.org

I totally agree - I think we can run the ball down their throats and stand a chance. But that's not really what my question was (again, pardon my pointedness). I'm asking, largely to the people saying that they see this as a good thing because of the national exposure: is it still a good thing IF we get crushed? They moved this game just so we'd be on national TV. Meaning that a loss with small conference implications would be blown up to a national scale. Do we gain more than we lose if we get blown out? Is being on national TV really a good thing, no matter what?
-
So...honest/ignorant question here: they moved this game so it will be nationally televised, right? so what if we get spanked on national tv for the first time at apogee? will it still be "good" that we got on the national spotlight, or will our poor product just have a nation-sized spotlight shined on it?

This is what I'm really hoping for. Just hit them fast when they're tired, keep them down, and keep running the ball down their throats. Get another home nationally televised W.

Dang...that's my dream...

Scout pre-spring ranking - #99 North Texas
Tyler Maryak replied to jdennis82's topic in Mean Green Football
I think the report by Scout.com is fair and accurate, but BillySee58's is a lot more telling. Munthe (and I, cautiously) thinks that Buyers can and will be that guy who comes up as a playmaker. I think 6-6 is optimistically achievable. I just pray we get a QB this season... -
Season 3?

You know when you see someone that you work with or is in your political party (or whatever the case may be) doing something dumb or annoying and you think, "man, I wish I weren't associated with THAT behavior..." Anybody else ever feel like that regarding being associated with some people who go to UNT? Foolishly, I could not resist going to the UNT Facebook page when I got the message that the university was closing. Sure enough, there are people complaining that they didn't close before 8 am because it MIGHT snow. It MIGHT HAVE snowed yesterday, but it didn't. If UNT had closed, people would have complained that they closed unnecessarily. And no one wants to be responsible for using good judgment. People, man... Ight, rant over. Thanks for listening.

I think we're all kinda on the same page. Need a QB. Middle of the road season likely, but could go dramatically either way. I'm thinking 6-6 is attainable and not entirely unrealistic. Here are some pros/cons I JUST now threw together, based solely on assumptions/first impressions/being ignorant/etc. Pros · When we face SMU, they’ll have just finished getting whooped up on by Baylor at home. · Iowa will probably be mediocre. If we play better than mediocre, we can get a pseudo-“signature” win away. · IF we can knock off Rice and Iowa, our fifth game is against Portland State, meaning we could start 5-0, dramatically improving our shot at a bowl appearance. o IF we start the season 5-0, that should definitely give us good momentum for the rest of the season, which will be key because: § We will probably have to snag an unexpected victory in the second half of the season to get 7 wins and ensure another bowl game. · UTSA rivalry game at home ON HALLOWEEN!!! HUGE home-field advantage. · LA Tech will be good warm-up before going to Tennessee. · UTEP, a beatable opponent, at home on Senior Day. Cons · We have almost no idea what we’re going into the season with, especially at QB. · SMU will get whooped by Baylor and be expecting a whooping against TCU. Beating us will be their only hope of not going 0-3 to start the season. o SMU MUST beat us and Houston to go .500 against Texas rivals. · As much as we can predict the quality of our opponents, we have little idea what our quality will be. Predicting a 5-0 start assumes we will not only be better than mediocre, it also assumes we will be CONSISTANTLY better than mediocre. · WKU keeps getting better. F*(<ers. Almost guaranteed loss, followed by Marshall (all but guaranteed loss). We’ll be 5-2 at the VERY best by the midway point of the season. · UTSA is pesky as sh!t and we may be coming home to play them after losing a second straight game. o The outcome of the UTSA game will likely set the tone for how we play away at LA Tech and Tennessee. IF we go 5-2 to start the season, losing to UTSA will virtually ensure we’ll be 5-5 as we go to Tennessee (again) to play the MUTS. · Three straight away games at the tail-end of the season.
