  1. Really eager to see the football this kid morphs into. ;)
  2. I'm certainly no coach and provably input less than ffrick, but if you were gonna convert a guy that size, wouldn't it be ideal to put him on the other side of the ball for the very reason that he could eat up passing lane space? Ignorant question asked out of curiosity.
  3. Interesting thing at 12:30...not surprising at all that Cosh would be gone, but I still found it interesting that he says what he wants from the DC that he brings in. He might boost some peoples' confidence up another notch with that statement without even realizing it. EDIT: The DC he brings in at the end of the day, of course.
  4. I see the "at the end of the day" thing that people mentioned from The Ticket interview now. Lol.
  5. I'm just eager to get the news over the coming days/weeks about who he's bringing to his staff and THEN who we're landing for recruits. I'm not going to get my hopes up about out-recruiting anyone this season, I just want to significantly out-recruit our former selves. #JustHappyToBeHere
  6. This season or in his tenure at UNT?
  7. The fact that your profile picture is Rafi makes me read everything you say in his voice.
  8. To hear it from the AD, he totes had a legit short list that Littrell was on b/c he's sooo, like, visionary...
  9. Hey, nothing is set in stone yet. Get it!?! Because it's a statue, you see...
  10. Actually a fairly valid consideration...let me see if I can change the options.
  11. If you (meaning everyone) would like, I can start a dialogue with Mr. Wolf to get his thoughts/impressions/recommendations and mention the need to name our field as well. If we're serious about this, we need someone who can draft some artist renderings, someone to get some bids on the cost of the statue, and a strong narrative for why this project matters and to whom. Supporting numbers (# of stadiums with statues, # of donors on GoFundMe, etc.) would be great to have as well. Most importantly, we need to know who on here personally know the kind of people we need to rub elbows with to put serious money toward it. They'll be particularly important once we small support from numerous people. Part of me wants to just go ahead and get the GoFundMe open and capture this momentum, but every other part of me wants to make sure we have a group that will see this through if the going gets tough. Thoughts?
  12. Haha, why has no one thought of something so brilliant before? This, I completely agree with. I've wondered before why we don't have a statue anywhere around the stadium, but the fact that so many people seem immediately on-board is phenomenal.
  13. Good point. I subconsciously heard it as his approach to his entire plan, broadly.
  14. Trying to think about what he said that stands out to me the most. A lot of things did stick out, particularly regarding recruiting like "they will know us" and "I will be going to them." But the one thing that sticks out the most for me, I think..."I'm going to do it the right way, not the quick way." I am extremely pleased by that, but it was a reminder for me to temper my expectations a little...we may not go bowling his first year in (although our odds are exponentially better now, IMO). I just need to steel my resolve and allow some time for his program to develop.
  15. Poll here regarding location: http://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/topic/109996-where-would-you-put-the-mean-joe-green-statue/
  16. Where would you put the Mean Joe Green statue? Redundancy breeds success.
  17. Okay, let me summarize, so we can have a united direction when we broach this proposal to the powers that be. We want: a bronze statue of Mean Joe Green (approx. life-size) and I'm assuming a short bio, possibly including "it's a common misconception that our moniker came from him." (details tbd) Where: west entrance to Apogee Stadium By when: Beginning of 2016 season? Cost: $85,000 (goal) Fundraising: two tier, individual contributions primarily through a GoFundMe account and corporate sponsorship (one large sponsor or numerous small sponsors?) Who: our main man above who has volunteered for the task (shall we take bids for the sake of transparency due diligence and whatnot?) Costs to the university? Athletics? Alumni Association? Potential risks? Rewards? What am I overlooking? Side note: I am a non-profit grant writer, so I would be happy to prepare proposals to corporate sponsors in my off-time. I'm sure many of you have similar experience and better connections than I, but I want to offer my services however I can. I love this idea. An excellent question. Kind of a key stakeholder to have buy-in from...
  18. EDIT: Correction - his email is David.Wolf@unt.edu. He is UNT's Vice President for Advancement and extremely responsive to students and alumni. Even moreso than Prez.
  19. I think this is brilliant.
  20. It seems almost surreal. Like, we waited all week for the announcement and it finally came. Now I'm just kind of sitting around wondering what happens next. Did this really happen? Do I really have reason for renewed hope? What kind of future is that twin turbine leer bringing back with it?
  21. You keep me optimistic, Harry.
  22. Is it really? Honestly, I'm glad it's before their game. Lol Thought dominoes: UNT is weird. Keep Denton Beard. I wonder if Litrell would grow a beard... Christopher Walker, any insight on this?
  23. Yeah, but what TIME is the meeting!?! Lol.
