  1. I know nothing about Pearl River CC, so I'm hoping someone can enlighten me. Good get? I mean...getting a DC as a DL coach is good, right?
  2. That could be interesting. People talked about Fine tossing it up for grabs. Might be nice to have one of the guys who always seems able to come down with it.
  3. The expectations created (through external forces OR internal forces) led some of us (i.e. me) to believe that he would be able to do unimaginable things (see: flip 3-stars). In a typical situation, expecting that would be logical. In THIS situation, I (we?) momentarily abandoned logic and reason for [unreasonable] hopes.
  4. If I recall correctly, Coach Littrell said almost verbatim what Fedora said in that quote about contributing on special teams in order to start on offense or defense. I can appreciate that.
  5. THIS^ I trust that Littrell and Co. have a plan in place and are executing it to the best of their ability. They very well could come in here with what they've got and take us to 6-6 and I'll believe they will until they don't. I imagine they have their reasons for getting the guys they are getting, but any rational person is going to measure the odds and see that, as it stands, traditional wisdom says we're not exactly winning the national title in 2016. We aren't the team from "The Sandlot" and these kids can't all turn out to be a Doug Flutie. Many (or most) of us who bought in to Coach Littrell and became optimistic early on really hoped that he would make some moves to shock our peers. Flip some 3-stars, get some big time recruits early in the recruiting period, etc. That hasn't happened, and that's not to say that it should have happened or anyone is failing at their job because it hasn't. It just means that some of us, as we observe how it is playing out, are realizing that our hopes were a little too high. Now we have to temper our expectations in recruiting and see what he will do with what he has. I saw someone saying that we're already turning on the new coach. That's not what is happening. We just had sky-high hopes and reality isn't panning out that way. Now we're re-setting our hopes and expectations the only way we know how - by throwing word-bricks at a digital wall and screaming at the unforgiving gods that made us North Texas fans.
  6. Welcome! Thanks for chiming in!
  7. Just a note on that...during undergrad I was an Eagle Ambassador (tour guide) and an incredibly common theme was when I would state our student population, people would look surprised and say, "But this feels like a small school!" So having been on campus, hopefully that won't be a factor for him.
  8. UT Corsicana, UT Krum, UT Wal-Mart, UT Valero...Why don't we just skip some steps and hold a vote to change from "State of Texas" to "University of Texas."
  9. We know...we know...
  10. Lol, some people struggle to transfer sarcasm digitally. You nailed it.
  11. Love it. Also, #1 Emergency Planning program (Masters of Public Administration) in Texas (#8 in the US). Just throwing that out there...
  12. You're probably right about that...
  13. If I were someone reading this to learn about UNT, I would gather that A) This writer (who arguably has the inside scoop on things) thinks that the school will never be able to get a recruit from Liberty and B) athletes who are highly desirable would be embarrassed to have a degree from UNT. I also didn't think it was fair that people were digging into Vito for his other article...but this one seems to be focusing on hand-picked facts to support an argument, that argument being that we were all dumb for hoping to land that QB because a degree from UNT isn't valuable enough to someone that good. It is insulting to me and my university and I don't appreciate it.
  14. I am going to use this for a million things from now on...
  15. My reaction to this inevitable news.
  16. He's got a cute back-and-forth going with a guy on Twitter right now.
  17. I gotta love UNT putting its name in there from the beginning. Demonstrates commitment to getting serious recruits for the future. My mind hasn't been utterly blown by anything that has been done on the HS recruiting trail YET, but the little things certainly make me feel optimistic and proud to be Mean Green.
  18. This is gold and I hope it gets a ribbon.
  19. And now I am super sad. Ditto...
  20. Yeah, I thought I saw someone saying we should be seeing quite a bit of chatter today. The day isn't over, but I'm starting to get depressed...
  21. I think he looks like a dumbass and I love it. Eff me, I guess...
  22. That is the main lobby of Victory Hall. If you've ever split between Champs Cafeteria and Victory Hall to enter on the south side of Apogee Stadium, you can hang a right and enter this lobby from the right side (just about where the guy taking this picture is standing).
