  1. The North Texas Mean Green basketball team defeated by the Nicholls State Colonels 78-60 Monday, Dec. 14 in a non-conference game at the Super Pit on the campus of UNT. The Mean Green took a 41-22 lead into halftime and led by at least 14 throughout the second half.   5. The North Texas Mean Green (1-7, 1-4 Conference USA) won their first season game at Apogee Stadium against the UTSA Roadrunners (1-7, 1-3 Conference USA) 30-23 on Saturday, Oct. 31. Mean Green quarterback DaMarcus Smith ran for 137 yards with a late touchdown run to help North Texas win. He also attempted 22 passes and complete 11 for 104 yards. Running back Jeffrey Wilson added 127 yards rushing with a touchdown. When the Mean Green took the lead early in the fourth quarter it was the time North Texas had the lead in a game since the second game of the season.   6. The North Texas Mean Green Basketball teams are gearing up for the start of the 2015-2016 Conference USA Season. Both the men’s and women’s teams were introduced during the “Basketball Madness” event held October 22 recently on the campus of North Texas at the “Super Pit.” The event included team scrimmages, a brief talk about the upcoming season by both coaches and related activities.   7. The North Texas Mean Green (0-6, 0-3 Conference USA) were defeat at Apogee Stadium by the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (6-1, 0-4 Conference USA) 28-55 on Thursday, Oct. 15 at Denton. DaMarcus Smith threw four touchdown passes in his first career start for the Mean Green.   8. The North Texas Mean Green (0-5, 0-2 Conference USA) were defeat at Apogee Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 10 by the Portland State Vikings 66-7 to spoil Homecoming. The Mean Green were never competitive against the Vikings and fell to 0-5 for the first time since 2008. North Texas paid Portland State a $425,000 guarantee to play, which made the loss hard for the Mean Green to take. The defeat was North Texas’s first loss to a Football Championship Subdivision team since resuming play at the Football Bowl Subdivision level in 1995. The Mean Green had been 8-0 against FCS teams since that season. The Mean Green loss resulted in a night of change for the program. Head coach Dan McCarney was released following the setback.   9. North Texas Mean Green Soccer team (9-2-1, 1-0-1 Conference USA) was victorious over the Florida Atlantic Owls 2-1 in a conference game on Friday, Oct. 2, 2015. The winning goal was a hard shot at the Owl’s goal with five minutes left in the game. The shot deflected off a Florida Atlantic defender and carried on into the net, giving the Mean Green the lead and the eventual win. The game was played at the Mean Green home field in Denton.

  10. The Mean Green North Texas (0-2, 0-1 Conference USA) plans for a conference opener win were ruined by the Rice Owls (1-2, 1-0 Conference USA) 38-24 at Apogee Stadium on Saturday, Sep. 19. The Mean Green had a slim 3 point held at the end of the 1st quarter. After that the Owls then were able to score 38 of the game's next 45 points to take a 38-10 lead late in the third quarter. North Texas managed to score two second half touchdowns to pull to within 14 points of Rice, but the Owls defense proved to be too much. North Texas quarterback Andrew McNulty finished with 303 yards and two touchdowns through the air and Carlos Harris had 193 yards and a pair of TD's receiving. North Texas next two games will be on the road at the University of Iowa on Sep. 26 and at Southern Mississippi on Oct. 3. The Mean Green will not play at home until Oct. 10. When they will face Portland State in a non-conference game at Apogee Stadium.   11. The Mean Green North Texas (0-1, 0-1 Conference USA) traveled 40 miles south from Denton to Dallas for their 1st game of the season. Where they were defeat at Ford Stadium by the SMU Mustangs (1-1) 31-13. It was a close game at the end of the 3rd quarter the Mean Green held a slim 13-10 lead. They the Mustangs offense woke up and scored 21 unanswered points against a tried Mean Green defense to put the game away. As North Texas Mean Green prepared to meet the SMU Mustangs at Ford Stadium in Dallas on Saturday, September 12, former President George Bush was present at the pre-game activities which included player warm ups, performances by the Mean Green Brigade and SMU bands, and the presentation of the Colors. George Bush, along with Laura Bush, participated during the coin toss at the 50-yard line.   13. North Texas Mean Green Soccer team (5-1, 0-0 Conference USA) beat the Houston Cougars 3-0 in a non-conference game on Sunday, September 6, 2015. The match was played at the Mean Green home field in Denton. The next North Texas home game will be another non-conference game against Lamar on Sep.11.
  14. North Texas Mean Green volleyball held the Green-White scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Mean Green Volleyball Center. The scrimmage allowed fans to see what the team has been working on leading up to the 2015 season. Head coach Andrew Palileo took the team through a couple of drills before splitting the roster into groups of two for a 2 game exhibition. The first Mean Green home game of the season will be on Monday, Sep. 7 at 1:00 PM.
