  1. I never thought I'd see the day when I was rooting for the Cowboys and pumped to watch their preseason games. Luckily, both were nationally televised so far, and next week I'll be back in the area, so I can see the last 2. Olawale looked really good in both games. His YPC have been meh, but he also got hosed of a 13 yard run because one of the second string lineman committed an idiotic hold. He has looked really good blocking, and out of the backfield as a receiver. I really want to see Dunbar next week. How cool would it be if they kept Dunbar on as a change of pace 3rd/4th string rusher and a kick/punt returner, and they kept Olawale on as a FB and a goalline/short yardage bruiser? Two NT guys making the same team would be awesome. I'm looking forward to rooting for both of them into the future. Also, as a quick side note, I think Olawale will get picked up by someone else if they waive him to try to practice squad him. Big backs that are showing natural talent with minimal experience are hard to come by, and he might be worth it as a project pickup for someone else.
  2. As a Sox fan (the Red ones, not those boring White ones), I have seen baseball be a very very funny thing. Last September must have been absolutely hilarious to the rest of the league, outside of Boston and Atlanta. I have little faith we'll turn it around this year, either. I think the Rangers will be fine, the Angels are in trouble unless Haren figures it out. But, good luck to both teams. I'd like to enjoy watching either of you in the playoffs beat up on the Yankees rather than watch the A's get swept in round 1.
  3. Hahahaha. This is a valid argument.
  4. Thank frig. That would be annoying.
  5. I think you need to do some further reading on the subject. CFA is not discriminating. I never said they did. They donate to organizations, not companies (so they don't have customers, and their "employees" have the exact same set of opinions that they do, otherwise they would not work for/volunteer for them, so they cannot discriminate in the work place anyways, so your point is moot), whose primary purpose is to pass discriminatory laws against homosexuals that are veiled in a cloak of pseudo-Christianity. Anyways, to answer your question, I'll gladly tell you the who, what, where, when, and why, since no one else seems to be able to look on their own. The WinShape Foundation is how CFA donates most of it's money. It is nearly entirely financially backed by CFA, and all of CFA's donations get funneled through the WinShape Foundation. So, where have some of these donations gone, and why do they matter? I'll go one by one. Exodus International: An organization that promotes and helps fund "conversion therapy" for gays, and is opposed to same sex marriage legalization. Family Research Council: A lobbying group based in Washington DC whose primary purpose is to legislate conservative Christian ideals, most notably opposing same sex marriage. The Southern Poverty Law Center has marked the FRC as an anti gay hate group. And the worst one, The Marriage & Family Foundation, where CFA donated over $1 Million to in 2010: A Virginia based organization that promotes a society in which God is front and center, and all values and laws are Christian. The following is taken directly from their (TM&FF) website: "What we are doing: Strengthening Marriage | Virginia’s no-fault divorce laws make unilateral divorce too easy. These laws need to be tightened to encourage marriage counseling and to protect the best interest of children. Opposing Domestic Partner Benefits | Homosexual advocates have worked to diminish the status of marriage by providing marriage benefits to any relationship. Already, private companies in Virginia can do so. Despite a marriage amendment that prohibits this, efforts are underway to expand this to state and local government. Opposing Homosexual Behavior as a Protected Class | Every year there are efforts in Virginia to add homosexuality to the list of protected classes in non-discrimination laws. This is not only unnecessary, as no evidence of discrimination exists, but has potential negative ramifications on religious liberty. So not only do they want to make divorcing more difficult, which is an infringement on a person's freedom, they want to put laws into place that disallow civil unions and allow discrimination of homosexuals. CFA donated over a million dollars to these guys. So yeah, that's how these organizations discriminate. Any questions? By the way, there are more than these 3. Do some individual research if you're interested.
  6. are we really playing MTSU 3 times???
  7. No one is telling you that you can't eat CFA. People are telling you that you can't tell people to not be gay.
  8. POOP. Seriously though, the team likes him enough to keep him around until he can play, but he's going to run out of opportunities very quickly in the NFL. I really hope he can play a large amount next week.
  9. I'm not calling for anyone to do anything here. I'm simply stating why this could be a messy situation. I could really care less either way. I'll eat at CFA on campus and then donate to a pro gay marriage charity every time I do so, to offset where .01% of my money is going. I'm just explaining WHY it could be a problem. Not at all. I never even said that I wanted the university to remove it. As I said to the other response, I could really care less. I'll eat there out of convenience on occasion, and then donate to a charity of my choosing to offset it. It is my position that no one is actually paying attention to why this is a potential problem, that is all. It has nothing to do with believing things, it has everything to do with a public school profiting off of a company that donates money to organizations that discriminate. I'm as open as it gets about beliefs, trust me. I could care less what anyone else believes or doesn't believe. One of my best friends is as Christian as it gets. I am all for live and let live. The problem here is, CFA is not, and they make that clear by who they donate to, so it MIGHT be a problem for a PUBLIC school to do business with them. I am not sure of that. I do not know 100%. If a petition gained national traction and got 100,000 signees and the issue went all the way to the Supreme Court, I have zero clue what they would rule. I'm just stating WHY THIS COULD BE A PROBLEM, NOT WHAT I THINK SHOULD HAPPEN. Reading comprehension people!!!!!
  10. Wait, none of you actually see what the legitimate problem is here? Really???? Let me break it down for you. I'll start by telling you what this is not. This is not an issue of free speech. This is not an issue of suppressing the rights of CFA's supporters. This is not an issue over the rights of the students to be able to choose where they eat. This is not an issue of religion. This is not an issue of whether UNT should care about CFA's personal beliefs. Well what is it then? The reason there is a problem here, and a messy one at that, is because UNT is a public school. UNT is a government/taxpayer funded public research university. If UNT were a private school, there would be zero problem or debate. Anyone calling for a private school to remove a CFA from campus isn't going to get very far with that, because private schools can do whatever they want. So, what's the difference here? As I said, UNT is PUBLIC. Funded by the public, overseen by the government. The reason that makes a difference, is it may not be okay for a public university to promote a company that donates a portion of their profits to organizations that use that money to try to legislate their religious beliefs, namely anti gay laws. And even more likely, is that it is not okay for a public university to PROFIT off of a company that donates a portion of their profits to organizations trying to enact anti gay laws. What you're all forgetting is that UNT is profiting off of having CFA on campus. It doesn't matter if after CFA is removed, they open a store across from campus. That's cool. They can do that, and I'll probably eat there. It doesn't even matter if they open up their brand new world HQ building across from campus. That's totally fine. They're a private company, they can do whatever the hell they want and it shouldn't matter to us what they do. But, it might matter that UNT profits from having them on campus. I'm not a legal expert, so I do no know. But, you guys are totally misunderstanding why this is an issue. It isn't about what CFA says, said, believes, wants, whatever. It's about where they donated.
  11. I'm aware of this, I was just being homerish as a joke. He definitely needs to develop a couple of go-to moves down low, and quicken his release. The only thing standing between him and a top 3 pick is a larger offensive repertoire and reducing the number of turnovers.
  12. Oh jeez. This could be an all out war if the university decides to remove it. I can really see both sides of it. I guess, what it comes down to, is if the university feels comfortable leaving a company that donates to anti-gay causes on campus. If this were a private school, there would be no issue. But because it's public.....it could be ugly.
  13. That was my initial reaction. But they're sharing it with the MLS's Houston Dynamo, and it looks hideous.
  14. http://www.tsu.edu/Athletics/sports_pdf/mens-sports/football/fbschedule2012.pdf North Texas State??? Really??? You know...this would be slightly acceptable for an out of state school that has no clue but........this is a pretty stupid screwup on their part. Obviously, no big deal, but I'd like to beat them by 90 now just to spite their idiocy.
  15. HA! Mediocre offensive skills. A man that shoots 47% from 3 does not have mediocre offensive skills. They'll see this year...
  16. I've wondered the same thing. I think it's because he doesn't have a life and gets off to annoying people.
  17. Well this turned into a strange conversation pretty quickly. Thanks for the info everyone, I'm not really concerned about it, more just curious. When something outside of the local area makes the local news, it kind of gets your attention haha. And considering I heard the DFW area and Denton were among the worst, I figured it was worth an ask (; On a side note, don't you crazy southerners mock my Yankee heritage! I actually hate that term, not because I am offended by what people mean by it, but because I am offended to be associated with the New York Yankees in any way, shape, or form. You may as well be calling me...wait, actually there is nothing worse than being associated with the New York Yankees. I legitimately have nothing to compare it to. Anyways, long live the north!
  18. Agreed 100%. I hate putting so much stock into a week 4 game, but a loss against Troy means going on a 2 game road trip with a 1-3 record where 1 game is a guarantee loss and the other we SHOULD win, but we might be hung over from the Troy loss. At best you're looking at 2-4 after a Troy loss and the road trip, to come home against a tough ULL team on national TV. A win in that game would solve a lot, but that is no cake walk, so a Troy loss could mean an easy 2-5 start with 3 road games to go. Not good at all.
  19. But I'd much rather learn from fans than from a football statistic website! Thank you sir.
  20. Maybe he could wear an eye patch on game days. That would be intimidating.
  21. I believe there is something on meangreensports.com where you can see the student road game prices. I'd just google meangreensports student road games 2012 football, and see what comes up, or go into the archive on the site. I remember seeing it there though.
  22. Thanks for the info man. This is why I ask questions, you learn things.
  23. I'm going to have to go with Sir Calvin Wallace for my first ever pick.
  24. Okay, now that's just idiotic. I was afraid that this would turn into a pissing contest, and it looks like the first weiner has been exposed. I didn't understand the point of having an HD videoboard at the new Allen stadium, even though they're going to have a slew of other games played there. I don't agree with spending $60 million on that stadium, but at least it has been shown that they needed a new one, and that it is going to help in some ways (though something 1/3 the price would have sufficed), but Carthage adding a videoboard just for the fun of it is pretty stupid. Like one of the people said in the article, it's about pleasing the adults, not about the kids.
