  1. No new bowls will be certified until 2019. http://espn.go.com/college-football/stor...bowl-games Not great news for eastern CUSA fans who were hoping to have another bowl option in the Southeast, since Myrtle Beach and Charleston were pursuing certification for this season, but at the same time nothing's preventing them from getting an existing bowl to move there, I guess.
  2. UTEP is have at least one player transfer. Christian Romine, who only played in 14 games this season has asked for and been granted his release. In addition there are rumors that Omega Harris is again having academic problems. He missed the first semester this past season because of academic issues. The rumor is that Floyd is going to kick him off the team (IMO this is what should be done). There is also a rumor that Lee Moore is looking at going to Europe to play. At least one of those rumors seems to be true because UTEP is hosting Katin Reinhart who is a senior transfer from USC. ESPN ranks Reinhart as the #5 available transfer this year. Reinhart is also considering Marquette, Alabama, VCU, Uconn, Xavier, Providence, and Texas. UTEP is also looking at UCF transfer Matt Williams. Williams was UCF's best three point shooter this past season making 55. Williams is also considering Wake Forest, George Washington, Rider, and Miami. As a long time UTEP fan I am getting tired of the revolving door that our basketball program has become.

  9. I hate the term mid-major... The 'March Madness' path still maddening for mid-majors ...If there’s any coach in the country who could relate to the disappointment Monmouth felt on Selection Sunday, it’s Kermit Davis at Middle Tennessee. Davis and the Blue Raiders became one of the stars of this year’s NCAA Tournament after busting America’s collective bracket by upsetting highly regarded two seed Michigan State. But it was only four years ago that Middle Tennessee was Monmouth; sitting on the outside of the NCAA Tournament in 2012 despite 27 wins, the best record in the Sun Belt and wins over UCLA, Ole Miss and tournament participant Belmont. The Blue Raiders won 28 games, beat SEC Tournament champion Vanderbilt and Ole Miss again the next season, but were one of the last four teams in the NCAA Tournament after being upset again in the Sun Belt Tournament. “Our nonconference schedule was so good that year, but even then we had no margin for error,” Davis said. “The whole thing is you’ve got to win games and schedule smart for the selection committee to even consider you. “That’s hard for mid-major coaches to do who are trying to progress their programs and keep their jobs.” .....

  11. UTSA to name OU assistant as new head basketball coach, reports say Quote:AN ANTONIO - UTSA is expected to hire University of Oklahoma assistant basketball coach Steve Henson as the new head coach of the Roadrunners, according to multiple reports. The move, which has been reported by ESPN Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman and "Oklahoman" reporter Ryan Aber, comes after the firing of previous head coach Brooks Thompson earlier this month. Thompson spent 10 seasons at UTSA and compiled an overall record of 133-178. His firing comes on the heels of a 5-27 season. http://www.ksat.com/sports/utsa-to-name-...eports-say

  16. Details coming soon. From what I'm hearing, we are back to being involved with ESPN. I just hope we're not on the hook for a bunch of Mid-Week football games.
  17. If their coach isn't coach of the year, he got screwed. 30-4 now with some impressive wins. The comeback win over Purdue today was awesome. Love the underdog upsets.
  18. Congrats to both teams for getting to the Championship game. Should be a great game. Best of luck to both teams.

  21. Looks like that is what they are doing. What a shame. Considering all the work Coker put into starting that program, UTSA needs to pay up what he is owed. Very sad. http://blog.mysanantonio.com/utsa/2016/0...rry-coker/ SAN ANTONIO — The Larry Coker story has taken a few odd twists in the last several hours. Here is the latest: UTSA’s former football coach said in an interview earlier this week that he is due a buyout after being fired, noting succinctly, “They let me go.” He also said his exit from the university fell under a “termination without cause” section of his contract, which would trigger the payments. “I had a buyout,” Coker said. “They had to pay me to make a change. Just whatever my contract said, that’s what they had to pay me. It was only fair. They knew that when they let me go.” UTSA isn’t commenting on Coker’s assertion that he is scheduled to receive the payments. But university officials are disputing an Express-News calculation, based on language in the coach’s contract, that his buyout could reach $1.56 million over three years. Here is a give-and-take that between the E-N and spokesman Joe Izbrand Friday afternoon: Izbrand: “What you’re reporting is not accurate.” E-N: “What specifically is wrong with it?” Izbrand: “The numbers that you are quoting as a payout to coach Coker.” At this point, Izbrand side-stepped a question about what the payout numbers are. He suggested that the newspaper file an open records request to get the information.

  23. Reasons Reallignment and teams moving from FCS to FBS is over !! The bottom line to these given rules now put a cap on the all the change. Check out this discussion: csnbbs.com/thread-772302.html 1. You can have a CCG with less than 12 members. 2. Each G-5 conference gets 10 million per conference from the CFP not 1 million per school 3. The 10 Conference agreement revenue distribution in place for another 10 years This Translates to the following: 1. Any FCS school that did not move from FCS to FBS by now will have no chance of moving up. (Coastal Carolina got the lucky last spot) 2. G-5 conferences will not replace schools if raided unless their number falls below 10 schools 3. Realignment is basically over. The most that could happen is the Big 12 invite 2 teams and thats where it would stop. 4. There would be no support from the P-5 and G-5 conferences to vote to add an 11th FBS Conference to split revenue further , even in the next agreement 10 years from now. So there will be no splitting of conferences, trading teams, forming a new conferences it simply is not going to happen period... All those teams in C-usa that moved from FCS to FBS be glad you did because that window is shut now.
  24. Anyone watching and thoughts? The Republican debates have really devolved into children yelling at each other. But it is highly entertaining.
  25. I post this here to simply inform those who were impressed with the recent success of ULL football. Quote: The University of Louisiana at Lafayette must vacate 22 wins, including two New Orleans Bowl titles and the shared 2013 Sun Belt Conference championship, it was announced Thursday. The NCAA Committee on Infractions' ruling is a result of an investigation into alleged improprieties committed by former football assistant coach David Saunders, as reported by The Advocate. The University will vacate eight wins from the 2011 season, four from 2012, eight from 2013 and two from 2014. According to the findings, Saunders acted alone in falsifying ACT scores of five prospective student-athletes, per KATC. "While it is disappointing to vacate these victories and championships, we finally put this chapter behind us and will continue to grow our championship football program," Louisiana-Lafayette athletics director Scott Farmer said in a statement. "We stand behind the integrity and accomplishments of coach Mark Hudspeth, members of his coaching staff and each of our student-athletes who played football during the Hudspeth era." http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2016/...ith_n.html
