  1. Now actually an Assistant Director at UL-Monroe. Actually redundant facilities are quite common. At the bigger D1 programs, each sports has it own weight room. It is easier to program their training with sports specific training equipment. It also makes all sports training programs more efficient time and coaching wise. Putting the IPF in place of the existing practice fields would be a perfect location. Of course you would have to build another outdoor practice field either in the intermural area or in the big open space adjacent to Victor Parking Lot.
  2. From my S&C Coach connections. If you have a IPF, your schedules/workouts never change due to weather. Inclement weather reduces the effectiveness of the training session if it has to be done outside in the rain, sleet, snow, mud, heat or cold. At BYU, they used their facility almost exclusively during the offseason before Spring Football. I know that's in Utah. But even at UL- Monroe, they had a very wet spring that impacted their ability to train effectively outdoors. It even impacted their Spring practices and the start of two a days. And when I talk about rain, I am not talking the wet part, but the lightning part. Lightning is the big bugaboo now with all sorts of time restrictions that have to be met. At BYU they trained all the outdoor sports in the IPF and even the band uses it to practice on inclement weather days. Midway High School here in Waco has a full 100 yard IPF. It is VERY nice facility. Better than some D1 universities. They have drop down batting cages for baseball and softball and they can even do infield practice inside with diamond outline and bases already on the carpet. And yes.. It is a huge recruiting selling point.
  3. Okie State vs Purdue in the 2013 HOD Attendance 48,313 Just think if we would have played a team that bought more than 500 fans. But NO to regular season game at Cotton Bowl OR Jerry World. If A&M and Baylor can play at Ford Field, they can play at Apogee.
  4. Houston pretty much dominated the SWC in the late 70's before SMU and A&M went on their runs.
  5. And no "How it was at Florida" stories.
  6. I wouldn't base your evaluation on the Florida game. They had speed to burn. Very few are going to get separation on them. Same for the Oline against them. Probably the fastest team- D speed in the country.
  7. Honestly, you want to play in Jerry World when UNT cannot even sell out Apogee? You play an Alabama in JW it will essentially be an Alabama home game. 75,000 Alabama fans (because they can get tickets to away games like this) and maybe 10K Mean Green. Playing the Pigs is Fayetteville is actually pretty damd fun. Did it once. Nothing like seething hatred coming from the stands. Same as playing at DKR or Death Valley.
  8. No it's half and half. Yea, I would like it if they are out of Jerry's contract. You go from a having a true home field advantage to a stadium that is half and half. As plush /nice as Jerry World is, it does not have the atmosphere of Kyle Field.
  9. Screw Jerry World. A&M had no problem playing SMU at Ford. Indiana had no problem coming to Apogee. K-state had no problem coming to old stadium. Make them come to you, even the SEC teams. That is why they call them "Sell Outs".
  10. Two neutral site games last year. Arizona State at NRG in Houston (essentially a home game) and their annual affair with Jerry's Hogs at Jerry World. I cannot wait for them to get out of that contract.
  11. From a parent of a former player perspective, those "body bag" are a big plus in recruiting. Ask my former player his thoughts on playing at LSU, Alabama, Clemson and Georgia. Mine was pissed because his class didn't get to play tu in Austin (they thought they could have beat the crap out of them). Even where he coaches now, UL-M, his kids got really fired up about playing OU last weekend. The same to be said about Auburn later on during the season Its an opportunity for them to shine on the big stage against the best of the best. He relishes the game at Alabama where he went toe to toe with the Outland trophy winner on every defensive snap. He beams with pride about his teams performance in the Georgia game. That game alone made a huge impact on the outcome of the season. Nothing was to big for them to handle. I am all for 6 games at home and a very BIG no to neutral sites (slap in the face of your city, and why spend the money on nice stadiums if you don't use them). I still say one game against a P5 conference a year (home and home at minimum) for sure. Carry on.
  12. Most of the 2013 season except for Ohio, Tulane and UTSA.
  13. Hilbert Jackson's jersey from 2013 season.
  14. To compare these school's mascots with A&Ms' Muster is idiotic. Muster has nothing to do with football or mascots. It is a freaking memorial service for those who have died during the school year.
  15. Chico's....
  16. Can you guess which offense Thompson will be running?????
  17. Nothing less than Power 5 School.
  18. This will really get you going then. Still gives me goosebumps.
  19. rjy.photoshelter.com The "Stand" 100%
  20. An ironic photo... now a S&C coach at ULM.
  21. Look at Texas Tech, Baylor, Oklahoma, TCU and Houston. They all run the same offence and pretty much in the bottom of the toilet when it comes to Time of Possession . ToP is irrelevant in this offence.
  22. I agree, Woody's is awesome. Extremely good food. However, Bucee's is worth the stop for the restrooms, price of gas, Icees and Spicy/Cheese Bucee Nuts. I only wish the one on 114 had been there during my fall weekend trips to Denton. HEB owns Waco. The big HEB Super Stores are really nice.
