  1. Seen worse conditions and attendance....Middle.....2011.
  2. Saw them out play Baylor last year. They have some very big and talented WRs.
  3. Another question is how would have Thompson performed under the present regime?
  4. The Aggies have never had a grand pre game entrance. Texas Aggie Halftime. Never needed one. The best time to go to the concession stand is halftime because no one leaves........
  5. I just read the twitter. His high school buddies are at Navarro.
  6. I see that he is heading to Navarro JC. His high school buddies are there.
  7. Oh hell no.. Not for all the money in the world. 12th Man Kick Off Team
  8. Walk-ons.. You are responsible for everything just like a normal student. Besides game day meal, if you are scheduled to dress, you get two game tickets. That's it. Not even a jersey with your name on the back. You will see lots of walk-ons survive a season or two but then have a realization that their time is more important studying than spending 6 to 8 hours a day being a tackle dummy. Schools spend a lot of money on scholarships. They are not going to give walk-ons a chance unless they are hidden gems. I did it for four years at A&M. I was lucky. I got to play on special teams quiet a bit. But for the guys that didn't it was brutal getting the crap pounded out of you everyday and then not even get to dress on game days. In regards to athletes admissions? Schools have different standards when it comes to athletes and normal students. Let's take Rice for example. A normal student is required to have something like a 28 or 29 SAT score. A football player has to have a 19. Two points above the NCAA minimum of 17. Same for Baylor. Lots of schools stick with the NCAA minimum.
  9. The kids loved him. He was 66 years old. Had been coaching for 38 years. He retired and went to the beach.
  10. That was topped by the meltdown in the Rose Bowl last year. There have been many games too numerous to mention that come to mind that are far worse than getting killed by OU. Some that I witnessed : 2008 vs Arkie St at Kyle Field. 2004 Vs Baylor at the Case. Hadn't lost to them 18 years previously. 1996 vs U La La at Kyle Field. 1991 vs Tulsa. The worst ones were any time A&M played Texas Tech from 1995 to 2008. 11-3 TTshirts.
  11. As a 'newbie'.. 1. The "Stand". I still get chill bumps when I watch it. 2. The WHOLE 2013 Season. The Georgia game was freaking awesome as was ALL the road wins! Ball State was nuts. Ryan has told me stories of the Ball St. O-line puking their guts up right on the line. The reactions and comments made by he and his team mates are priceless! 3. Lance against Mid Tenn. All that has to be said. 3a. Any time Brelan touched the ball. 4. Kansas St. 2010 game in Fouts with Chico coaching. That was a hell of a show. 5. Kansas St game in 2012. Gave them everything they wanted and more. 6. My proudest.... the Alabama game in 2011. The boy went toe to toe with probably the best O-line in the country the whole night. 7. Last but not least. Becoming a member of the Mean Green family!
  12. You gamble big time with the weather on a bowl game in Dallas. More times than not the weather is horrible. Even when it was the "Cotton Bowl" with Heisman Trophy winners and the SWC, you froze your ass off pretty much every year.
  13. My inside source says Barkley is a freak. Power cleans 500 lbs.
  14. If there is school that can match Notre Dame in finances it is BYU. They have more money than Moroni . They want for nothing facility wise. They mention a need and the fund raisers pounce. Very much like A&M. BYU's biggest hurdle to being in a conference in the no sports on Sundays. That hits pretty much all sports except football. Even the football team does not meet on Sundays.
  15. Yea I know. Lots of tats and nice cars though.
  16. 25 at the 4 A level and some 3A.
  17. How many athletic guys (6'1" to 6'5" , 260lbs plus pounds) with quick feet, quick hands and have good football instincts did you play sports in high school with? How many athletic guys (5'10" plus, 185 to 225 lbs) with the same skill sets did you know in high school?
  18. I'll bet a dollar that Cody Fulp will be in the mix either at inside LB or DE before the season starts.
  19. That is a huge factor in player development. It takes your program to the next level. I know Baylor and A&M have nutrition centers specifically for athletes with specific diets customized per individual. A&M actually has separate centers that cater to specific sports. Another big thing is to provide snacks, energy/protein drinks (the good for you kind) and foods continuously. Fuel so to speak. You see this at the entrances to the S&C facilities, much like stereotypical juice bars in high end fitness gyms. Baylor has an entire room for this in their baseball stadium. To give you an idea on what programs spend on this, Arkansas States' program budget is $100K for these "snacks". BYU's is three times that.
  20. Jeremiah Chapman - Last I heard he works for a performance development company in the Metroplex. They run a lot of the high school summer off season programs around the Metroplex. Also train higher level athletes. Not sure of the company's name. Ryan worked for him at Flower Mound or Marcus for his summer job when he was at North Texas. Very good friends with his uncle.
  21. Not really on the Dline side . They may go three deep and then you have ones that occupy multiple slots on the depth chart. True top flight DL are harder to find that top flight Quarterbacks.
  22. That is true but if you ask a strength and condition coach "How do I gain weight?" to a man they will tell you "Eat!". Lots of guys will run their asses off during offseason in order to get faster/in better shape. Thing is they are not gaining weight. Coach tells them to "Eat More" . Ryan fought that for four years. Now that he is on the other side of the equation his advice to his players...... "EAT!" I have seen Ybarbo and others from Ryan's teams and they look nothing like they used to, so much so I didn't even recognize them. I asked him how did he go from 300 down to 240. He said "I stopped having to continuously eat ". Even Ryan is down to something like 225.
  23. Sorry guys, it is actually more about eating than strength training, specially for the big guys.
  24. Glad to see Cody Fulp getting love. I have a feeling that he will become a DE. Chapman - Boutwell - Fulp. "d" line continues.
  25. I know they had them until 2014 (for 2013 season). They were held in a big banquet room on campus.
