LIke me some # 90... Good Game...got the monkey off the back. Good road trip too.

Apparently someone wants to see them play. Every game is a sell out this year. That's playing SMU, Louisiana Compass school, the frog, Okie Lite, KU and K-State. That's with 15,000 more seats than Apogee and 20,000 fewer students the UNT. Visitor allotment is only 3,800 tickets.

Interesting note regarding this years students

Lots of Mean Green alumi in MG t-shirts showing up in Waco. Was at a referee chapter meeting last night and there were three of them. I used to be the only one that wore them. Pretty cool. -
Seeing what Strong did at Louisville and his mentallity, I think tu will try to ram it down our throats. He has that same thought process that Mac has. He will also be out to prove a point that the good old days of Texas muscling opponents around is back. He doesn't have that lights out passer that he had at Louisville either. He does have the pick of the litter in Texas High School football talent; huge Olinemen and lots of top tier RBs. He will use them.

Yes, there will be drop offs. You don't replace 87 game starts with 13 starts and not have a drop off. Linc(7 starts) has the only real game experience due to the rotation at DT.. I do think he will shine this year. As far as upgrades? I don't see it. They will be hard pressed to come even close to matching last year's production. I sincerely hope that I am wrong.

It was very seldom that the Front 7 was beaten into submission the last several years. . K-State rushed for 143 yards. They rushed for 213 vs Oklahoma, 178 vs Texas, and 191 vs Okie State. Georgia's Todd Gurley had 91 yards rushing. He ran for 154 vs Clemson and 132 vs South Carolina the previous two weeks. LSU and Alabama were the only ones that I recall that pounded the Mean Green by the run.

They had to go to Nikes and Reeboks because the UA cleats wore very quickly. Same for their workout shoes.

Two Paycheck Games vs Home/Home With Regional G5
DT 90 replied to greenit's topic in Mean Green Football
Good showings but do they bring 10 to 12,000 ala K-State. Sam Houston and Stephen F. Ausitn drew over 40 K to Reliant last year. Two FCS schools. I'd drive to Denton to see either one of those teams play the Mean Green, not so much the Academies. Academies are a bad choice to begin with. They run offense that you don't see for several seasons. They have nothing in common with any other opponent that you will play the rest of the year. Night mare to prepare for. And they do nothing for your strength of schedule. -

Obviously I would prefer Home and Home. -
Two Paycheck Games vs Home/Home With Regional G5

You have Former Service Academy folks. 95% of former service folks don't give two cents about the academies. Most are die hard fans of their favorite schools , just like you and me. -

Speaking from now a casual fans stand point, games that I would drive to Denton to see: What's with all the love of the service academies??? No, No and No. I'd push for a two for one with any non-Texas mid to lower level Big 12, SEC, or Big 10 team. Gives them reason to come to Texas to recruit the Metroplex. Most have decent local fan bases. I'd be all over any MAC team for a Home and Home series too. If Houston or Tulsa wanted a home and home. That would be great too. I wouldn't touch a Mountain West team or any FCS team... unless its SFA or SHSU. Those would be the only FCS teams I would schedule. They bring the house when they travel. -
I asked Ryan about this after the Georgia game last year. He said they prepare for those games just like they prepare for the other ones. The only difference is that when you watch film it is like watching ESPN SportCenter hgihlights. They watched film on Georgia and South Carolina last year. Clowney was doing swim moves over a 6'7" Offensive Tackle. Also showed him taking lots of plays off. They get a little extra juiced for these games but the prep is the same no matter which week it is.

Does the loss of a couple of key assistants hurt?
DT 90 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
2013 is correct. If you ever watched the sideline after one of those plays,it wasn't the postion coach that was chewing ass. I also witnessed a broken white board at the Southern Miss game after a long pass completion. Believe me, Skladany drives the ship, the other guys are just facilitators. -
Ryan counted towards the 2010 recruiting class. He signed with the 2009 class but was gray shirted to rehab a shoulder he had surgery on in June of 2009.

BUT now they can have what the Mean Green usually has behind them in opponents stadiums: drunk, obnoxious alumni. There is a silver lining.
