Yea sure. You are not a head coach of any team at BYU without being LDS. National writers don't live in the bubble that is Provo. They have more money than Moroni. I don't see it happening. -

BYU is a no-go. They don't play on Sundays. Big 12-2 wont just take them for football but for all sports. All other sports play on Sundays in the Big12-2. -
I had to post this after the Laramie Lee photo was posted.

DRC: Murray takes lead role in spring of change for UNT OL
DT 90 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
The situation is opposite of what you stated. The kids here now (Macs kids) were recruited to play the opposite type of offense than what they played in high school. No high school in Texas runs the ground and pound . I haven't seen anything similar to that in years. (Well now that I said that, Brock comes to mind) Probably 80% of the HS teams in Texas now run some form of the spread. May not run it very well, but they do it. -

Big gaps make no difference. it is the same first kick drop step as if it was foot to foot. All the big gaps mean is that the DE's have further to go. Instead of typically 7 yards across the front from OT to OT it is 10 yards . They didn't run the Pirate's offence. -

How many Olinemen come out of high schools that don't throw the ball more than 50%? Also the ball is coming out of the QBs hand in about 1.3-1.5 seconds. We have seen this from the defensive stand point for years. If the ball is coming out that fast , it doesn't matter it you have Von MIller or Michael Strahan on your Dline, you will never get to the QB.- 27 replies

Source confirmed that they voted for watches because if they got rings the cost would have eaten up funds for all the other "gifts" they received from the bowl. A couple of parents tried to organize an effort to buy rings after the win but were informed that it would be some sort of rules violation.

Team voted for watches.

It is murder on lowly assistants. Four different schools in three seasons: UNC-Pembroke, BYU, Virginia, currently at UL-Monroe.

UNT finalizing deal that with Incarnate Word for game in 2018

Baylor just signed a contract with UIW earlier this year. Maybe the downfall of Baylor in the National Championship thing this year scheduling FCS Northwest LA too. -
Texas will begin to pay players $10,000 per year
DT 90 replied to untjim1995's topic in Mean Green Football
$800 a month. Seems fair. You all have been demanding that UNT football players need to get bigger, stronger and faster. Bigger, stronger and faster at this level requires a full time commitment and it is not cheap . That means the time to workout during the summer and more so the ability to eat what you HAVE to, not what you want to. You cannot gain weight by skipping meals because you have to pay rent and utilities. You also cannot work for half the school year because the NCAA does not allow it. AND I am not going to compare what scholarship athletes have to deal with to regular students because they are NOT the same. Each has their own significant challanges.- 72 replies

Totally different physical skill sets for DL in 3-4 as opposed to 4-3. 3-4 DEs are huge (6'5" -6'6" JJ Watt types.) and their ILBs need to be around 250-260.

My source says tha the D-line plays a different technique this year, more gap penetration oriented. If they don't do that, it hangs the LB out and exposes them to the o-line blocking schemes. Last year, the D-line primary role was to keep the o-line off the LB's, hence Orr Akune and Wright were free to run and make plays. That is why you never saw any D-lineman with huge tackle totals. My source jokingly described himself as Zac Orr's on field baby sitter. NOT to take anything away from Zac by the way. He needed no assistance being a stud.

I think this is the reason why they don't use them. "Football helmet coatings – which can send the price of a basic $300 helmet up to $900" http://www.oregonlive.com/playbooks-profits/index.ssf/2013/10/nfl_ruling_on_helmets_causes_c.html -

So Even Assuming that Nicholls=Washington Generals
DT 90 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
You should be able to get any mid/lower level P5 team to come to Denton, if not the top flight teams ( A&M at SMOO) 9/10ths of the fans were Aggies. Its all about recruiting and any chance to get into the DFW/Texas market woudl be a plus. -
Its not just them, but their Mom and Dad. Go back and read all the Derek Thompson threads over the past four years....

Being a parent in the stands is a bit trying at times no matter if its Jr High, High School , or D1 Football. And yes, comments from fans about you son can easily set you off, specially when you know he is having a rough go of it. Sitting in the parent section make it easier because everyone knows who is who and tend not go nuts on players performances, except good ones, then it's high fives all around (nod to Chief Warrrant Officer Byrd (US Army Retired) . Sitting in other sections with season tickets is a bit of a hazzard, because you will hear lots of arm chair quarterbacking, and if your son is a quarterback, that can be a problem. I never had that problem, but I know what Derek Thompson's mom and dad went through for three years. Let's just say I am glad my son played Defensive Tackle. Give the guy a break. Unless he is being a total a$$ towards other fans, let him be. When your kids start playing sports, you will understand.
