Will we be able to win at least one game?
BigDanTeague replied to bleedgreen4ever's topic in Mean Green Football
The UTSA and UTEP games are in play. Road will be very difficult. But there was enough tonight to think they may compete somewhere. -
A lot of really sloppy plays, but definitely should've been starting all along. Makes plenty of mistakes but also is the only guy on the roster who can make something happen when it shouldn't.

The size difference between WKU's O-line and UNT's D-line was pronounced. EDIT: I mean, not that you expect a D-line to be close to an O-line's size. But there was a lot of 255 vs. 310 out there.

You cannot expect a true freshman in his first start to keep up with Taywan Taylor. If they get beat, they get beat. My issue is with playing the boundary corner tight and the field corner 8-10 yards off, resulting in Doughty repeatedly checking to the field for easy completions.

A CUSA team in Texas doesn't need to recruit nationally. It just needs to assemble some semblance of recruiting within its own metropolitan area, much less its own state.

OK first list was too young -- how about these?
BigDanTeague replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Why is there a stepping stone concern? No G5 school is a final destination, unless that final destination is fired into retirement. That's just the way it is. If y'all are looking for somebody to do well and stay here 15 years, then I don't know what to tell you. -

Kendal Briles -- offensive coordinator/play-caller of the No. 2 team in the nationSonny Cumbie -- co-offensive coordinator of the No. 3 team in the nationJake Spavital -- offensive coordinator/play-caller of the No. 9 team in the nationGive me that over another retread. The real question is would any of those young guys actually be interested. -

So what they're saying is ... let's hire somebody who's already been run off from elsewhere. -

Wait, what? The first list was "too young?" Is this a bit? -
There is no need whatsoever for UNT to sign a single player outside the state of Texas. What there's a need for is someone who can make players in Texas excited about signing with UNT. Hopefully whoever makes the hire does not go the retread route. That's what UNT just experienced.

That's because the people running the program (AD and past head coaches) have been clueless when it comes to promoting the potential of the program. Take the name off and consider this: fourth-largest school in Texas, largest school in Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, fantastic town, incredibly diverse student population, above average facilities for the Group Of Five level ... and did I mention it's in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, perhaps the richest recruiting grounds in America. If you don't like multiple up-and-coming, young, energetic, offensive minds tied greatly to Texas high schools, who do you suggest?

Kendal Briles, Sonny Cumbie, or Jake Spavital would be a grand slam.

We are now in the process of discovering just how serious this president is about athletics. If a change is not made, and soon, then we have our answer.

Who Should Be The Next Head Coach @UNT
BigDanTeague replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
Absolutely must be somebody with strong Texas high school ties. It's absolutely inexcusable that there's not a good Texas quarterback on this roster when the school is located in the most football-rich metropolitan area of the state.- 316 replies

Anyone want to take a flyer on Randy Edsall?
BigDanTeague replied to golfingomez's topic in Mean Green Football
Hell no. -
Literally nobody is suggesting this is a long-term solution.

I get it that some of the players are upset about their head coach getting fired moments after an October home game. But on some level they must to understand that losing by 8 1/2 touchdowns on homecoming to a team with 22 fewer scholarships is unacceptable.
-
Agree. Makes sense that RV was told if you wanna be allowed to retire instead of fired now, you must fire DM. But maybe that's wishful thinking.

Thursday is gonna be must-watch. It is gonna be wheels-off regardless of what happens. Western scored 52 in a half today.
-
Please let Smith play.

Gold.

When you're down 66-0 and have allowed almost 700 yards to an FCS school during the fourth quarter of your homecoming, nothing should surprise you.

Word for word.

Not remotely, in-the-same-galactic-entity close.
