Well something happened…. Ironically all the people who for a decade wanted to call out poor basketball play are suddenly silent. I got a few texts and calls about it so at least we aren’t crazy…. Southern threw the game.

Well losing to a D2 opponent pretty much lost all respect for Benford…. What does it do for Mac at home?

for reference here is the play by play. The last time their starters (to the best that I can see) scored/had the ball was at the 6:43 mark and other than this chunk here there was one more time around the 14-16 mark they were in when Tyler hit the big 3. Other than that the entire closing 6 minutes of the game was their bench. I will wait if someone can show me any example of a coach pulling his starters with a minimal lead and never letting them touch the floor again….They handed us the game to appease the home crowd.

Oh no… UNT won because Southern Nazarene did not play their starters for almost the entirety of the second half. Next time UNT does that in a competitive game let me know…

I guess he didn’t get a chance to drop 50 since he was benched pretty much the entire second half after going off against us in the first…. But good for UNT beating a D2 teams bench/scrubs in the second half at home….

Oh if you listens to the post game you knew why…. But ya know…. It’s smart to sit your starters around the 14 minute mark and pretty much never put them back in… that makes complete logical sense in a competitive college basketball game…. UNT athletics should be embarrassed. The game seemed clearly thrown to me and others who watched and that’s what It took for this team to beat a D2 team at home.

Nothing… but it makes me frustrated. Benford lost to a D2 team on the road and that sucked. We had to have a D2 team pretty much throw the game in the second half on our home court to win…. That honesty sucks worse. 100% being honest. This game to me is worse then Benford D2 lose and worse than Johnnys massive (what 50 points lose?) at UTSA. It reeks to me. We couldn’t even get their starters on the floor in the second half? We had to win by playing their literal bench players which consisted of some true freshman against the best guys we had at the time. This is not a win and shouldn’t be considered a win. Hate it all you want… but as a competitor… this isn’t a win. Should have just been an exhibition for us apparently.

Oh yeah they don’t score the last almost 5 minutes where they only take four shots and have all 5 starters on the bench. In an actual winnable game… ok sure… Hey when UNT is up on their next opponent at half and decides to sit their starters most of the second half you get back to me….

Yeah and I wana say more but I won’t because I shouldn’t lol… But we should not be celebrating this win. Look at the minutes their starters played in the second half and anything else you want to dig Into. This isn’t a win to me. A D2 team that sat their starters almost the entirety of the second half…. Yeah…. Oh by the way 1:11 let and their starters are still on the bench…. This isn’t right.

Especially when considering their starters have sat almost the entire second half and still are not out there…. Even if we win we had to contend with D2 bench players to get there in the second half.

Puzzling Souther Nazarene continues to sit their starters. They have legit sat their starting line up over 10 minutes in the second half. Even out if the time out they have their 5 bench guys in there. Something a little fishy about that to be honest…

Had starters in and just pulled them again. Southern is legit not trying…. Kinda embarrassing 😕 Really wana see Tyler in there to close it out. Best player getting to actually play in his home town with family present and he is on the bench most of the second half. Kinda odd…

Don’t worry…. Radio just said they are putting in their bench and that this game doesn’t count as a win or loss for them. Must have had some under the table agreement cu they seriously have sat their starters most of the second half….

Don’t worry…. Radio just said they are emptying their bench already… must have an agreement made that this is when they will throw the game 🤣 - they did just say this is an exhibition game for Southern Nazarene so win or lose it won’t count for them so they would try to get everyone playing time.

I was thinking the same thing til I realized all the new guys are experienced. We have veterans out there and 3 of the 4 news guys are all seniors. I could be wrong but at least 4 if not 5 of the 9 guys who have played for us are seniors and most others are juniors. This is a vet team who needs to be winning these games regardless. Max said in his post game they knew this was a tough opponent which is why they brought them here, but still we should win the game even if it’s single digits.

Mac said this would be a tough one to win and man I thought he was joking…. I guess he wasn’t.

Ruben and Perry both out for the game and Mac said in the pre game on the radio they don’t know how long they will be out, but we will have some new guys brining op the ball and getting to see early season minutes.

Rubin Jones as well… Mac said they didn’t know how long either would be out.

I thought somebody said he broke his ankle and is out for the season.
