There is a reason the old SWC was called the OPEC Conference.
-
Probably a bit exaggerated but not much. NIL is about to become far more important than facilities, coaching, early PT, conference affiliation, etc.

Our situation was wild. My three year old tested positive but only had what I would describe as a mild cold and just felt tired for two days. Then he was fine. My wife felt really bad for 2-3 days bordering on a severe case of the flu. Barely got out of bed. I have tested negative the entire time and I'm fully vaxxed but not boosted. It makes zero sense but I suppose its possible I was positive much early and had no symptoms.

Sorry to hear that about Coach Littrell. Hope he recovers quickly. My wife got omicron and it wasn't the walk in the park that its been made out to be. Rough couple of days and she's good now. And she was boosted!

Whoa. Who leases a beamer? You had me until then. And Uptown? c'mon bruh. Santa Monica/Hollywood Heights. Uptown is for the normies.

Are you correlating being a UNT fan to being homeless? Sheeeeit.
-
yeah but ya know....scoreboard.

Wow calling someone a lowlife for calling NIL for what it is (the future of college football)? Classy stuff. IMO, NIL is fantastic for the student athletes that are investing a ton of time and energy into representing their institutions on the field. Also risking serious, potentially life threatening injuries. If they can make some money and provide a little bit of financial security for themselves in the process they have more than earned it. SMU has already stated a goal of $4-5m annually for NIL. For some of these kids that's going to significantly impact their daily lives. Money well spent.
-
They are 3-9 and floundering in virtually all aspects of their program. And NIL is a joke for Colorado State. If your program isn't on the cutting edge of NIL you're going to get left in the dust.
-
In an expanded playoff format (and it will happen eventually) there won't be as big of a "leftovers" table as currently constituted. And if we're willing to pay Top 20 NIL we'll be just fine in attracting top high school and transfer talent.
-
Colorado State moves the needle in Denver about as much as SMU/UNT do in DFW. Its irrelevant and their program is in the toilet.
-
Its not so much openly auditioning for the Big 12 so much as ensuring that whatever the future of college football looks like that SMU will be well positioned to be involved. We're going to have one of the Top 20 NIL programs in a market ripe for transfers and soon with a stadium/facilities that will go unrivaled in the G5 for both football and basketball.
-
Yeah Big 12 is clamoring to lock down the highly coveted Ft. Collins market.
-
Making the game competitive in the 4th quarter would be a welcome change.

I'm not claiming UNT is or isn't a rival. We share a geographic footprint and (for now at least) are conference mates. Not sure where the saltiness is coming from.
-
It would be a bit more of a genuine rivalry if it wasn't such a lopsided W-L. I think with what UNT is doing and being in the AAC there could be some renewed interest and certainly some closer matchups on the field but you can't really fault SMU fans for not considering UNT a rivalry when its not competitive here at Ford.

Shovels will be in the dirt after the '22 season.

You do see the irony of a school with nearly 40k undergrads that can't draw flies talking attendance smack to a school with 6k undergrads right?

Really happy that Garry stepped up with $50m but also grateful for David Miller, Carl Sewell, and Clark Hunt for their $5-10m gifts. To have a project that will exceed $100m plus fully funded by donors is really incredible.

Money would be better spent on getting a big time NIL program. Its a total game changer.

The $1m is just the seed money that's already been raised. The expectation and goal is to get to $4-5m annually from the top 100 or so SMU boosters and then supplemented with an additional $500k-$1m from a more grassroots group (which I'm involved in at $100/month).
