  1. I think so yes. In the next decade virtually everything will be digital. You will always need a linear partner for some content but 80-90% of games are going to be offered on some kind of streaming platform.
  2. Guy is a Memphis sports journo.
  3. The problem with this line of thinking is Memphis does not have the luxury to wait around for an ACC or Big 12 invite that, in all likelihood, isn't coming. The PAC is real and its right now. Is it perfect? No. Is it better than the AAC? Yes. Passing this up would be catastrophically stupid for both Memphis and Tulane if (and this is a big IF) the money makes sense.
  4. Like I've said from the get-go. Hitch your wagon with UTSA and Tulane. DFW is a massive market (bigger than SA and NOLA combined). Pitch the market and the need for travel partners. Gotta make it happen.
  5. Recent success (Cotton Bowl victory over USC), great location, and great academics.
  6. The ACC and Clemson/FSU are literally ironing out an agreement that will secure the league's future along with dropping the lawsuits. Memphis is not going to be a member of the ACC. Ever. From an academic perspective they are a fit in the Big 12 (since the Big 12, per Yormark, doesn't care about academics at all). If they decide to stay in the AAC I would imagine it would be similar to Boise State staying in the MWC when the Big East imploded. Remember the MWC offered Boise a sweetheart of a deal that gave them more money and exposure than the other members. Perhaps Memphis (and to a lesser degree USF) are using the PAC interest to squeeze the AAC.
  7. Is traveling west that much more expensive that going to Philly, West Point, Boca Raton, Annapolis, Greenville NC, etc.?
  8. USF is higher on the totem pole than UTSA. I might be wrong but I still think the PAC needs to get to 12 schools. Some combination of UNLV, UNT, UTSA, Memphis, Tulane, and USF.
  9. I definitely think they are already working with a media partner behind the scenes otherwise they don't get the MWC 4 to leave. They have a media partner in the bag and a giant wad of PAC cash to spend to help facilitate exit fees.
  10. This is the opening salvo to what was always going to end with FSU/Clemson staying in the ACC. Contracts are binding and, unfortunately for FSU/Clemson, something they signed not once but twice. As they've taken L after L after L in the courtroom (and on the field in the case of FSU) crawling back to the ACC asking for unequal revenue sharing was the only viable option.
  11. I'm not the one who did the angry face lol.
  12. Memphis and Tulane will never have more leverage with the AAC than they do right now. I still think there is about a 75% chance they leave for the PAC but what if the AAC can offer them something to intice them to stay?
  13. LA Tech? I know they've been down recently but its a regional program that fits the geographic footprint of the AAC and keeps the conference in Louisiana.
  14. B/c as it stands now (with only 6) they are on par with the AAC from a brand perspective. Securing the four MWC programs tells me they are working behind the scenes with a media partner. Yesterday it floats that the PAC is looking to secure a deal in the $15m per school range. That is absolutely a leak to motivate Memphis/Tulane. If the money makes sense and they snag Memphis/Tulane its game/set/match. PAC is the clear cut power among the G5.
  15. That's a very good assessment. Memphis and Tulane have to take the PAC offer if extended. You need to position yourself in the best G5 league possible and that is undoubtedly going to be the PAC.
  16. Yep. This has been in the works since the ACC released the schedule model that runs through 2030. Shortening the grant of rights ensures the league goes to market at roughly the same time as the Big 12. The ACC is going to target Utah and Kansas from the Big 12. Utah to bolster the league in football as well as give an additional travel partner for CAL/Stanford. Kansas will appease the basketball wing of the league. All the noise coming from Yormark and the Big 12 agit-prop machine was pure nonsense.
  17. If that's the dollar figure then Memphis/Tulane are as good as gone. I don't know that what is being cited is accurate but even if its close you have to do it. I still think the PAC needs four more schools. UNLV, UNT, UTSA, and USF. Make it happen.
  18. Literally reposted tweets from verified journalists (not whack job clickbaiters) of the schools targeted for PAC expansion. It has been widely reported that UNLV/UN-Reno have political ties. https://www.reviewjournal.com/sports/unlv/pac-12-poaches-4-mountain-west-schools-unlv-left-out-3168075/ I never said it would be rebuilt into a power conference but rather the clear power of the G5 ensuring the PAC champion access to the playoff. No one knows what the PAC TV deal will be but with the war chest from the PAC departures and potential additions in major markets it could be enticing. I never once posted a dollar figure or even estimated what it could be. Anything else you need?
  19. Literally nothing I've said is BS. Its actually being real time corroborated in the media by multiple sources but if you want to spray diarrhea no one's stopping you I guess.
  20. Not necessarily. Those are the schools targeted. UNLV is having trouble since they are apparently attached at the hip to UN-Reno. Gotta go to the PAC and make the argument that having a presence in DFW helps bridge the geography with Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA. That's also 11 schools. Weird number. 12 makes it better and could allow for a true East/West setup.
  21. We had 32,000 for a Friday night game against BYU. Games against TCU and FSU are already sell outs. SMU has won more football games than any program in Texas the last 5 years so your .500 "at best" doesn't seem to make a lot of mathematical sense. We now have Clemson, FSU, Miami, UNC, UVA, Stanford, etc. as conference mates so I'd say the realignment maneuvering form the WAC to CUSA to AAC to ACC was very successful for SMU. SMU won its first football conference title with Rhett Lashlee at the helm not Sonny Dykes. The two previous coaches had taken SMU to bowl games prior to Dykes' arrival. I'm sure people have been able to post more incorrect information in three sentences but you've definitely given them a run for their money. Kudos.
  22. If you want to complain about things there's nothing more American than that. Have at it.
  23. Spoken like someone who has no idea the kind of commitment it takes to be a college athlete. Yes they are getting a "free" education but unlike the majority of students they spend virtually every waking hour training, practicing, studying, or in class. Virtually zero free time just to entertain a bunch of old dudes.
  24. One thing you can actually do something about and the other is just useless whining.
