  1. Green Crazy...I think so. He has room to grow in legs and ass. Sounds like Coach Wintrich has a game plan.
  2. yea...some pretty aggressive goals. they have Connors goal at 315.
  3. Foutsrouts..forgot about UTEP...good add
  4. Since I started following recruiting about 6 years ago, this has really gotten under my skin. The realignment and the coaching changes. I miss the old days of the Southwest Conference, coaches and administrators honoring contracts, and kids going to recruiting trips in a beat up old piece of crap car and driving home in a brand new Trans Am. I propose we re start the NEW SOUTHWEST CONFERENCE. The new SWC....UNT, Tulsa, Rice, Tx St., UTSA, Ark St., La Tech, ULM, ULL. Eight Conference games for each team. If it expands you have room for 2 divisions. Everyone signs on for 7 years...early exit is heavy financial penalty. Think of the "branding" / marketing opportunity.....
  5. If Coker is all that and a bag of chips...why isnt Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky (already hired a Stoops), Purdue, to name a few, not beating his door down with a 5 year, 20 million dollar contract? Why did he end up at UTSA and not one of the options that was open when he went to UTSA? NO ONE WANTED HIM!!! Even after the Nat'l championships and everything else previously mentioned.
  6. Green Dozer...UTSA currently has one 3 star and one 2 star with several NR...we have two, 2 stars" with several NR. So officially they do have "5 stars" and we have 4. As flawed as this star system is I do not give it any more credit than the paper it is printed on.
  7. average 20k a game at home...that is reported. guess it is closer to 17k
  8. UTSA...regarding the crowds..San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the US. San Ant wanted a football team as much as a I want a beer right now. They have basketball and thats it. UTSA...UNT has the upper hand on recruiting just for the simple reason that UNT has a football facility... UTSA has no practice facility except what is on a drawing and has been on a drawing for 3 years; they practice on a high school football field. And I'm sorry, I go back to their schedule and the d2 schools and d1aa schools that they beat. OK...they beat USA and Tx State. Wow, that would impress me if I were a recruit.... GMG
  9. 2 / 2....2 wins each of the last two years. Tulane should look at the Southland
  10. This absolutely SUCKS!!! Athletes are recruited and sign with a school based on several criteria. Then the "game" changes with a new coaching staff and/or a new conference realignment. Several of these places of "higher learning" there is no...very little commitment to the athletes These kids should be able to change in mid stream just like the changes that they face. Makes me want to puke.

  11. Green Crazy...he is a huge OL that was redshirted. dont think he is ready to move though. he is a track phenom that the original staff said he could compete in football and track.
  12. UTSA...has to have an asterisks beside their schedule. Beating D2, D1aa schools...They are building too, but there has to be an asterisks.
  13. UNT90...no offense taken..again, I am just a fan / dad that is trying to keep positive through a tough part of the year coming up during recruiting, off season and spring. I do agree, spring is a time to make the fan base feel good....but I think it also is a time to see what is to come. I just got off the phone with a close friend of mine who's son plays at Purdue...man...I do not wish that situation on anyone. Before anyone continues the "get rid of Mac" song, they need to talk to these boys like this kid at Purdue.
  14. The next few months leading up to signing day, recruiting, off season conditioning, etc., then spring football it self will give us a good indicator of next season. Regarding recruiting...I cannot say I am for or against it...I was a juco many moons ago. Juco's have a spot on every roster. Repeat spot / spots. To fix an immediate need would be a reason to go juco...not to "rebuild" your football team. Example...Look at Charlie Weiss at Kansas. He has over 20 transfers / juco's on his current roster. That is not healthy for long term stability on the field or in the locker room. Football is a team sport and "team" is not implemented with 20+ players being around for 2 years. And did that give him an immediate "fix"? Mac is the head coach for a reason...he has skins on the wall. And has been stated, before and argued....2 years does not rebuild a program. I like everyone else on here wishes we were bowling...but we are not. It is what it is. Until I get a UNT coaching hat and whistle, I am supporting what is done in the offices, thinking they know what is best for what is put on the football field. I would not make decisions in Coach Macs office any more than I would expect him to make a good decision in my office. Remember that a football team has many different pieces to the puzzle...I just dont think Coach Mac has all the right pieces yet...I think he will find them...but that is why he has the coaches hat and whistle...not me.
  15. gksmith...my son appears to finally have the school concept thing. it may have something to do with any short comings in the class has a little different consequences than when he was at home. LOL Although every college football player has dreams of playing in the NFL...my son realizes his chance to play is so much smaller than the percentage of boys that get to play college football at any level, much less D1.
  16. That was great article... As I give major kudos to the past UNT teams and their contributions; without those contributions what we see now in Apogee and the athletic village would not be possible...it is my hope that THE BEST IS YET TO COME. Regardless of Saturdays outcome at WKU, I think there is a since of anxiety about what can "be" in the next couple of years. We have to believe in Coach Mac...WE HAVE TO BELIEVE IN THE MEAN GREEN!!
  17. 93 98...hope all is well ...SMU would be a great rivalry. Just wish we were in the same conf. would fuel the fire even more.....whats up with you and UTSA by the way???? LOL
  18. hopefully new conf will take care of a rivalry naturally. just wanted to kick something down the road before all hell breaks loose today.
  19. UNT90..used UTSA as only example...Could be La Tech, Rice, Tx State.
  20. Think I said this the other day...but, I see the NCAA wanting 4 super conferences with multiple divisions. Then have regional conferences to comprise the MAC, CUSA, MWC, etc. Develop a 8 team bowl / playoff based upon those who win those conferences. Leftover bowls go for 2nd and 3rd place teams in conference. Want to determine a true nat'l championship...here is the way... On the field with equal shot given to mid majors...NO POLLS!!!
  21. Had a thought.... Horns vs Aggies (now TCU) Cowboys vs Redskins Want a RIVALRY...PLAY ON THANKSGIVING DAY..EVEN FRIDAY AFTER THANKSGIVING.....UNT VS UTSA
  22. Like it or not..uni's are part of the package for recruits. Facilities, coaches, uni's...they are a factor. It is what it is.
  23. Billy...sure you know where this came from....LOL
