UNT90...not saying it cant be done...but it it is very difficult

This is a terrible story and incident that will impact these guys for the rest of their lives. Some of us make bad decisions....some of us are just bad...some come from a bad situation. I do not know where these boys fall, and I hope the get what is coming to them. But I have a thought that is very compelling. A few years ago the NCAA denied "walking around" money for student athletes...Believe they were talking about 2000.00 per year. There are several arguments on this issue...1st, they are getting their education free vs. other students that are paying for theirs. 2nd, if the family does not have the means to give their student / athlete an allowance, what is the student / athlete do for money? During the season, I know they are very busy and have a schedule that I would be hard pressed to keep up with when you factor in practice, film, tutoring, classes. These boys have no time for a part time job when other students do. Personally, I am in favor of this "walking around" money and it is not because of my perspective. Think of the money wasted buying out coaches contracts, paying exit fees to a conference that you no longer want to be in....NCAA has money, are they allocating it properly???

Big East football schools facing big questions

Winning cures all the above mentioned ailments.....Mark my words today, 12/12/12, when the earth is supposed to end.... "There is a storm coming" -
Curveit around....WKU history is not too great in the Win/Loss column. They had a great year last year, but average the year before that...other than the recent two years, everything else was 1 -3 wins. They always came by Martin and had nothing to sell. Dont know, but did they have a large JUCO "fix" this past 2 years?

Curveitaround...He did have a similar situation with SMU coming to the table all be it last minute. One of the main reasons he did not go was June Jones's desire to move. When we were going thru the recruiting, my wife and I, his 2 OL coaches, his head coach and an ex team mate and close friend from Martin, Russell Bellomy, who is playing at Michigan...we all counseled him and told him to go with his "gut", even in the last minute drama with SMU, he was on the phone with all of them from 9 to 11 pm the night before signing day. But Connor is a people person and relationships are very important to him. The relationship he developed with Coach Simmonds and Coach Mac and then the belief in Coach Macs vision for the MEAN GREEN, is what sold him. And honestly...is selling him today. Anyone being recruited by WKU is going to be lured by the "name" of Bobby Petrino....but take off the rose colored glasses and how long do you think Bobby Petrino is going to stay at WKU? I would be willing to bet that this initial recruiting class will see a new head coach within 2 or 3 years. Nothing is a sure thing today in college football...coaches, conferences and contracts are not worth the paper they are written on...but if Connor was being recruited by WKU...I and I think all of Connors mentors would say...."buyer beware".

Does anyone here actually believe that he is going to be there for more than one year??? Come on....this is his dues for playing the nasty with an intern.

One thing you can say about the NCAA is change is the norm these days. We enter the season full of hope for our individual teams and then end the season in a manner that keeps everyone guessing about who will be the next coach or what conference will be moving too. Irregardless of what happens...winning on the field will cure all. It many not insulate you from the changes, but it makes the changes palatable and advantageous to the program and the university. Personally, I hope that change stays away from UNT for a few years. Win on the field for a few years and change will come to us...we wont have to go search for it. I do believe in the MEAN GREEN and Coach Macs vision.. This team is in a great position and my gut tells me that this time next year we will be looking at least a .700 winning percentage and preparing for a bowl game.

old guy .....big, EMPHATIC STATEMENT. mean green d...110% IN AGREEMENT -
Really like the new looks / uni's. What will we realistically see Aug 31 at Apogee when Idaho comes to town?
-
After watching yesterdays games and seeing the bowl games align; I firmly believe that this NEXT YEAR, the third year of MAC, the complaining on this board will be not about loosing this game or that game but the travel issues to the bowl game we will be going too. Call it being a homer, being overly optimistic or a prayerful vision...next year will be NEXT YEAR!!!

Jesse...dont think it is going to be that close. I am so tired of SEC schools winning the Nat'l Championship and even more weary of SESPNC thinking the only football is in the SEC. I personally think the NCAA should go to every SEC school and to a full blown investigation from beginning to end.

Football Weigh-Ins and Spring Expectations
trussbussdad replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
97/03...thought about that as i hit post...LOL. -
along with that, Mac committed that he could not run a nickel package this past year. going into CUSA, we will need to run a nickel or dime

Mean Green Glory...AMEN...depth and then COMPETITION. Those two things will make a winning team quicker than anything. When you dont have to take a major step back with a replacement and then that 1st teamer knows there is someone hungry going after his job....that is always a good thing. I bet that Coach Mac tells the current team like any other coach....no job is secure.
