  1. 99% of the time you can make that arguement about any Oline vs Dline on the college field. But...Ohio does not have a ZORR (i think he is one of the better LBrs in the country), along with the other LBrs and Trice backing up their Dline. Prior to the season starting I thought going 2-2 in non conference was obtainable and realistic. After only 1 game, admittingly after not a very good Idaho team, I elected to look at the glass half full and now think that 3-1 is very doable in non conf games. I do agree that this game and the Ball St game will be good tests and will tell us alot about this team. Solich is a very good coach and I know that Ohio will rebound and show better than they did against a very good Louisville team and a Heisman candidate in Bridgewater. This is a good Ohio team and I think we will have to fight and scratch every play...but I still like our chances....28-14...MEAN IN THE GREEN.
  2. I agree with Long Jim. This week will tells us alot about where we stand this year. I do like our chances in Ohio though. I watched Ohio and Louisville play. Ohio D line is very small. They were out weighed by a very large Louisville O line. We will also have at least a 30lb average advantage when comparing our O line to their D line. As of now, they will miss one of their starting LBrs due to ankle injury. I hope we can get our avg rush up to over 5 yds per carry from 4.2 yards per carry against Idaho. With DTs performance, Ohio will have to respect our pass and that should loosen up their defense some. ZORR and DT need to take control of this game like they did with Idaho. I like our chances in Ohio...28-14. .
  3. http://www.tulsaworld.com/article.aspx/TUs_Demarco_Nelson_ruled_ineligible_for_rest_of_season/20130904_94_0_TheNCA982192 Tulas safety, Demarco Nelson, (3 year starter) is academically ineligible per NCAA. Will miss the rest of the season.
  4. I'm with you UNT 90...me too. TEXAS!!!!
  5. Whatever...What I saw last night coming out of Tulsa was nothing short of an abortion. Dont give a rats _ _ _ _ if it was first or last game. If you are supposed to be the "all that"...then the team and coaches were not ready. There will be alot of that this week, the first week and alot of the blame will be "first game jitters", "dont have the game legs yet due to 2-a-days"... As long as it does not happen in Denton tomorrow night...all is good.
  6. Tulsa last night...I would take some that. And this was supposed to be the BEST team in CUSA. Not so much. OVER-RATED!!!
  7. if the cards fall right and you look at the glass half full..... 1- potentially the best O line in the conference and in the "mid majors" 2- could be the best LBrs in the conference...i think we have the best single LB in the conf and a top 20 in the nation with Orr. 3- SPEED...LOTS OF SPEED....Evans, Chancellor...remember Chancellor running away from LSU db's? to name two 4- db's seem to be better this year 5- competition at qb breeds better play at qb...who ever is qb 6- power back in pegram One thing that has not been mentioned much is the play of special teams. I think this could be a key to the Mean Green having a season like what is being predicted. Area of concern for me like most is D line. They have to hold their ground and let the LBrs run and make plays. 9-3???..a possibility with the above mentioned and staying healthy.
  8. With this discription..if we come out to play ball....35 - 7.
  9. http://www.star-telegram.com/2013/07/30/5040870/former-trinity-football-standout.html Connor played against this kid. So sad
  10. This kid has great technique...good feet. At 6'2 has room to put on weight. Bet Simmonds was excited to get this kid.
  11. Does not have to be, but should be so can work on kicking game and have room for O and D to have room to work.
  12. I watched Coach Hines working last night. He is a very good technician. The boys that got to work with him were very fortunate.
  13. Coach Conley said that Coach Grant was with the Buffalo Bills. I know several college coaches go to NFL teams to learn, just as high school coaches go to colleges to learn more. In fact, several colleges that offer camps have other coaches from high schools and even other colleges attend their camps to help. For instance, my middle son was at the Ok State camp where there were coaches from Mary Hardin Baylor and Stephen F Austin. So having coaches miss a camp and have a substitute is not out of the norm.
  14. Stan R, Of course of the people there are campers and parents, but yes, they are open to public.
  15. I disagree...Coach Conley explained prior to the camp that Coach Grant was at the Buffalo Bills doing an internship, thus a Coach from Denton Ryan ran the WR group. Recruits have to realize that they have to do something at these camps to set them apart from the other participants. The kids have to be aggressive when getting reps....jump in and be assertive. If you go to these camps and become a "fly on the wall" you will not get the recognition you want.
  16. WAS A GREAT TURN OUT. I took my son to several camps this summer and this was the largest camp he attended other than Texas A&M who had over 600 attend last Friday.
  17. Out of town, You will see on teams various web sites what ages are being targeted for certain camps. Usually a school will have camps for younger players, elementary and jr high. Then they will have camps for players in high school...9-12. Then there will be some camps for just 11 and 12 graders. There is not a limit on how many of these camps a prospect can go too. The limits come in how much contact the coaches can have with the high school kids before and after the camps...that is where there limitations.
  18. JesseMartin...spell check did not catch that one. A good point to make is that most other organizations utilize indoor facilities including softball, band..anything that needs to go indoors in BAD weather.
  19. Does UNT have ROTC? A friend of mine is a coach at South Grand Prairie and all the GP high schools got new indoor facilities with ROTC wing attached which means alot of the funding came from the US Govt. Just a thought regarding funding.
  20. Yes...practicing in the heat does have its benefits and you will see most if not all southern teams practicing in the heat. But there are other reasons to think of in having an indoor facility: 1 - It does rain in Texas and most of the time with the exception of winter, lightning comes along with those rains. There are lighting detectors that when then indicate lighting within a certain distance, all personal are moved inside. In our case at UNT, inside is the locker room. 2 - Yes...it does help recruiting. 3 - It is easy to simulate crowd noise indoors with the right sound system. 4 - WHEN we get to a bowl game or any other game...although the practices are closed, it is easy to watch a practice at UNT. When I played in highschool and college, indoor facilities=the gym...but water made you weak as well. Indoor facilities are a valuable asset these days...did mention that it does help in recruiting???
  21. Too many big games to name one: 1 - Idaho...got to win this game against a team that we should beat. 2 - Ohio and Ball St. Really need to win of these games to insure a 2-2 record in non conf games 3- Georgia...you have to think this is a "L" but....play hard and make them hurt; i.e. last year when we knocked out LSU superboy qb 4 - Conf schedule Tulane and MT...both are winnable . La Tech, So Miss, Rice...I would argue this is the "teeth" of our schedule. We need to win one of these. UTEP and UTSA; these are two we should win. Tulsa in Tulsa could be our toughest game. Good teams win games they should win...Idaho, Ohio or Ball St, Tulane, MT, One of the games between La Tech, So Miss and rice. UTEP and UTSA. Counting this way, If we can win the games that we should win or are very capable of winning...7 wins. Good teams find a way to win a game they should not win...win two of the three games in the middle with La Tech, So Miss and Rice or Tulsa....8 wins.
  22. Billy...Jaden had a long FG in your Trinity game at half....think it was 57yds? He and Ben have NFL legs.
