Yes, we should have won the game. Look at 3 missed fgs. But Div2 or crappy team? NO..Troy is ranked 10th in the nation in passing. OK..i have a son on the team and I will always be a fan and will show up for the games. Remember, Coach Mac is in his 2nd year. Dont know how many of yall have played college football, but it is proven every week that any given team can beat any team. In both LSU and Ks St we were 3-5 plays from winning or being a one score game. If you are waiting on a 12 - 0 team to come back, then on that premise, then Michigan would never sell out their games like they do every week. Im not trying to compare UNT to MIchigan, but students show up and show up in BIG numbers EVERY GAME. Oh yea...even the game a few years ago when Div 1-AA / Appalachian state beat them...did I say that any team could beat any team??? The foundation has been poured, the frame is up...help finish the construction project. MEAN GREEN is not just the football team, the basketball team, the soccer, volleyball, band or the knitting team....MEAN GREEN IS UNT. Dont throw in the towel....WAVE THE HELL OUT OF IT!!

Emmitt, I played college football back in .....well a long time ago. Schedules were so simple. My son is redshirted this year, his first year, and he has talked a length about their grueling schedule. 7 am to 9 pm with classes, meetings, practice, study hall...somewhere in there they have to find time to eat. I see men and women in the work force today that could not handle that type of schedule. Connor chose UNT because of Coach Mac and his staffs vision for the program. He had other opportunities within the conference, in the WAC and even the golden boys over in Dallas...but he saw the vision...so did his mom and I. The old phrase...."people buy from people" was never more appropriate. This is Coach Mac's 2nd season. "IT" is not built yet....but the foundation is poured and the frame is up. I was overly critical myself Sat after the game and Sunday morning. But after reading the many blogs and media....I came to realize and later posted.....It is not time to throw in the towel...IT IS TIME TO WAVE THE HELL OUT OF IT!!! In many cases, mine included, these are our boys out there on the football field. We would not have given up on them when they were growing up.... don't do it now.

And I was one earlier that was about to throw it in...Can't do it. I have only been MEAN GREEN for a short time...see alot of good stuff that I know we can get through. Its not time to throw in the towell...IT IS TIME TO WAVE THE HELL OUT!!! MEAN GREEN is not just the football team, basketball team or the band....it is UNT!!! GMG...GMG....GMG

I too have been very critical of last nights performance. The key to a loss like that is to rebound. We have a tremendous opportunity to do that against FAU and even against Houston. Troy will not go unbeaten in Sunbelt. We have to keep pushing forward and realize that this building process with Coach Mac is still in its infancy....two years does not make a program. Now two years from now if we are having this same discussion, that is a different story; but I do not think we will. Each game we have lost has been due to 3 - 5 plays per game...3-5 plays per game for a really good team does not make for a loss. So, we are not a really good team yet. We still need to make those 3 - 5 plays per game. There is a hole in the ship...dont let it go unplugged and sink the ship...including the fan base.

http://rivals.yahoo....n-Grogan-137138 Check out the link from this kid at Arlington Martin. AUTOMATIC within 50 yds. Played on the same team at Connor and Mustafa. this would be a GREAT START. In light of last night, this kid should get an offer TODAY along with the old recruiting tools of a F150 crew cab in a MEAN GREEN color.

Defense playing lights out..overstated. They play good at times. miss tackles could not be counted. Troy had nearly 400 yds total offense...no Defense did not play lights out...must disagree with you here. Special teams....Missed pat's, missed fg's, on side kick recovery, kick off return for td.....yes....special teams needs an enema. QB....NEVER THROW A BALL AWAY WITH 4TH DOWN IN OUR RED ZONE. We would have been better to throw into a crowd and force a play or take an interception, but to throw it in the stands????? Hope Berglund and /or the commit from Pflugerville "show up" to play ball. Thompson....GREAT KID...but as a qb...SLOW, and rag arm and like a box of chocolates...you never know what your going to get. OL...there was alot of penetration and backs having to get yards after being hit behind the LOS. Coaching...just as much as I would not want to be a player at practice next week, I would not want to be a coach in a meeting with Mac...play calling....was the guy sitting next to me and I the only ones that noticed that on first down, every Troy defender was within 7 yds of LOS? Not getting the correct personnel package on the field and burning a time out. Not too late to turn this season around, but i am not as optimistic as i was a few weeks ago or even last week after a great showing against K st. FIU, W. Kentucky, Ark St., ULM, ULL, and then Houston...do not look promising right now.

Winning cures all

ULM is going crazy and fans are matching. We need the same intensity on and off the field.

Looking forward to a great day in Denton and watching a very physical MEAN GREEN.

if you are having problems finding a room, i have two rooms at the best western premier that i am not going to use

We stay closer than LSU....50 pts against Miami scares me a bit. Klein is a stud with a very strong arm and runs the option very well. DE's have to hit him quick on the option with or without the ball. 42-28...IF WE GET THE BALL TO CHANCELLOR a min of 7 times. We have a horse....ride it.
-
WISHBONE...with the right personnel....it is unstoppable. But you need a bruising FB and lighting quick TB's and a QB that thrives on hitting or being hit. Hard to find all 4 on the field at one time today.

Billy Si...Great idea on a tunnel screen. also an old Martin play..think yall called it DICKEM...Can remember that play always broke with a post pattern. he just has too much speed not to get at least 7 touches a game. Hope all is well.

After playing out of our minds against LSU, then a little let down against TS; K STATE becomes a very important game. I am not saying that if we loose that our season is doomed, what I am saying is that a win could jump start this season and I think is very doable. Even to loose in a blaze of glory....but we dont need to get spanked around right now. A key to this season is getting Chancellor more involved with the offense.
-
And dont forget the kid coming if from south texas....Sure DT is a great leader...he neads "mechanics" help....slow release and throwing off his back foot ..leaning back. Looses alot of velocity.
-
I agree....I am about to move to the student section as well. Bout ready to call the west side bleachers the "deck pecker bench"...after i move to the student side

what stands out to me is our average yd, 6, per pass. we need to establish an intermediate game....20 - 40 yds. then we took the 2nd and 3rd qtrs off on offense all together. very seldom did we try to get outside and tsu bunched us up between the tackles....we ran a true option look one time that got good yardage. happy for the win, dont get me wrong...but this was a not a good offensive performance.

Texas Southern Score Predictions
trussbussdad replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
I hope to see the balanced attack similar to LSU.....really want to see our inside game get on track on a more consistent basis. really want to see #3 get the ball 7 - 10 times!!! pass, quick screen...dont think i would show a reverse with him. really want to see the HOGS carry on from last week and work the ground game. UNT - 49 TSU - 14 -

Connor did go....Im his dad and we went too. Also know Kaydon went also; saw him with Connor and set next to his family. -
LOVE IT..i really hated the thought of cheering for the cowgirls...left them when JJ bought them. hope LD does suit up and has a 200 yd rushing night.

I too saw some good stuff Saturday in Baton Rouge. First, Les Miles better be worried more about what his team didn't do, than Coach Mac. If this is the best LSU has, he has problems coming down the road. They kept the first group in till the last 4 minutes and throwing long balls and scoring in the last 4-5 minutes. If we get a holding call on a long run that resulted in a score; catch some balls for conversions...this is a much closer game. Kansas St. better beware...Houston for sure along with the rest of the Sunbelt. This years MEAN GREEN could be a very good team....a very good YOUNG team...even more dangerous going into CUSA.

Opening Game Song Before Kickoff @Apogee

im in with some old school HAIR OF THE DOG by Nazareth....or indestructible from Disturbed -
I know Coach Mac was disappointed in not staying closer to LSU...so was I. But a few observations. One td that LSU made, there was a hold where on of LSU offensive players grabbed the back of one of our defenders who was in perfect position to make the tackle and because of the hold, was unable too. Then some key dropped passes that killed a drive. A call here and a catch there and this is a 14 pt game or better. The line had LSU winning by 43. And there "super boy" qb was in till the last 2 min. If we learn from this game and put together a game like we played in 3rd qtr,, I am ready to say 8-4....maybe 9-3. OK...maybe I am over optimistic, but I saw alot of good stuff last night. Saturday night we have to ROCK APOGEE!!! and TSU!!! 3 has to get the ball more often...on the post pattern, for 80 yd td, he was running away from LSU defenders. I LOVE THE SMASH MOUTH OFFENSE!!!

Kind of ironic that "Death Valley" is on my bucket list of places to see a football game.
