  1. Thu, Aug 30 vs McNeese State L 27-21 0-1 (0-0) Sat, Sept 8 vs Florida Atlantic W 31-17 1-1 (1-0) Sat, Sept 15 @ Memphis W 48-30 2-1 (1-0) Sat, Sept 29 @ Georgia Tech W 49-28 3-1 (1-0) Sat, Oct 6 vs Louisiana-Monroe L 31-17 3-2 (1-1) Sat, Oct 13 @ Florida International W 34-30 4-2 (2-1) Look at the schedule and compare to us. OK..they beat Georgia Tech who is 2-4 over all and 1-3 in ACC. I like the matchup. GMG
  2. tk70....CUSA is a passing conference...thus defenses are designed to defend passes, not run. Politely have to disagree with you on your statement that it will not work in CUSA.
  3. AMEN to Phillips. Take that cast off and he has a pick six.
  4. Green Eggs...dont know what game you saw last night but DT had a pretty good game. 17-28 for 280 yds and 2 tds...I can think of alot of qbs that would like to have that game. Pressuring the QB..we had difficulties the first half, but the 2nd half we were in his face ALOT. I do agree ULM is going to be a tough game...probably a slug fest. But I still like our chances in a conference that has all of a sudden has as much parody as any "major" conference.
  5. I think the game that defined the rest of our season was played last night.
  6. I have been and will remain a believer that the passing game is set up by a successful running game. If you can run the ball effectively, you will naturally get the db's moving up and thinking run. Then the play action pass, is set up. Current defenses recruit to stop the pass...not the run. Then there is the mental aspect of being able to dominate your opponent physically on the line of scrimmage..i.e., the running game. If you can average 4-5 yds per rush, that is so frustrating for a d-lineman. Then the physical aspect...having a 310 O'Lineman driving you off the ball continually is physically taxing. Honestly, a few things that I would like to see is more balanced running attack on the left side, a true counter play out of the I backfield and then a trap play. Although simple in philosophy, it will catch a linebacker running out of position.
  7. The ULL game will be viewed as a huge game or even "the" pivotal game for the MEAN GREEN. Only time will tell. But the stars appeared to line up...coming from behind against a pretty good ULL team. Great stats from DT and Olen who had been crucified in the past... making big plays on offense and defense, converting on 3rd downs, defense coming up with some big stops. Again, only time will tell if how the boys respond to the lights, nat'l exposure and then the huge win of last night. But like I said, I like how things are lining up. GREAT WIN MEAN GREEN!!!
  8. ONE GAME AT TIME... ULL...then the rest of our schedule. THEN, we can start looking to CUSA. I would bet that no one that is going to be on the field tomorrow night is thinking CUSA or La Tech.
  9. Compare the schedules...LL wins against Lamar 40 - 0; wins against Troy 37-24; Losses against Ok St. 65-24; wins against FIU 48-20; wins against Tulane 41 -13. Personally, I am not impressed with their schedule with the exception of Ok ST. Yea, they beat Troy where we got beat by Troy 14 - 7, but if we did put together our A game in all three games against Troy: offense, defense and special teams against Troy, we beat them handily. Playing sub par, we nearly beat them. If we had this schedule, we have one loss vs Ok St. We play LSU tough where they play their 1st team up till 4 min left in the game and scores late....play K St tough and took them to the edge of the cliff. Play ok against Tex S and win. Don't have a good outing against Troy but still in a spot to win the game. Houston is better than most give credit for and will bowl this year. This is not going to be an easy game, but it is a game we should win....34 - 17 if all phases of our game plays their A game. I still say we are in a good spot to win SBC and go bowling. This MEAN GREEN team is a good football team and strong leadership.
  10. Love the opportunity to move to CUSA. I know the MEAN GREEN is getting better every year since DMAC stepped up.
  11. We will have more Tuesday nite than SMU will Thursday nite. More Cougar fans than SMU. Especially after their stellar performance against Tulane.
  12. 22,000 will see MEAN GREEN beat ULL 34 - 14. DT has 300 yds passing and ZO has two FG's...one from +40yds. Sure the boys realize the importance of this game...first on ESPN, 2nd...start of the conference run. Still can win SBC and go bowling.
  13. After looking at several blogs in here ...negative blogs....want to invite you all to go out and look at our "strength in schedule" vs other SBC opponents. NO ONE comes close to our schedule in difficulty. Yes, we should have won Troy game...but we beat that dead dog enough on why that game got away from us. But NO ONE has a non conf schedule like we did with LSU, K. ST. and Houston. Honestly, these are games that we could have won, but are they games we "should" have won??!!! MAYBE ...MAYBE Houston. We are about to get into the conf schedule. There is no way we should give up on a team that 3 of the 4 losses come from previously mentioned. These are our classmates, friends, relatives..some of us our own kids....support them like they are. Guess we will see who is TRUE MEAN GREEN next Tuesday night with ULL game.
  14. Big Green...comparing UNT offense to a Big 10 offense...i will take that EVERYDAY AND ALL NIGHT.
  15. Casual Fan...5 - 0 with two wins on D2 schools...not so much. I agree that the "money" games vs LSU and K st are over-rated, but for as long as the eye can see we have at least one of those. I would not mind scheduling against teams like New Mex or New Mes St., Col St., or even UTSA...but to schedule D2 schools is not legit. Would be like a 5A power house scheduling a 2A game.
  16. How Houston beat us....they had one of the best qbs in the country....that is it.
  17. UTSA...two D2 schools and the rest should be. I should hope they would be 5-0.
  18. I DONT THINK SO....
  19. Cougar King...Rice is a program that should be D1-AA....there are some high school teams that could give Rice a tough game if not beat them. If Bailiff lasts the rest of the season, it will surprise everyone. Don't hang your hat on beating Rice Owls. UH should be more concerned about loosing to Tx St and La Tech than excited about beating Rice. UNT - 31 HOUSTON - 14
  20. I think the one statistic that bothers me most is 30% so far this season on 3rd down conversions. Regarding our offensive output....If I am a def coord., I put 8 men in the box on first and 2nd down and dare us to throw. When we put our running game output in gear along with a passing game like last night...this offense could score some big points. We just have to get both "games" at the same game for the rest of the season. On the other hand, we did fight hard for a win on the road. I am beginning to think that the SB is a tougher conference than what everyone gave it credit for. Parody in college football is rampant. Look at the wins that so called mid majors are getting or taking big programs to the "edge" every week. PARODY...anyone can beat anyone on any given Saturday. Very proud of Olen....kid showed tremendous character tonight.
  21. my son visited ok state...they have pads hanging over the wall by the opponents sideline and bring in wooden paddles to beat on it with a td or first down...makes a hell of a noise
  22. NT 38...we will kick a fg. FAU...14
  23. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYPo0j7zO9w ONE MORE
  24. followed by this
  25. this would get EVERYONE fired up...especially after a day of tailgating...could see the MEAN GREEN coming out with this playing
