If there is a year an upset is in the making, this would be it. I hope our guys can reload the fellas we lost last year.

Is it close to Longhorn Cafe? Yummy.

TCU and BYU are similar if National Championships don't matter. Most schools would kill for just one at any point. They'd flaunt it too. I promise my Aggie friends would be talking about any championship forever. UTEP dang sure talks about their basketball title. To say beating Texas last year counts for nothing is absurd. Texas would destroy most college teams on an up or down year. Fact is this: BYU hung 40 on UT to win and TCU mustered 7 in a loss. Win versus loss. You can't really argue the facts. Are they ready to compete was your original question. Yes. UT was 8-5 and 7-2 in conference and it's an off year? If that's the case then our season last year was crap too. It's laughable how people think they sucked because they weren't in the hunt for a national title.

Well without laying the sarcasm in too much they are no TCU and it's a stupid comparison. Off the top of my head BYU beat the crap out of the University of Texas just last season in Football and TCU was stomped by Texas, BYU has a National Championship under their belt in Football, and BYU had a Heisman Trophy winner in Ty Detmer in the recent past. It's not a bad resume to get into a conference. So to answer your question, no, they are no TCU.

Why would Texas not want Houston? It would be damn near a home game for them because tons of their fans would show up in Houston and it's not like they don't have history playing each other. Cincinnati? Who wants to travel to Cincinnati? Texas shouldn't want Cincinnati. That being said, BYU would be competitive immediately in the Big 12 and would be a fine addition to any conference. I'm no fanboy of their way of life because I love alcohol and debauchery but this is sports y'all! I know some people don't like them for whatever their reasons but they have fielded some really good sports teams in the past. I grew up watching them in football and basketball and they can hang with anyone. I do believe in playing regional opponents though and they are pretty far out west.

Damn. UNT boots aren't uploading right now.

MGB: Breaking news -- UNT's Chris Jones to transfer
UNTexas replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Come on Harry! There were far more depressing threads after the UTSA debacle. Anyway, since the players are leaving, why not get rid of basketball and expedite baseball? It would make title 9 compliance easy. Baseball is a blast to watch. We could buy really cool caps too. They could use the old stadium for graduations and women's bball of course. Anyway, I'm clearly joking but I do want baseball ASAP. I hit some basketball games last year and it was really sad to attend. High Schools have better attendance. My 5 year old daughter even asked where all the people were. I felt bad for the cheerleaders as well as the players. -
Athlon predicts UNT v Marshall in champ game

Thanks for the link. A lot of those locations are pretty cool. HOD is always going to be beneficial for us. Any bowl in Florida would be fun. The New Mexico Bowl would be cool to tie a ski trip into. Football followed with a nice couple of days in Taos. Awesomeness. -

Every person I know that doesn't keep up with UNT I know said the flying worm looked terrible. I've been a fan for a long time and must agree with them. Historic for a one time throw back, great. They can now rest in peace in the 70s with shag carpet. -
And sadly he was injured at the end. He played great.

Or maybe they aren't going to celebrate a criminal deserter who's desertion resulted in the deaths of 6 men from his battalion that were engaged in the recovery operation? -

I like the "very effective sheep herders with a gun". That made me laugh. I just don't see how people can't understand if this guy was going to be cleared of desertion then it would have happened years ago. If he was cleared the White House would be touting him being cleared every moment of the day on every outlet possible. You simply cannot trade Taliban leadership for a deserter. If he were not a deserter I'd say the trade was right on. However, it's not the case. -

It's no game. I honestly want to know. It was a question. If the answer is higher than one then the price is too high for this soldier if he is indeed a deserter. If he's a deserter then he should have remained with the Taliban he ran to. I could give a damn about his grieving parents as well. We should grieve for the 5 soldiers we know died on the operation to find him. If he's no deserter, then its horrible all around. If he is, their deaths are on him. As far as the 5 Taliban, they'll be fighting again soon enough. It's garbage. -

UNTexas replied to UNT90's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Deserted? Throw him in prison if he deserted because better men than he died looking for his pathetic self absorbed ass. His entire unit doesn't dispute he is a deserter either. The US use to execute deserters. Now, the president holds press conferences with his parents as props in a pathetic PR stunt that has backfired. The entire story is pathetic. Additionally, how many members of our military and our allies' militaries died to capture these 5 Taliban leaders that Obama let walk in exchange for a deserter? -

I will have to go to that game. -
It's technically a violation of intellectual property rights if they are indeed counterfeit Nike merchandise. Wrong color too. More importantly, are they trying to attract gweedo chicks from Jersey?

And for some odd reason the kids being recruited care about things like uniforms, facilities, perception, image, as well as winning. It's so weird. -

Our current uniforms are great. If it were up to me the helmet logo would be the only thing I change. It lacks imagination. That being said I think they are better than anything I've seen us wear. -
Do you think they will sell beer at Apogee in 2014?

I was saying it's early because drinking early hurts with the obvious hangover with friends coming in town. It says a lot that you are too daft to realize that almost no one likes games that early. Get back to your meatloaf.

Phillip Marshall: Locking out the little guys a bad idea
UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
This is the kind of stuff that's going to make me lean towards the NFL. If college ball is going to be a more BS organization than it currently is then I'm done. I'll always take my family up to Denton for Soccer, basketball, and hopefully baseball but I won't be spending money to travel to games when I can have just as good of a time (if not better) watching my favorite NFL team. We already have professional football. The best players play on Sundays, not Saturdays. College football is bleeding out.
