Good news regarding student attendance at SMU game

We better have more fans than they do at this game. It's only right... -
SMU Fans claim wins happen year after losses to UNT historically
UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
What isn't telling about these numbers is we completely destroyed them to the point their coach was drummed off campus and we did it with a horrid team. Did their team completely rebuild in less than one year? They were left in bad shape by their coaching staff. Will it help them to be dismantled by Baylor in week 1? Doubtful. That said, if we show up with last years QB play, then this has the makings of an epic pillow fight. Start 1-0 with these guys then put them in the rear view... -

This is essentially the Crane Technique. No can defend. You kicked Johnny in the face and made Mr. Miyagi proud. Well done!

Craig James sues Fox Sports claiming religious discrimination

Didn't he kill a Hooker? If so, maybe that's why they didn't want him?- 29 replies

I'd say it's pretty bad coaching if he doesn't get a chance. Last years experiment at QB was disastrous.

Maybe thyou know they dropped th ball again?

Call me old school I guess. Go with a sharp clean look and stick with it. Alabama, Texas, Penn State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, ect. I don't like the identity crisis. SOW was a great addition on green and white. We need to get solid branding and stop changing. We are the Mean Green. Not Mean Black. And stop changing the shade of green!!!

I like green and white.

A couple of thoughts: - McNulty is a journeyman backup who knows the system. He isn't going to light it up but at least he knows the plays. - Greer looked absolutely terrified last season. You can't coach swagger and I've never seen a QB play so scared. (Well, maybe the guy on Necessary Roughness who was screaming "Blow the whistle!") I hope he's matured, gained confidence, urgency, and aggression. - Smith is new to the system but that doesn't mean a lot to me. He very well may be our guy. If all reports are accurate, including Mac himself, then he's got his head on straight, talented, but has a bit of a learning curve to deal with. He could be the man for the job. - Means is on the active roster now. He has the size. He's got a year under Mac and had a good spring according to most reports. He sounds level headed and has potential with a lot of time left to shine. The first two guys we're given chances and both failed. The second two are unknown and unproven. I say give the two guys a chance to prove themselves and see what they can do.

If we don't show up at Ford Field with decent QB play, then we will all have tickets to the Toilet Bowl in Dallas. I'll stop by Home Depot and pickup the trophy...

I don't think we really have a rival but there are several I don't personally like. I despise UTEP and their fans. (I'm lived in EP and have a lot of friends who went there.)

Hell yes!

I actually think it's a good thing for the student athletes. It's a full time job and you aren't allowed to work. If your parents don't give you cash you can't even fly home on holidays, forget fast food, or much less taking a girl on a date. Meanwhile, especially in P5 everyone else is getting rich while the kids can't afford Arby's. It's not the end of the world for these players to get spending money. It sure as hell isn't the end of college football.

What's the best way to get tickets? I think we will have a lot more fans than them and I think UNT gets a certain number of tickets for visitors.

MGB: Chad Hedlund, son of UNT coach John Hedlund, now at SMU
UNTexas replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Come on Dad, you and me both would wear our hearts on our sleeve for our babies! You and I would be a fan boys for our kids. I'd be torn but would want my kid to fight and win. Sidebar, I had some beers with a family who all went to SMU tonight at Henry's Tavern and they had nothing but praise for UNT. They were involved in the program too. They were pure class acts. -
MGB: Chad Hedlund, son of UNT coach John Hedlund, now at SMU
UNTexas replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Good news for John. He's a great coach, man, has raised successful kids. If my girls went to SMU and graduated I'd be proud too, and I cheer for my kids no matter what. We'll still beat the sh$t out of that team in September but that's beside the point. -
McNulty had his chance in 2014 and failed. Doing your time doesn't mean you deserve the job. You play who gives you the best chance to win. Unfortunately, he probably doesn't and I hope I'm wrong.

They are worthless and weak now a days. Not the coeds though. They are great.

- Homecoming gets a good crowd but no one cares about Portland State. - UTEP is Thanksgiving weekend and if we aren't in the hunt for a bowl game, forget about it. - Rice will get a descent crowd if we start with a W, however, it will likely be 187° at 1:30 on September 19th. - Western Kentucky is a Thursday night game, so, unless we are kicking serious ass going into the game then it's doubtful. - UTSA is Halloween. Forget it. Therefore, our best turn out of fans will occur at Ford Field opening night at 6 o'clock pm in Dallas or at the Heart of Dallas Bowl in Dallas.

Ranking the Mean Green's challenges in order of difficulty
UNTexas replied to 10Eagle10's topic in Mean Green Football
If we don't get a QB and a line to block for him, then the whole thing is a wash. No matter what the defense does. If they do then I'm down with Harry's list. -
If you are speaking of UNT I'd say 25 conference championships isn't too terrible compared to some. Thank you for not answering the question again. We get it. You hate UNT but hit this site daily. You came up here, may or may have failed at walking on. Got butt hurt and homesick, then ran home. Therefore, you have to damn all schools that are not the one you attend. Sorry, most of us don't measure our wee wees. I happen to think you are sadly amusing. I view you like Uncle Rico except he made great videos, had a sweet stache, and had a time machine. If any school should be wondering what the hell happened, it may be yours. They were SWC and then got relegated to where it lies today. At least other schools fought their way back into the big boys club, or stayed happy where they are, or had an excuse like the death penalty. I happen to like your school but my god you need a girlfriend or a friend in general. As always, mom, meatloaf. Now proceed in being a better troll. You are better than this nonsense you've spewed lately.

Former UTSA standout says players have embraced a ‘new era’
UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, I didn't expect any of their former or current players to say it's a new era of suckiness in San Antonio without those 37. I hope we crush them with an exclamation point this season. We owe them that much.
