Part of playing is hearing the critics. Just like you take the praise. I take it most of y'all have never been in film room with college coaches. These kids take ass chewing daily. Nothing said here is going to break their hearts. When you play like crap, you know it. If the players don't like the complaints, then they need to do something about it. Accountability, or lack thereof, is exactly why this program is in the dumpster year in and year out. If they want respect. Win. If they don't want to be embarrassed. Win. If the AD and Head coach want donors. Win. They need to knock off the twitter nonsense too. I'm really sorry these kids grew up in the generation where everyone gets a trophy but in the real world people don't praise failure. Im not attacking the character of anyone in the athletic department or players. They are good folks. However, this consistent losing and lack of accountability is enough. Every fan and alumni deserves better.

MGB: Carlos Harris comes to defense of McNulty
UNTexas replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Of course he'll defend his teammate. Not a shocker. He should. However, every player on that team knows they have serious problems at QB. Especially Harris, he has to try and catch the trash throws. He wouldn't be talking about any of this if we had even an average QB. Working hard doesn't mean he's got talent to play the game. -
I think people are just venting. Everyone is sick of the product this team puts out. UNT's athletic staff begged for years to get fan support and facilities. They have gotten everything they asked for and they keep losing. It's pathetic and people need to lose their jobs. Starting with the AD on down. Mac seemed like a good choice before but the game appears to have passed him by. He sticks to his guns even when he's wrong. I don't know if it's hubris or playing favorites but one thing is certain, he seriously lacks judgment in recruiting a specific key position.

This isn't a Division 1 offense. The D is good and so is Special Teams. It's time to fire people. I'm ashamed of how pathetic the offense is. This is the worst QB situation in college football and the head coach is a poor leader if he doesn't give D Smith a chance.

What about fanny packs? They are stylish.

UNT Sold Out of Student Tickets for SMU Game!
UNTexas replied to James's topic in Mean Green Ticket Exchange
We won't have more than 3,000 because Cougar King said so. -
This is true. Criminals must stop this behavior. Considering UNT is so meaningless, why exactly are you here running your mouth about it?

I don't know about their Superbowl but they apparently hate us. It really capped their asses when we beat them so bad their coach fled.

The only way to lift moral outside of raising the flag somewhere in victory or planting it on the moon is obviously girls in flag bikinis. Merica!

Texas A&M Paying UNT $1.25 Million for 2020 Game
UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I'd say there is a very big difference between the teams back then and now. We actually beat a couple P5 teams then. Now, we get 15 yards passing on offense. -

Hopefully field goals are all they get close enough for. Or a ridiculous last second bomb.

No, for a few reasons. 1. The 6 garbage points we gave up at the end are on that picture. 2. I was there when Simon made the Safeway quote and it's anti climactic for me because he said it to make himself look cool.

Does Dunham hate SMU? It was a bit unclear.

I hope their team is confident too.

Texas A&M Paying UNT $1.25 Million for 2020 Game
UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Come on, that shows great improvement! It's sad when you look at the schedules back then to now. They were tough but we actually beat a few P5 teams. Texas Tech and Oregon State being my favorites. -
That was what I mentioned earlier. It makes it more harsh for several reasons. It was retaliation because of the man's position and it was obviously a conspiracy once they committed the first overt act of planning to hit him, then actually doing it. I've seen charges indicted several ways. One thought is to piled it on and plea it down. The second, charge then do superseding indictments if necessary. Its the tomato or tomato way of looking at it. You generally end up in the same place. If that coach told them to retaliate on a bad call then he should be in big trouble too. At a minimum he should be fired.

Totally agree with what you're saying except the following is easy to prove. A “deadly weapon” is defined as a firearm or anything that is capable of causing death or serious bodily injury. Pretty easy to prove. A pen, pencil, bat, rock, pool cue, rope, and even a football helmet speared to the spine easily meet the definition. If kids were intelligent or had anyone worth their salt advising them they'd apologize for their moment of weakness or stupidly and apologize. Personally apologize to the victim, his loved ones, their families, school and community for their behavior. I bet the ref is going to get bank from the district and destroy these kids families with a law suit. This whole thing is stupid and the kids are making it worse by trying to justify why they did it.

http://espn.go.com/moresports/story/_/id/13609876/john-jay-high-school-players-allege-referee-field-incident-used-racial-slurs This is what the lady mentioned above is refering to. (The ignorance of this racist women isn't worth talking about y'all...) People these days think they can do whatever they want, get in trouble, and immediately scream racism to think it covers their actions. Throw these kids out of school and file the assault charges. If they lack any accountability then I hope their punishment is severe.
-
Bodily injury does not need to occur to be charged with Assault. If I were in charge of their case, I'd argue they entered into a conspiracy to assault an individual in retaliation of him acting in performance of his job. They did so with premeditation to cause bodily harm. Additionally, I'd argue they used their helmets and equipment as weapons versus a helpless individual. All of this adds aggravated circumstance to their assault. It's not exactly tough to argue either. Then let them beg for a plea agreement. That's just me though. This nonsense has to stop.
-
I love it. Those kids could have been at UNT but this shot was perfect timing. Hilarious. That is pretty funny. It's his signature move.

I have to respectfully disagree. Assaults on referees in every sport have grown increasingly violent and some have lead to deaths. If people don't understand there will be consequences for their actions then they will continue to behave like savages. While there is national attention they should be made examples of in front of the entire country. Let everyone know Texas won't allow this behavior and do it with severity.
