Playing Devils advocate here, maybe SMU was better than they are given credit for? Rice stood toe to toe with a bad Texas and lost by a couple TDs. SMU stood tough for a while against a team in contention for a National Championship. We'll see what this team is made of Saturday.

Didn't RV say the reason we didn't get the 6 promised home games didn't happen because Northern Arizona backed out? I listened to his interview and I seem to recall Northern Arizona being part of his excuses. It doesn't really matter. Actions are louder than words and his words are pretty meaningless when schedules are concerned.

That's pretty much how RV explained it and the way my friends and I took it. I'd never put stupidity in scheduling out of the realm of possibilty with this man. Either way I've lost all confidence in his ability to lead that department. He's small minded and behind the times. The FCS then bodybag nonsense is completely lame.

Actually it almost happened this year. RV said himself he tried to schedule Northern Arizona but he couldn't seal the deal. That would have been 2 FCS teams this season. There is a reason we had no game opening weekend. RV was too inept to secure a second FCS team. Which exactly why he needs to be fired. He's small minded and stuck in his ways. Kind of like our coaches when it comes to QBs. RV has done great with our infrastructure and non revenue sports. It's time to bring in someone to finish the job.

Meanwhile, RV loves him some Portland State, some Lamar, let us not forget Abilene Christian, Liberty, and Incarnate Word. I was embarrassed for him when he said he couldn't land Northern Arizona. My goodness that was awful. He tried to land Northern Arizona but couldn't seal the deal. Are you kidding me? I think he needs to pay attention to good ADs, like UH obviously has, and stop scheduling this nonsense. We left 1aa for a reason. If he can't schedule better than the aforementioned antidotes to butts in seats then he should be thanked for his many contributions to our university and immediately fired. If he can't adapt then he needs to go, and go fast.

He'll say athletics are great and looking towards the future. However, football and basketball are in a state of complete garbage which won't be mentioned.

If we don't score on defense and special teams it's going to be way way worse than 8.5.

I'd add we are good on Special Teams as well. So, we aren't bad in 2/3 of the game. Both will break due to zero offensive production.

Maybe the reason RV wants so few home games is because he wants less disappointment at home?

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the position coaches meeting to hear the rationale of why McNulty is supposedlying the guy. We've also lost multiple QBs who were suppose to be our guy. I would like to hear their take of what is wrong with this team. Because something is going on here that no one is talking about publicly.

I've already seen enough of both teams to understand what Saturday will look like.

They have QB problems again like us. He was their best offensive player. Hopefully we have fixed some issues before we see them in November.

I'd give him a pass if he were a freshman or sophmore. Not a senior. Speaking from experience, each year you mature as a player and seniors should be good to go day one. Play and act like you've been there. My second thought is the coaches were forced to run plays based on his limited abilities so they knew what the drill was going into it. Week two will see the same tragic play calls based off his inability to perform the duties of a legitimate FBS quarterback. Some guys just never develop the way everyone wants. It's just the way it is.

So give him a second chance? You're clearly omitting the entire 2014 season and the countless opportunities he's wasted. He's also a not a new guy so I'd say his second chances are done.

They have a 24 hour rule? So, after 24 hours they move on, forget the last game, then make the same garbage decision again, and again, and again... Giving Smith or Means a chance isn't a risk. It's wise. It's insane to think they'll get a different outcome with the current 1 and 2. UNT football is like a spouse that keeps beating you and we keep taking them back. So irritating.

I'm always going to cheer for this team but I don't think our head coach really cares anymore. You can't play that kid at QB and have an expectation of victory. Personal relationships don't matter either. You have to play the players who will win. I thought he was a great coach up until he complained about how hard recruiting is here. Really? Tell that to a coach in El Paso or some other hard sell of a town. It was also disrespectfull to every player on that roster and their parents. Totally classless. It's also totally unprofessional to not give D Smith a shot when everyone knows we will lose in our current situation.

You can't expect the o-line to run block really well when they know it's always a run or incomplete pass.

I had a great time and everyone was really friendly. Except the SMU law who tried to start a fight with everyone and dropped the N bomb like 20 times in front of kids. He was promptly arrested and was very drunk. Really cool fans other than one moron. We have morons too.I had a great time and we'll hopefully win at home next year.

I'm well aware of the ramifications of crowd noise on the offense and I could care less. I've been to UNT games where you could hear crickets in the stadium because no one went to the games. If UNT fans, who obviously aren't going to have a lot to cheer for this season, want to scream all day then I say let them. As a player you'd rather have cheering fans than dull fans.

More importantly, I'm happy fans are going to games. So, if they want to cheer a day long, let them.
