All is calm. Did RV screw it up? That would be the icing on the cake for 2015. Uhg...
-
I hate to say it but I'm just happy the season is over.
-
So, RV has a process for running football/basketball into the dirt. I wish he could tell us what that is, maybe on his I love me banner...

The leadership in the AD is a punchline.

Looks like TCU has their own version of Eric Capper

Very cute girl. She'll beat this. -
"We love Rick Villarreal" banner coming soon
UNTexas replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
They must have collected $200 per person from the 10 people at the UTEP game. -
No matter who's coaching I'd like them to stop the jackassery on the sideline and bring a little class. It was so embarrassing watching that behavior and the coaches did nothing to stop it.
-
No one is asking for that. RV had the athletic department start issuing nonsense about the decision coming down and then balked. This hiring is not being run professionally by RV. RV is terrible at almost every aspect of his job and the Athletic Department has suffered 15 years of his failures. What FBS university would put up with this AD? No one. Ever. Welcome to North Texas.
-
Who knows. I'm just tired of the leadership void at UNT who's turning this into a predictable circus.
-
So RV screwed up the Meacham hire. Got it and standard operating for him.

MGB: Villarreal, school officials say no decision made

I'm shocked we don't have anyone in a leadership position at the athletic department who provided transparency, without names of course. Recruiting season is in full swing so I guess RV doesn't feel the need to calm the nerves of players who committed here. Great job Rick!

People are harping on the feet because everyone says he launched himself. Sorry, it was a perfect form block. Players practice this their entire careers. He didn't do the flying squirrel into him and the player was absolutely not defenseless. The defender was unaware of his surroundings and got blocked in a huge way. Harris reacted the way he did and that's on him. He did a perfect job on the field. I guarantee you if there were in films next week the coaches applaud him in the film room. It's very solid football. Arm Chair QB all you want on the Internet but he was well in the right and I don't know a single guy who played at this level that would disagree except maybe the guy who took the hit. I speak from this as a player who took a much more gruesome hit to my earhole. I got a concussion, wind knocked out of me, and a busted knee. #22 from NMSU destroyed me. I'll never forget and it was my fault. Bill Michaels even said jokingly in the film room you can't run down the feild acting like the big dog. I never did again. I payed attention from that day forward. It was a lesson and it's just the game. Additionally, his reaction sucked but there were more emotions going through his head after he was ejected than most people can possibly image. He reacted horribly but he shouldn't have ended a great college career doing his job well.

Did we watch the same hit? Shoulder to chest and one foot on the ground. The UTEP player happened to be looking away. I played this game. You take that shot every chance you get. I've been on the receiving end too. Way worse than that hit and I deserved it for lack of situational awareness. Sorry everyone's hatred of one of our own players makes them blind to a damn near perfect block. Total bs.

Completely legal hit. It was a savagely hard hit and completely legal. The refs got this one wrong and it may have cost the game. Well, Chico's rendition of pee wee rec football and making sure everyone got a turn cost us the game first but this hurt bad.

And which one of these guys presently knows all the regional high school coaches and is affiliated with a Top 10 team that has been competive in a National Championship hunt? When I was on recruiting trips certain things mattered to me. My high school coaches opinion never mattered a bit. It does for some kids I guess. I'd be much more impressed by a guy who was at TCU because they went from CUSA to what they are today and the man at my kitchen table was part of it. If the candidates are equal I just think we have to go with the local guy. But who ever really knows, they could both be bad or great.

Texas high school kids where in elementary school the last time one of the two choices was last here. Memories are short too. One of these guys is relevant today in a big way in our region and kids can relate to his current success.

Our biggest asset moving into next season from this year is a new coaching staff. The everyone gets a turn game plan yesterday was one of the biggest disappointments I've seen in a very long time. Hopefully every single coach is dismissed and we get a fresh start. We will be better next year because we can't get worse. This team has been turned around before in a year. Matt Simon did it and won a conference championship. Some players are going to have to go and the rest need to decide to be winners. There is obviously problems in the locker room and the culture here has to be changed by the new coach.

I thought the team fought to win. I thought Chico was a class act in his words. However, I think the ridiculous decision to let everyone play cost us a win. A win today would have helped recruiting to a certain degree when recruiting certain players and Chico was irresponsible in his coaching decisions. If he truly loved this team he would have done everything possible to win another game and send these seniors out with a W. But he chose to play players that ensured a loss in the end. For that, it solidified why he wasn't the right guy for the job. I really don't know why he decided to give us a lesser chance of winning by not playing the best guys he could. What a wasted day...

Canales had zero intention of winning that game when he decided everyone gets a turn. Completely pitiful.
-
It was a legal hit and if you are going out forever it's a good way to go. Horrendous call that changed the game. Screw UTEP.
-
Chico doesn't give a shit. This is ridiculous. We recruit against UTEP. Total horseshit.

So y'all wouldn't wear gear from another school for a girl? I've done 100 times worse...

I'm a Letterman and would lose my sh$t over this. Horrible choice.

How do you prepare to be “underwhelmed”
UNTexas replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Question: "How do you prepare to be "underwhelmed"? Answer: I just keep on living because I am a lifelong North Texas fan and Cowboys fan through thick and thin. So, you just live and get your hope annually.
