  1. I wouldn't count Yale out. I'd be steering my kid towards an Ivy League education, not just sports. Maybe Im just older, because at 18 I would have chosen football playing time and fun.
  2. I didn't know you lost an entire year after sitting it out. Awful.
  3. This would be a good pick up but if he redshirted and only played 2 seasons, then why would he only have 1 year left to play after sitting out a year? What happened to 4 years of playing time?
  4. Even worse, he's a Marine... http://m.nydailynews.com/news/national/suspect-arrested-sara-mutschlechner-shooting-death-article-1.2485896
  5. Looks like they caught the coward running away. http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Man-Arrested-Connected-to-Fatal-Shooting-of-UNT-Student-364240761.html
  6. As far as I'm concerned Mac quit on North Texas. The players aren't dumb, they noticed it, and they quit on him. I wish him the best and hope Boston College doesn't try and hire him for his OC skills.
  7. TCU has better walk ons at QB than our scholarship players. Not much debating it either. Always tough being a Mean Green fan...
  8. Hahahaha +1
  9. I don't hate Houston. I like most Texas schools. Houston is G5 and I don't see a damn thing wrong with G5 schools either. This whole G5 P5 nonsense is ESPN bullshit. Houston may go to a P5 conference some day but the politics are outrageous these days so I wouldn't count my chickens yet.
  10. Considering the doldrums we've been in the last couple of years at the QB position, I'll be excited about a Nick Saban product over Mac's failures at the same position. This transfer has potential and cannot possibly be worse than what we have.
  11. Anyone know where I can buy UNT Cycling Jerseys or any UNT cycling gear? I've been looking for years.
  12. It's RV's job to get the butts in seats through promotions, advertising, and scheduling. It's Littrell's job to do it by winning. So, I'm surprised RV didn't include attendance in Littrell's contract. RV needs a patsy because he still "has things left to do here."
  13. Smart head coach...
  14. Good read about Graham Harrell at the Sun Bowl and I really like this hire for us. http://www.elpasotimes.com/story/sports/sun-bowl/2015/12/24/washington-state-coach-texas-football-hero/77848044/
  15. Simon took over for Parker in 94 and there were a lot of guys on the team who only went through the motions but the team had a lot of damn good players. He aimed to change the slacker mentality of some and he did it through a surreal Fall camp. Simon is a history buff. Long before 300 came out and made Sparta cool he mailed us letters at home with our report itineraries and told us it would be called Camp Sparta. He gave a brief history of what Sparta was and only the strong would survive Sparta or his camp. It's exactly what happened in the Fall of 94. By today's standards, that camp would be illegal as hell. We had a 5 am wake up, which felt like 2 hours of sleep at the time after night activities, followed by early films, followed by a marathon first practice that ended in conditioning where vomiting was standard, scholarship player quit on the spot, and people passed out regularly. Oh, and injuries, even to the head, were just in your mind... Weights were obviously between practices. Another kick in the ass. The second practice was usually worse than the first because the days heat got worse. (I still remember seeing fraternity/sorority rush and wondering what the hell i was doing.) I had problems just walking because of the blisters on my feet but still ran non-stop. I also had a hard time with brown urine beause of dehydration. I drank a ton of water too. The trainers only helped the really hard cases. The mildly banged up were considered pussies. (Sorry for the non PC term but it's the words used) I lost 22 pounds during that camp and I'very never been fat. The dorm at West Hall was a whole story in and of itself. We called the nights "The Midnight Train" because so many guys quit in the middle of the night. We could here them leaving through the halls. Simon put a bag by the door for the quitters the put their keys. Some guys just couldn't quit in front of their friends. Like I said, I was too young and dumb to realize that it wasn't a normal experience. I was 18 and wanted to play football and didn't want to fail myself, my team, the older players, my coaches, especially Bill Michaels, and my dad. I have no way to explain how hard it was because I'm not a poet. It was outlandish. However, he was right, the guys who stayed were believers and we were winners together. It was a team through thick and thin. I carry a gun for the US government every day and can promise you that was the toughest thing I've ever been through. Maybe it just prepared me for life. Who knows. I will say, I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I like historical references, so, I hope the new coach burns the boats...
  16. - A last second field goal at Stephen F Austin to tie which basically won the 1994 Southland Conference Championship even though we had one more game. My dad blew off cancer and made it to the game but unfortunately it was the last time he would see me play. - Beating Tech in Lubbock with a bunch of my family at the game & my friends who went to Tech who avoided me like the plague at Christmas after a 33 point dog embarrassed them in Lubbock. I still have a nice scar on my left arm to remind me of that fun win. Plus, knocking on the door of my friends house to see if he had beer after getting back to Denton really late. Turns out there was a party and the whole party went crazy when I showed up because we won. - The agony of Matt Simon's 94 camp where he ran off all the people who weren't committed. I was too young and dumb to realize it wasn't a normal camp. - Beating Oregon State at Fouts. - Getting completely murdered by #22 from NMSU along our own sideline in front of the entire team at Fouts. - The shame and comedy of the towel incident. I still cringe and laugh. - 2013 I saw the greatest Defensive stand I've seen at any level. - Basically the entire Dickey years because I thought we had turned that corner. Boy was I wrong... - Watching girls Soccer practice from football practice. Never would have guessed at the time that my wife was on those fields. - The blind hope I get every Summer for the Fall in Denton... - Oh yeah, the day I signed my Football scholarship to North Texas.
  17. Hell yes!!!
  18. I wrote I hate bodybag games but they aren't stopping because of money/RV and they are better for recruiting than garbage teams. I also wrote we use to get P5 teams to Denton. Thanks for rewriting what I wrote though. The moral of the story is Bethune-Cookman is crap scheduling and we use to get better scheduling. If we are faced with Liberty or Texas Tech it's pretty damn obvious who we should schedule, like we use to, because we use to compete with P5 schools from time to time.
  19. When we went back to D1 we got D1 teams to come here. We could play Idaho or New Mexico State and appease the fans. People would come. Bethune-Cookman, enjoy the empty stadium. What fans like you don't get, is those bodybag games, that I hate too, generate a lot of money and recruits love the idea of playing against P5 teams. Kids dream of playing there, not Bethune-Cookman or Liberty. There are D1 teams we can bring in that kids won't roll their eyes at when we bring them to visit in recruiting. Especially, if we are going to lose by 70 or some nonsense and have to listen to RV talk about scheduling two of them in one year while not being able to pull it off. What a joke. We should pay attention to schools that are having G5 success, like Houston, who isn't scheduling FCS schools. This recipe you endorse has failed us for the last 20 seasons. Maybe its time to try something new.
  20. I have no clue what our record will be. I also have no clue why we are playing Bethune-Cookman or a clue who they are. No one shows up to watch these teams. SMU, Army & Florida are awesome games and good for recruiting. We left D1aa a long time ago. Let's put on our big boy, or girl, pants and play at our level every week.
  21. I love Star Wars and the prequels were garbage.
  22. I just watched one of the best movies in a few decades and excuse me while I start a street riot. (When you watch you'll get why I'd go crazy.) I'd climb under a rock if you wait to watch it and don't want someone to ruin it for you. Great movie.
