  1. Come on man, we have done better than that with a lot at stake. (Not saying 1974 was bad either.) 1993 (Parker's last year) 4-7 1994 (Simon's first year) 7-4-1 Southland Conference Championship, a trip to the D1aa playoffs, Mitch Maher became UNT's All-Time Passer (which still stands), and most importantly UNT earned the right the be D1 again.
  2. Kelley green was used until 93 then Simon demanded it be switched for 94. He also started trying to use Navy blue whenever he could. None of the players were happy either. He didn't care though. We always had terrible branding back then. It's getting better though.
  3. I think everyone is sick of the shades of green. One year it's dark green, the next year it's almost lime green, then it's Kelly green. No one cares about different uniforms but it's pretty stupid when our fans can't figure out what green our school is because of one moron at the athletic department. And it's usually one moron. We switched to forest green from Kelly Green one year simply because the head coach liked dark green. Most schools would lynch a coach for that. Baylor and Oregon change configuration of the same colors. UNT can't even get the shade of green correct at the union bookstore.
  4. Glad to see RV is gone. Maybe this area will improve.
  5. Good yet bad thing we are the one in the bodybag after those games. It just means we would play more MWC, Sunbelt, or MAC teams.
  6. I wish they didn't count wins over FCS opponents for bowl eligibility. (Our schedule would transform pretty quickly.)
  7. I think you don't get what I meant. Above High School is silliness because it shouldn't even be in the same conversation. Not even close to being in the same conversation...
  8. Well, if you are talking Frisco High School standards, who are about to use the Cowboys stuff, or McKinney, or Allen, then yes. But we really do need an indoor facility that all sports would use. But seriously, above high school is silliness!!!
  9. We've had an AD who peaked a long time ago and a fairly new President... So, moving forward we'll see.
  10. It was brutal. We drank too much the night before, got up too early, and almost melted at that game.
  11. I wish everything gave me the warm and fuzzies but UNT Athletics is still like an abusive spouse. UNT promised never to beat me and I always take UNT back...
  12. For entry level athletic department hires, please look at our ownalumni first for these jobs.
  13. I was actually shocked how few fans they brought to Denton last time. The people I spoke to were really nice folks and disappointed in their turnout. As a UNT fan I can completely sympathize with them on that feeling. Although we brought a lot of people to Dallas last year.
  14. RV = Herpes. Both gifts that keep on giving and both disgusting.
  15. These guys wouldn't because they are old school awesome! Oh how I love football trends... The weight lifters are the best.
  16. Sorry you don't recognize a post in jest.
  17. I think this is the 2016 version of cheesy. Just like I thought these were cheesy back then. It's just on a mass scale now because social media. It's not a UNT thing either. Just 2016 cheese.
  18. I've spent the last couple of years hitting as many of Texas Monthly 50 Best BBQ Restaurants in the World with some friends. I'm up to 32. Dickey's shouldn't be mentioned when discussing proper bbq. It's like saying McDonald's is the best burger in town. The best thing Dickey's has going for it is good soft serve ice cream. Same with McDonald's... I will give you our discoveries from our travels. Most consistent brisket: Hutchins in McKinney, however, when Lockhart in Dallas is on all cylinders its life changing. Same with Kreuz's in Lockhart but they don't provide bbq. (Might not need it but I like the option) Best sausage: Blacks in Lockhart. Best beef ribs: Pecan Lodge Dallas but the price is outrageous. Best pork ribs: Salt Lick in Driftwood or Smitty's in Lockhart. (I'll mention Hard 8 in Roanoke makes ribs I do crave since there are some Hard 8 naysayers. Avoid Coppell because they are more mass production compared to the original in Stephenville or Roanoke.) Best sauce: Depends on my mood but Coopers in Llano, Salt Lick, and Pecan Lodge are all solid. Coolest ambience: Salt Lick. (Cool place that reminds me of a Cattleman's Steakhouse in Fabens near El Paso but not in the desert.) Biggest disappointments: Pody's in Pecos, Bartley's in Grapevine, Brook's Place in Cypress. Next expedition: Snow's in Lexington but they are only open Saturdays so we need to go early before they run out. We'll hit 50!!! (And yes we had to tone it down at first because we all gained weight but lost it.)
  19. I'll celebrate when football is back and again when we have a winning season. Hopefully this fall...
  20. Of course they want to bolt. CUSA isn't the same conference it was a couple years ago.
  21. Helwig was at UT in the 80s then was in charge of the Sun Bowl before he came to North Texas in 94. I can't remember who the AD was in 93 when Parker was the head coach.
  22. I 100 percent agree. San Antonio is a far better destination to go watch games. After attending our last game at UTEP I can assure you I'll never attend another game at the Sun Bowl. UTSA fans are at least cool. Not to mention UTSA appears to be building a decent program.
  23. Are you talking about Craig Helwig?
  24. So, essentially ODU's new stadium isn't competitive with CUSA stadiums nor Collin County Texas High Schools.
