I want us in the NFC East because the last few years it was wide open until the end.

MGB: What impact will losing JC signees make?
UNTexas replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
The thing Vito isn't reporting is this stuff happens every year, to every team. Maybe it feels worse because Mac left this team in shambles but in the end you take the field with what you have and fight like hell. Stranger things have happened to our football team. Hell, this stuff happens to NFL teams. The best season I ever had as a player, we were worse off as far as roster goes and ended up having a great season. You never no how the chips may fall. Hopefully, the ones who stayed through these hard times will show their character and play with a chip on their shoulders and give a big FU to the media, fans, and most importantly their opponents who think they should suck. -
Lol. Good post. RV scheduling is like herpes, it won't go away. After last season, a new coaching staff, and a depleted roster 10.5 is fair.

Why North Texas Beats SMU on Sept. 3rd
UNTexas replied to Side Show Joe's topic in Mean Green Football
It will be the Toilet Bowl. I hope we win. -
The articles says it consolidates the TV market. Really, where exactly is TCU? Is it not in the same TV market here in the DFW area? And TCU actually wins. SMU is as pathetic at football as us. And that's saying something. Additionally, their basketball just fell apart and they've proven they can't help themselves when it comes to NCAA infractions.

As long as we're calling out employees of the old AD regime
UNTexas replied to oldguystudent's topic in Mean Green Football
Anyone have his new email address? -
Man that schedule brings back memories. I use to go into mild depression starting two a days. Anybody know if there will be any open practices before SMU?

La Tech mentioned as Top Candidate for AAC
UNTexas replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
No conference wants a team at the FBS level that gets stomped 66-7 by an FCS team. It's just honesty. Our athletics are pathetic these days. Our sports need to improve and then maybe we can worry about conferences. Right now we bring nothing to the table other location. -
What Should Be The New ADs First Order Of Business

What Should Be The New ADs First Order Of Business
UNTexas replied to Eagle-96's topic in Mean Green Football
1. Give our Soccer coach a raise to show winners are rewarded. 2. Fire the basketball coach to show losing won't be tolerated. 3. Have an all hands with the department staff and let them know each position will be evaluated extensively. 4. Meet will every team individually and give them goals and expectations. Then add as many steps to complately change the culture.- 141 replies

SMU Athletics Reveals Future Facilities Projects
UNTexas replied to NTAlum09's topic in Mean Green Football
I'd like to see UNT build a multi use indoor practice facility in the future. Especially for off season use. I would imagine Frisco ISD will get first rights to using that facility for all their high schools because they paid a lot of money for it and they all excited to use it. Using the stadium has nothing to do with UNT student internships either. Besides all that, I'd rather see our team acclimate to the outrageous temperatures outside right now. -
FBS Schools Losing to FCS Opponents by 59 points in 2015 North Texas At least bring in an FCS team you can compete with. In all seriousness, the problem is RV didn't bring anyone to Denton like he promised. Show me a list of teams that consistently can't bring anyone to their home field with 5 home games, like us, and I'll be impressed. Even Helwig with Fouts found ways to get A&M and Kansas to come play us in the Metroplex or Oregan State to come to Fouts. I could go on but the bottom line is the scheduling has been bad to put it mildly.
-
What did they say? Additionally, does anyone know what the new AD would need to do to get us out of ridiculous schedules RV came up with? SMU, and Army are great but there are some really ridiculous FCS opponents that we shouldn't have scheduled.
-
Reinforces RV's lack of ability in his job. He was good at infrastructure and mostly terrible at everything else. Sad. Complete lack of vision. Whoever the new AD is will surely be an upgrade.

If MWC loses a team, UNT could be in play...
UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I've been around UTEP for a lot of my life. UTEP has a lot of issues. They were once a great basketball school but those days are in the the rear view. It's a really hard sell to recruits in any sport, teams don't like to go there, it has almost zero up side in recruiting, and the school is an academic joke. There are good folks in EP but people from there, like me, know the issues it has. So do people in athletics. UNT is in a great location, great media marketing area, great recruiting area, and people like coming to the metroplex. Our school is a disaster of late but we are a big good school in a good area. UTEP fans that are family and friends of mine say the same.- 86 replies

If MWC loses a team, UNT could be in play...
UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree AAC thing wouldn't happen because of SMU and the television coverage. Moving to the MWC conference would show an actual commitment to athletics. It wouldn't hurt the conference either because it would expand its exposure into one of the largest metropolitan areas in the country with serious talent to visit when they play here. I'm really ready for this ship to get back on course. I'm not getting younger...- 86 replies

If MWC loses a team, UNT could be in play...
UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
When we were in the Big West in the 90s we traveled out that way all the time. MWC has much better programs than those days too. As a player everyone was just upset when we couldn't buy beer when the busses got back to Denton because it was later. (Yes, college players drink beer after games sometimes.) As a fan, I like the distance of several CUSA opponents but the MWC would be better for the University. There's a reason TCU jumped ship on CUSA for MWC. I don't know if it matters in the long run. I'd like to see us in the AAC or MWC because CUSA is essentially the Sunbelt.- 86 replies

UNTexas replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
There was a time not all that long ago when I would have preferred CUSA but CUSA is a different league now. MWC is a better conference now. Perception anyway...- 86 replies

I don't care about strength of schedule projections. You play the teams on the schedule and if you're good then you win. At the end of the day, who cares? Football is upon us...

Cincy, Brigham Young, Houston and UConn to Big 12 for 2017
UNTexas replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
This is a well informed hypothesis. -
Spell check and autocorrect suck.

I know the 94 team did. In addition to already having limited scholarships as a D1aa. We had a QB in Mitch Maher and receivers like Troy Redwing. Plus, a lot of guys who wanted to seriously play football. I'm not sure what this team has or is made of. We'll see in 2 months...
