Our band plays bad choices and seems unorganized and laxed. I equate their inability to wear their uniforms the same as if the football team wore their practice uniforms because the are more comfortable. Same could be said for the dance team or cheerleaders if they rolled out in sports bras and shorts for comfort. Hey Baby and Fly Like an Eagle should be retired immediately too. Anyway, I'm going to be freaked out at games if that scary high school girl from that viral video from Denton joins our band some day. She steals souls.

Look on the bright side, UTEP plays Texas, UTSA plays Colorado State, and Rice plays Army. Obviously, all the aforementioned teams are likely to lose and are CUSA Texas teams. We play Bethune-Cookman and damn sure better win!
-
They went with UTEP over us back then because we were envious of junior high facilities at the time. They also had a distant memory of good basketball under Haskins. Those days are long gone on both accounts. I know people who work for UTEP and they have said they know they are a tough sell with all these shake ups these days. It's a small, secluded, undesirable (for most people, not all), area, that's not at all a hotbed for recruiting. They believe things won't shake out well for them but hope for the best. They don't like us nor UTSA for many of the reasons previously stated in this thread. I do think we will leave them in the rear view athletically in the long run. Same with UTSA. I really do see massive differences surrounding our support concerning sports these days. In a good way too...
-
Much like us, the conference they joined changed massively as soon as they joined. They might not view it as a lateral.
-
Possibly. However, the MWC could just as well call SMU in which case the AAC could be an option. The AAC isn't what they signed up for. I could see them leave it.
-
Rice & UTSA could easily get picked up in a realignment to the MWC or AAC. Location location location. We could have a shot for the same reasons.
-
ESPN gives us a 78% chance at victory. So, I am hopeful. However, I'm not picking a score because if our QB and Defensive (specifically the deep ball) play is the same as last week then our season might be destroyed Saturday night. If those two areas are fixed then we win. (Losing to this team is unthinkable for me.)
-
I hate to break it to everyone but we bring nothing to the table as far as conference changes. Seriously? Embarrassing sports isn't a great selling point. We are a big school, in DFW, with renowned bad sports. Girls Soccer isn't going to get us to a better place. Giveme negative ratings all day. We need to win...

Lack of explosiveness will make for a long year for UNT
UNTexas replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
After what I saw yesterday, it's going to be a long year full of disappointments. If we lose to Bethune-Cookman this week it will go far beyond disappointment. -
SMU womens golf coach (Jeanne Sutherland) talking smack
UNTexas replied to shootermcgavin44's topic in Mean Green Football
She wasn't wrong. Total amateur operation on the part of UNT. They were use to not having to work. The athletic department failed miserably because I know people who came and left because it was tough on children. Not to mention the horrid play by our team. If you were in line in the second quarter, why would you pay to come in? Typical UNT nonsense. People desperately want to support this team but we fail at every level as usual.- 42 replies

MGB: Five thoughts following UNT's loss to SMU
UNTexas replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
We were bad on special teams, offense, and defense. That's what happened. -
The people selling tickets are doing their job as bad as our team is playing. The athletic department failed massively on selling tickets.
-
Solid choice going with the Texas flag. If I see you, I'll get you a cold one.
-
Sorry. I'm from El Paso and all things UTEP are gross and garbage. Awful school with a trashy fanbase.
-
After what I saw last season, nothing would shock me. I love our school but I have really low moral these days.
-
42-17 SMU Sorry, after last season I can't drink the Cool Aid.
-
Wow. Do you also hate children, puppies, and old people too? What the hell was so bad about that game other than we lost? Their fans were nice, there was a good turn out for both sides, President Bush tossed the coin, weather was great, football was back, and the beer flowed like wine. I had a great time with a bunch of my friends watching my team play.

Good post. I do think you guys are in the same boat with us these days as far as being ouutside the P5 world. Both our programs aren't doing really well these days in football. Arguing who's more prominent is a bit much. Both programs have destroyed themselves from the inside out. UNT through straight up neglect by the university and SMU debacle back in the 80s that it has never recovered from. I think its a good thing that our schools our playing each other. I really enjoyed the game at SMU last year.

A guy can't sell his blood cause he's got hepatitis, but he can't afford hepatitis medicine unless he sells his blood. Kind of the same thing...

I agree. We should hate them. Those kids are spoiled rotten. Trust me. I knew several from my gated neighborhood growing up. Our security guard tormented all of us kids. I hung out with the Socs before I got a football scholarship at UNT and ended up a Greaser like all of you. We should fight them in a park. Stay golden Pony boy. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, your post is correct. We have been far to busy losing to worry about one particular opponent.
-
I'd have to say SMU certainly doesn't like us and I know most of our fans don't like them. Especially the little prick who sat in our section last year and was escorted to Dallas County for the evening. You aren't going to deveop rivals of any kind with an ever changing schedule like our ADs have always done. You have to play to have a rival. Look at A&M, no rival. UT plays OU no matter what. A&M looks sad with Texas in their fight song and doesn't acknowledge them. Essentially like Doc Holiday and Johnny Tyler in Tombstone. "I forgot you were there. You may go..." UTEP is trash. (And I too say that as a person from El Paso.) I agree with most about UTSA but they certainly get under a lot of people's skin around here. All in all I hope we play a consistant set of schools. (Like Army & SMU series plus conference games.) We'll find several schools to hate. I say UNT just plays to win as many as poosible and we fans should cheer and drink beer.

Rice enters Big 12 list of suitors
UNTexas replied to Coach Bill Lewis's topic in Mean Green Football
That's about right. At this point, the AD is in no position to consider a better conference. UNT needs to concentrate on 2016 athletics and start winning. Fix our athletic department and worry about outside improvement once the inside athletic issues are fixed. -
Totally not football related but several of us have discussed UNT cycling gear on here for years. It's finally here! https://m.facebook.com/untcycling/?fref=ts https://www.podiumwear.com/team-storefront/unt-cycling-kit/ Password is "unt2016" for UNT gear. I'm really happy!
