I'm from EP too. The city has changed a lot. UTEP isn't trying to get regional students either. They no longer allow kids from Cruces to get in state. (Unless they changed back to it.) I know a lot of folks there really angry about what UTEP has become. It makes recruiting kids impossibly hard. UNT, New Mexico, Texas State, UTSA, to name a fee blow them out of the water on a recruiting trip. That's just one area too.

They needed to hire David Copperfield or Lance Burton.

DRC: Five things UNT fans should know about Rice
UNTexas replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
We need to beat them. We have a chance to be 11-3. I know things are lokming up for us when no one here is talking about their nonfunny pathetic band. Finally, just football. We need this W. -
I'm comparing a football team to a football team. We have our first conference championship game in who knows he long. Playing to lose a game is a bad idea at any level.
-
I'm really happy how the season is going. I'd be sooooo happy and excited if we won this conference too. That said, I think this team has earned a better bowl than the NM bowl. I keep hearing NT being tossed around for that bowl. Armed Services, Independence, HOD, Frisco, New Orleans, would all be better for the team, university, fans, students, and recruiting.
-
This approach is a bad idea. (Ask Jason Garrett last season.) Keep the momentum going into that championship game.

I honestly wonder who would give you a down vote on the topic. Totally ridiculous unless they were the 2 FAU fans out there.

The coaching staff would completely disagree about this series. They do have good fans but this is not a good series for us. The team has to be retooled to play them. We always get more than average injuries because they block low to compensate for their size and speed. It also does nothing for recruiting. Houston for example, is someone we should play annually. For the competition and more so recruiting. We need to be in Houston every year. I'm not going to dime which coaches I discussed this with but I 100 percent agree with them. They were the ones who sold me on this and I couldn't agree more.

NMSU could decline a bowl if eligible
UNTexas replied to GreenTexan13's topic in Mean Green Football
I feel bad for their players if they have to decline. If it's such such a dire financial situation out there it makes me wonder if they need to continue playing football. -
Thought on the Unlikely event of a coaching change...

Duke's basketball facility seats 9,314. Duke... 10,000 is short sided for North Texas basketball? The Athletic Department rents a 44 year old facility from the university. A facility that needs a massive overhaul and you don't pay to upgrade a place you're renting. I don't think it's short sided for the athletic department to have a basketball stadium specifically for the basketball teams in the future. Short sided would be to build a big awesome athletic complex for all sports and to intentionally come up short for two teams. That reminds me of North Texas' previous administrations mindset.

This is easy! Cheer for them after the game, or when they graduate, or cheer against them the way they cheer against Navy. Or look at it like this, we learn a lot by losing. Maybe they need that lesson since they are 8-2?

UTEP is a really bad career move for any coach. That's the most accurate statement on here in a while.

It sounds like a lot of doom and gloom coming from the Sun City. Let's hope we make it worse this week. Their running back situation sounds dire. http://www.elpasotimes.com/videos/sports/college/utep/2017/11/06/miner-minute-unt-edition/107415952/

I totally agree. It's in bad shape. Fair Park is terrible. I'm happy for us to go to a bowl but if we have a options the CB is awful. I know some people hate the idea of playing in a sold out Frisco Bowl but it looks bad playing in a half full stadium. It would be very one sided if we played in a smaller venue like Toyota Stadium. We'd own that place.
-
I think a bowl in DFW is better for recruiting. Independence bowl would be cool. Deep down I know it's gonna be the HOD bowl.

Last time I was in NO some piece of sh$t started shooting up the street we were walking on. Screw that city it's a dump. I can party in nice cities just as well as trashy towns.

Frisco Bowl because I'm selfish. I'd rent an RV and tailgate my ass off. I live a stone throw from the stadium. Plus, I've seen how much the city rolls out the red carpet for sports. HOD is cool but we just go then get the hell away from Fair Park as fast as possible. New Mexico would have horrid turn out. If the Alamo somehow were in the picture I'd go crazy. Armed Services against Army is cool but damn I hate the triple option. No to anything Florida. New Orleans is way to early and on graduation day so no. However, as a life long North Texas fan who's been here through a lot of ugly years, I'll take a damn bowl game anywhere, anytime.

This game in the end was far more important than the UTSA win we celebrated. We qualified for a bowl and took a giant leap towards winning the west. We have to destroy UTEP for two reasons: win the west and for stomping us out of our sixth win last season.

My was just as good as CBS or Fox. Blow away CUSA or ESPN 3.
