True, and very good post. ODU can't compete within Conference USA for championships but they think they are to good for this conference. I get it isn't the same conference, none are though. Part of the reason college football is losing its luster is it's getting watered down. There is a reason good athletic departments are spending big money on stadiums and facilities. They see that's part of what it takes to be D1. Then there's the way we were, or schools in high school type stadiums, borrowing stadiums, or ancient dumps and that's just football. Not everyone deserves to be D1. At times we sure didn't. Maybe ODU should go FCS in football? I'm also sure DC has far better venues than The Star in Frisco, Texas for them to lose in. The Star is a dump and should be torn down. Shame on Conference USA for choosing it as a destination for a tournament.

The author in that article needs to ditch the crack pipe. His idea of conference realignment comical at best.

Good stuff. I use the have season tickets with my dad growing up. Back when UTEP basketball still had Haskins. I use to watch Tim Hardaway & Greg Davis all the time. Denton is awesome. I'd love to retire too! Sadly this stuff below is the crap you see outside stadium. (Granted this one brawl made Deadspin.) Grown men too. The crap people yell at you if you wear opposition apparel is ridiculous. We got a lot of racial crap because our area had white and black people in green. (Won't bother explaining as it's not worth repeating. They also thought no one would understand what they said when they switched to Spanglish slang.) They threw stuff every once in a while but the bathroom drunks were the worst. I grew up going to their badketball and football but those days are distant memories. I'd never take my kids back to a game there. Sad. Half my family went there and feel the same. Even more sad.

The conversation leaned towards why not get a men's Soccer team that is super competitive and take care of any title 9 issue they ever imagine. I thought it sounded interesting with no chance of happening. UTEP is a very tough sell to coaches and players alike. I never considered playing at UTEP. Even my dad who went there said not to. Many coaches who I knew that coached there said it was really really hard to get high school kids to go. Growing up we had season tickets to UTEP and it was different back then. There's an absolute zero chance I'd take my kids into that stadium or parking lot to watch a North Texas game. I actually had some people stop by and apologize for the way people were behaving. I even had UTEP fans sitting with me. At least the brawls have stayed outside the stadium from what I've seen. However, the old man with his dukes up was funny though. As was the kid getting jerked off on TV. Not exactly family friendly though.

I'm ok with UTEP being 0-12. Especially after the last time I watched us play at UTEP. Those fans deserve 0-12 every season until they drop football. (Which I heard was discussed from a buddy of mine.) I doubt it will happen though.

Mitch was good but don't forget players like Troy Redwine or All Americans/NFL players like Toby Gowin. There's others too.

I think if it was going to happen it would have already. Not to mention I'd stay put if I were him. Their head coach was a few points away from walking papers. I'd hate to move out there just to start looking for a new job.

It is strange. Like the Tech series. Those seem like they are super far out. They always get moved too. We might not be in the same conference by then. I hope the one series that always continues is SMU. It's good for both schools and like a home game. I wish we could get Houston too because of recruiting in the Houston area.

My buddy who loves the KFC story was in Taos on a chairlift with a kid telling a girl he goes to UT. She said she goes to UT too. He quickly corrected and said San Antonio. She rolled her eyes. My buddy, who's a huge smart ass, started chanting KFC. Apparently, he got angry. My friend told the story to the girl and they both laughed. The kid accused him of going to Texas State or North Texas. He laughed because he went to Towson.

Someone needs to post this online for our friends in San Antonio. I'm nervous they are doing New Year resolutions and need help. We need to make sure they get all the calories they can get. The punt block cost the game. Fromm getting dragged down by the face mask cost the game. The ridiculous pass interference cost the game. College football is an official joke now. They want certain teams to win. Alabama lost their division and conference. It's a bs joke. It's a monopoly and I'm not going to pay it any attention in the future. College football championships are an invitational, not a playoff. Not a sporting event. Its bs.

It's nuts. Twin Peaks bartender told me they had 200 people waiting at the door at opening on Thursday. Thursday! I was talking to some of them and they said they are enjoying the warm weather. I told them to come in August. These are awesome football fans. They've taken over the city. Makes me wonder what we could put together if we played in the Frisco Bowl.

I'd say a chance to win. Not to mention loyalty of their school attracts players. Kids want to play there. Heck, Carson Wentz went there. FBS shrugged him off. He's now dominating NFL defenses to. (Minus a knee at the moment) They take their football seriously up there and every high school player up there knows it. It's an easy sell. I'd rather play there than most of the MAC teams.
