  1. Guys, sorry, but enough with the Raveon talk. Dude didn't make grades, end of story. SL has said numerous times he's not playing here. He's been telling people he has/will play since he got on campus.
  2. I think it says something about McCasland's ability to "play the game" when almost none of his recruits are from Texas. To me, that's a positive. I have much more confidence that he's found hidden gems outside the state than guys who are highly exposed here locally, yet still have little to no interests from other schools. I'd love to get guys locally if they are a fit, but am glad he's not trying to force it like Benford seemed to at times.
  3. I'll just say on those statistics, JJ players never had crazy stat lines. Maybe he was superior but I'll take the way he played over Combs those last two years especially. With the help of White and others, those teams actually had chemistry. Combs had to do it all out there, I agree. But like Russell Westbrook this season, I wonder how much of his success the first two years was being on a poor team. We can play the what-if game, but who is to say he would be totally healthy this season either way?
  4. I'm just saying, how would he have compared on a good team, say like a Tristian Thompson? I don't think he's even close. I just don't think any premier teams in the metroplex are banging down his door. Even if they did, he would likely be a bench player. UNM makes sense--I don't think he's leaving just to go to a better team. He's been Benford's guy since day 1. We all heard about it anytime someone mentioned him transferring if we fired Benford. I would have liked to keep him, sure. But I trust McCasland and his ability to find guys that match his system. I'm just not sold it was all coaching these last few years, either.
  5. Combs looking at UNM makes me think TCU and SMU aren't interested. Look, fact is the dude just couldn't stay healthy. We had a bad team and Combs was one of a few bright spots. There's a tendency to overrate guys in that situation when they're on your team.
  6. Brice was a highly anticipated recruit but never lived up to his billing, in my opinion. Surprisingly ineffective rebounder for his height. Brown was support personnel and his scoring actually fell off from his freshman year. I would be surprised to hear McCasland begged either one of these guys to stay. Especially considering he already brought in more guys than we had roster spots for. This is much needed and welcome. Honestly with the exception of Lawson and Woolridge I'd be okay with seeing an entirely new team. Also, best of luck to both of them..
  7. Oh because any responses in a dick measuring contest that is a college sports arguments is a good retort? Please let me in on these retorts that don't involve "YEAH BUT YOU," "NO YOU, GO TEAM."
  8. Evidently not enough to stay in Jonesboro for more than a year.
  9. Sorry, but we're being accused of being low on funds by folks from Northeast Arkansas?
  10. Look, I swear we're good by it. We have some bets down at the race tracks that are going to clear this right up. Just please don't break Scrappy's kneecaps.
  11. Not sure if they still stand, but held offers from Houston and SHSU.
  12. Cool concept but that looks awful.
  13. UNT sounds cheap to me, I always like saying North Texas. To me it's not like Western Kentucky or Eastern Michigan or something. People know North Texas and how huge it is. Plus if you say UNT fast people think you went to North Carolina.
  14. Too soon to call him the Russian Dirk? If so, i'll keep my Splash Brothers (TM) nickname for AJ Lawson and Ryan Woolridge to myself.
  15. Please, no Russia jokes. They may be listening..
  16. Obviously we can always put two big men at 4 & 5 and it doesn't matter, but wondering what true 5's we have besides Ricky Brice Jr...
  17. You wish may not come true. By my count we have 1 spot left... Some are speculating we may get the last of their 3 McCasland commits, Marquis Easton.
  18. Dude, no joke. Not to mention his mom looks to be only 6 inches shorter than him.
  19. Unofficial visit scheduled. Offered back in June. His older brother is NBA player and former Kansas Jayhawk Kelly Oubre: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_Oubre_Jr. http://www.courtsidefilms.com/news_article/show/714554?referrer_id=1203619
  20. Same staff as Arky State. Time to get recruitin'. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/032417aad.html
  21. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/032317aaa.html "Coach Hodge has made a monumental impact on every program he has been a part of and we are blessed to have him join the Mean Green family," McCasland said. "Not only is he an outstanding basketball mind and elite recruiter, but truly cares about mentoring our student-athletes on a daily basis. He gets winning at the highest level and his knowledge for the game is only exceeded by his passion for helping our students reach their dreams and fulfill their potential not only as basketball players, but students and men. We are fortunate to have Coach Hodge, Shelly, Emory and Reed join our family."
  22. Exactly. For him, he knows those two "entry-level" jobs would work. It's about utilizing your talents to the fullest extent possible.
  23. Looks like the first offer of the McCasland era. Couple days late on this, but didn't see another thread:
