Maybe a current coach as interim and see what happens. Would be pretty disruptive to hire a new coach who brought in his own staff and changed the system after one 1 year with SL.

Didn't consider the offensive coordinator position going to Seth, but it's definitely possible. My immediate reaction though was that he may quite possibly be the next head coach at OU if Lincoln Riley doesn't pan out or leaves. That could happen with him staying here and doing well or having success as their offensive coordinator, either way. Interesting situation to watch develop.

Dude, this isn't mutually exclusive. They can be 100% responsible for their actions and the head coach can shoulder blame for bringing them here, too. Yes the football players who raped girls at Baylor are responsible for their actions, but Art Briles is responsible for bringing them in (despite prior red flags), and failing to act when it was discovered.

Ok, once again, that argument hasn't worked for any coach ever when this type of thing happens. The difference is the coach brings them on campus. You talk to their coach's to see what type of kid they are. Maybe there were absolutely no red flags, but that's almost never the case. Any coach will tell you they are responsible for their players on and off the court. ETA: my position is not to place blame on the current coaching staff or AD. It still is and has always been to emphasize how dysfunctional the program was under RV and the residual effects of that dysfunction. Losing programs lose in all facets. I'm just glad that era is over.

The school certainly isn't treating it like it's amateurish. Anything involving this type of thing draws major questions. The fact that it involves at least 2 people associate with the team invokes questions about the team culture, to say the least. Yes, maybe he didn't have direct knowledge, but do you think no one on the team did? These guys are all buddies. Maybe no one wants to snitch but what does that say about the respect for their coach? I'm partly just airing grievances because I'm a firm believer that a bad coach permeates into more than just bad basketball. It's an entire dysfunctional culture that is just beyond frustrating. Maybe not to this extent, but we heard very similar reports out of the football team when McCarney was here. When you lose your team it shows on the field/court and off. Just my 2 cents.

Brice has learned a hard lesson about keeping the wrong company. Also hard to believe he didn't know what his roommates were up to, at least on some level. Could jeopardize his future playing career with his upcoming transfer. Green and the student manager deserve whatever is coming to them. I think the main question at a program level is who all knew and didn't say anything? What type of "watch" was Benford keeping on these guys? For me, it'd be hard to the AD to catch wind of this directly, but as the head basketball coach I have to wonder.

Your logic holds no water, that's like saying Paterno has no culpability for Penn State. It happened under their nose. They hired/recruited the responsible parties. We don't have all the facts but if they are alleging a criminal conspiracy, then it's doubtful March 30th was the first occurrence. If true and depending on the facts, Benford is undeniably culpable.

Yeah, I immediately thought that this was like the complete opposite of Baylor. Imagine if Art Briles and the Baylor administration had handled that situation with complete transparency and swift action, by kicking the players off the team. How easy it could have been to avoid their scandal.

I was thinking Brown was the other, but didn't want to make assumptions. When this type of thing happens, it's never a good reflection on the culture of a program, or a good thing in general obviously. If that is the case, I am glad McCasland swiftly took care of it. Waiting to see what other facts come out.

Now I am wondering, since at least one is a guy transferring out, if their transferring is just a coincidence. If not this specifically maybe McCasland made a targeted effort to "clean house" with some stuff that had maybe been swept under the rug previously. We know this happened with the football program, with several guys leaving when SL came in due to off the field issues.

Well, that's one way to recruit P5 talent to UNT. Recruit a guy, get fired, get hired as an assistant, and then have said guy transfer.

Let me clarify since this has become a whole thread... I wasn't aware of the idiom's double meaning, either. As that article said, it hasn't been used in that way since the 1920's. Out of curiosity, I asked a few fellow millennials and none of them had heard of it being used in that way either. I don't think it is commonly known at all with our generation, unlike the word used in the comment before mine. I just thought it was funny and was making fun of my fake friend @All About UNT. I know him personally and know he is only racist against Italians, but we keep our spaghetti grubbin' jokes confined to @Quoner.
